It's a little bit of an eye opener on discrimination to be fair that Lala's are treated this way, I mean in western high fantasy no one consider Dwarves as children, maybe it's the beards? or the gruff personalities? Lala's don't have facial hair and are generally portrayed as happy or mischievous. Still it's a little sad when in order to seek a marriage partner I actually have to tell people I'm willing to change race.
