Check your information. Version 2.0 is approximately Sept-Oct not Jan 2013. This will be available via client update and download.
Jan 2013 is when they will start distributing the new Version 2.0 in retail stores.

In anyrate, Apparently I was mistaken.. I can't seem to find it. I could have sworn I saw it.. but it is what it is.. unlike some people, I do admit when I'm wrong. Were all human for crying out loud, and this attacking people or calling them trolls or white knights just isn't the way to solve any problems at all, it only creates more fuel for the fire.
In away, this is what Speculation leads to a lot of the times.. with people chopping off other peoples heads. I seriously did think that I heard it somewhere.. but I'm glad I was corrected.. at least I know I can take my time without worrying I won't get all the weapons.. or at least whenever I choose to get them.
Anyways, I'm sorry for the confusion that I have caused, and I really think 2.0 threads should stop till E3 shows its beautiful face.. then we can have something to talk about again.
Also Players like me knows when he's wrong and mistaken.
Live, Laugh, Love ( No point in being angry/upset/anything negative) Being Positive and think Positive you better off as :D.
Can I have a Group Forum Hug nowz? \^.^/
Edit: Everyone Wants to know the Month FFXIV 2.0 will come out?
E3+End of CGI Video= Month/Year ( Maybe day) :P
Check the Roadmap again. Unless it's changed since then and they've discussed it elsewhere, that's the *PS3* Closed Beta Test. The 2.0 client drops between September and October. The Roadmap even specifically refers to November onward as the "Version 2.0 Free Trial Period".
Worst case scenario, even if we're to assume the software is released but not activated in September-October, it's still set to go live no later than November. Again, according to the Roadmap, not sure if it may have changed since then.
I don't think people making comments about how they expect a delays and/or not too much from 2.0. I mean they've done nothing but hype it up, yes a lot of companies due, but I get the feeling this is different. Much of the things that have been a bit wrong with the patches made to the current version are because they have a lot of the team not even touching it; much of the team is entirely devoted to 2.0. With this and the fact that Yoshi-P, a man who has brought so much to this game, who has honestly done more than expected, is heading it, all we can do is expect something good. Not only that, they have a group of people entirely devoted to the forums, taking all the feedback they can and relaying it to the developers, meaning things are getting done; whether it is ideas for the future or complains about the now, we are seeing progress. We can complain all we want about drop rates, how they are fine or horrible, but we have to remember there is someone opposing your views which they have to take in to account.
What complaints are there now? Grinding? Invalid this is an MMO. Copy and Paste? Being addressed. Laggy interface? Has shown much improvement, and we all know 2.0 will have a badass interface. No flying black chocobo (my personal wish)? Let's hope for it. Drop rates? We have to give them time to figure it out, though I like the idea of a totem system, totems obtained maybe through certain conditions like times run, Ceteris paribus, given drop rate and difficulty stays constant.
Honestly the biggest concerns as of now is the fact that the game is supposed to cater towards casual and hard-core, but is leaning towards hard-core players, that and the lagginess. But nothing in what they've said has given to the idea that these two concerns won't be addressed. We know of a new menu system, and all they have to do is keep things fresh. When they make something difficult, allow for something lax and time consuming.
We know new dungeons are coming. We know of a new landscape. We know of a new interface. We know that Yoshi-P is devoted to the game. Yeah people may think that they didn't address the concerns of the need of something casual in the latest patch, with Garuda, but they tried Hamlet. Yeah it doesn't seem so hot now, but we know they are trying.
Give them a break, they are really trying. Bashing isn't helping anyone. Be excited, let them know you appreciate the hard work. No matter how much I cry after 20 minute AVs and CCs, I still know they are hard at work.
Guys 2.0 BETA goes live around September for both PC & PS3 (we also get free trial back), then the game is prepared for re-launch around Jan 2013+.
BOTH systems will be beta tested together, on the same servers.
