I play almost everyday on Balmung moving around Limsa/Uldah and never get tells.

Maybe one in a month asking me to join a dead FC or something stupid like " cute char ;) ", people who RP/ERP are very picky when contacting others, if you don't have an "E/RP " Search info or tag on , they are not gonna bother talking to you.

The amount of people defending ERP on this game is sickening, you people need investigating.

The ERP community is a mixed bag. You have the people that keep their stuff between them and their friends involved. Then you have the ones that cause problems by taking it public. It can't be stated enough: if you enjoy ERP keep it between the involved parties only. The second you try to wiggle someone else into it that doesn't want in on it is when it becomes a problem.

I really do not understand your crusade against the erp by leaving as a shield that children have a chance of being in contact with this type of content. I just want to tell you, welcome to the internet, the place where your innocence will be trashed. Stop being shocked, the internet is not very young and at the time it was even dirtier than it is now. Do as before, ignore, look elsewhere, report to square enix and play with the people who suit you.

Never seen an erp shout in 8 years of playing, not one. Club events 18+ or not are not erp recruitments.

Maybe its because of my wow background i might just be a bit more used to filtering it out mentally but i know i have seen people in chat shouting out about their cafe's and such but it didnt seem spammy to me. Personally dont mind it because though im much a loner keeping to myself in game once or twice i saw someone shout about a club or cafe and even around halloween there was an FC that set up there house like a haunted house and i have to say it was pretty nice. Now the only things i saw was rp not erp so i maybe some worlds have it worse so i can only speak for my corner of eazorea.

I just wish that rp(e or not) had it's own dedicated channel so that people who wanted nothing to do with it could simply disable that one channel and not cut themselves off from communication with everyone in the zone. Having that stuff in what is essentially global or zone chat is nuts.

You let your kid on anything with an internet connection. Did you really expect only good things to come from that? lol

It's absolutely not a kids game. And if kids manage to play it, they can also get it to any filthy part of the internet even more easily.
I'm actually shocked the game is only 13+ in NA, considering it contains quite heavy themes, instead of 16+. It feels pretty uncomfortable knowing that someone so young hangs around in adult (no, I'm not talking ERP) conversations, maybe pretending to be an adult.

That said, I honestly wish venues/clubs shouts decreased because I see a few every time I pop in town for a short time, lately, and it's becoming crazy. But then there's FC shouts too, despite there being a community finder now, so eh what to do, gotta live with it.

Even if the game is for kids, online interactions are not rated :^)
And in unrated online interactions, save where the ToS is involved, ERP is bound to happen.

And like others said, it's really not for kids. It looks cartoonish and has a very obvious "anime" vibe to it all, but let's not forget one of the main inspirations for the early parts of the game was Game of Thrones. Bozja, for one, isn't for kids, and neither's Ala Mhigo. And quite a lot of the game has philosophical and existential moments. Sure, you can enjoy it without knowing lick of it nor bother to interpret it. But it's there, and it's not something kids would be particularly interested in.

I have played the game since ARR early access, and i haven't had one single time thinkin like that.
Maybe u should not worry about smthn smthn what about the kids blah smthn, but about ur interpretation.

Plenty of them on Balmung actually. In fact, in my experience as a Balmung resident for at least 7, maybe 8 years. I'd say the majority of nightclubs, taverns and cafes type venues do not have ERP going on in the open , those that do keep it in private back rooms.

Even in the (Roleplayed) place I played as dancer or bartender in for at least three of those years was SFW in the open, but since the subjects that were usually being discussed/roleplayed were best handled by grown-ups it would probably have been tagged as '18+' ( alcohol, tobacco, other 'mature' subjects) too.

I'm no stranger to ERP either, I've enjoyed it since I first played Ultima Online starting in 1997, along with my spouse at the time.

There are subjects other than ERP that are , in my not-so-humble opinion, that are not suitable for 'children' ( Assumed to be under 18's in the U.S.) simply because younger folks simply do not have the life experiences needed to comprehend them or form an educated opinion on. We all know damn well that 'kids' on the internet can all too easily access 'mature subjects' and are quite adept at avoiding parental supervision.

For the record, I am older than most folks here, I am a grandparent ( and have step-kids who have their own kids plenty old enough to play games rated T for Teen themselves). My step kids *know* enough about the internet etc to be perfectly capable of managing their own kids too.

Most kids I knew were playing Call of Duty when I was 13. It's not only easy for kids to play these games but the parents don't care that they are playing them either. It actually baffles me how many people act like kids don't exist in this game just because one has never outwardly told them their age in a dm.

It's not because one doens't tell you their age, but because of the age restrictions one should default that nobody or almost under the age restrictions are playing. Especially in an online game and one with a sub, which the parents will be paying for.

Sure there's kids in the game. They don't make up the majority nor does anyone need to walk on eggshells because a kid MIGHT be around. CoD doesn't require a monthly sub.