The Sept-Oct time frame is for players who purchased the current client prior to that time. Jan 2013 is the official release date for Ver 2.0 and the PS3 version for new subscribers. I am sure that at some point prior to Sept SE will cut off sales of the current version.
from September- Jan (release date for other people) We get to play it and stress test it all the nice jazz, all the while of keep our progress.. its like being in beta but were not at the same time... because we get to keep all the data. Just like how FFXIV was released 7 days in advance for CE users.. well people who stuck with the game by paying for it.. get to play it for 3 months more than release date of 2.0 players =).
/hug. The purpose of my OP was just to remind people that we are fast approaching the end of the current version's life span and that we should wait until after E3 to see what details are provided before we make suggestions for improvements to Ver 2.0. How this post got off track is beyond me. It was not my intention to open up this post for the debates that followed. Sorry if I gave a different impression.
The one Battle theme (if they plan on making new Battle themes) I hope they keep this one :D.

Question is, will 2.0 be a sufficient to handle the MMO world? Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, Star Wars the Old Republic, Elder Scrolls online, Tera, Blade & Soul, The Secret World, World of Darkness? That's a stout list...
2013 is the redistribution in retail.
2.0 will be out prior for PC, as the PS3 enters a Beta, and the PC version is further tested worldwide and tweaked. The PS3 version will have an independant server from the PC 2.0 version until Jan 2013 at the retail redistribution and PS3 retail launch.
As far as other mmo's it depends on yoru personal likes and dislikes. Im myself played GW2 from the closed beta, to the semi- vip open beta, and it feels same old same old to me. Some of the animations on mobs are pretty bad at times, and in main GD events it becomes like a first person campign spawners feast. Which hopefully will be changed soon.
I liek the idea of Elder Scolls onlien but we still ahve to see it in action (not CGI created examples that many thought was GW2).
I interpreted the road map by the current PC players getting 2.0 in late October/early November 2012 and the PS3 version will be entering the beta phase. The full re-release of the retail hard copy is distributed to the retailers in January 2013. So we get the soft copy early. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I read that road map the day I read it.
・September to October 2012 – Begin distribution of version 2.0 software for PC
- Begin distribution of PlayStation®3 system beta version
Or does it mean they are transferring files during that time and we get our hands on it in January?
That is why the community needs to support them. Nothing good can come out of awful criticism. Think of the Vietnam War, the reason for the supposed failure was lack of support for the troops. When your community or people do don't believe in you, you don't believe in yourself. I know with support 2.0 will be amazing.
I don't care if beta will have the same content. I'm ready to play this game with no lag :D
GW2 not THAT impressive, Diablo 3 (not THAT new.. I played it, and its ..diablo...), SWTOR.. ? (Are you kidding me... that game has voice acting in the quests and that really is the most impressive part of the game. I beta tested it for months before launch AND played after launch until last month when I left and came back here.), TSW (decent game... using AoC mechanics.. atleast thats how it feels to me. Pretty neat features.. implementing google and google maps.), TERA (lololol.. Im only sad that I spent the 60 dollars on the digital collectors edition.), Elder Scrolls Online (ABOUT TIME), I know nothing of Blade&Soul, World of Darkness (not to impressed)
We will know by the E3 vidoe. Personally think there will be lack of content afterwords for us older players. Dev's will still be fixing server problems from max servers and PS3 players coming in. I there there might be a release delay of a week.
I'm personally looking forward to E3 vid.
I think Square Enix will have some what a Field Day.
With FF Type Zero (ENG) VITA/PS3 Release. FF13 Versus might actually show up (I Don't expect them to show it until Tokyo Gameshow this year)
Maybe see new Tomb Raider gameplay-(SE is somewhat working along with another company with this) Lastly FF14 Vidoe saying the rebirth of a totally new World, Chocobo Barding, New EG area, battle screen shots with new enemies, new CGI opening and new story screenshots.
I believe that part of the reason for the early release to current players is to test the stress placed on the new servers by actual play from the current population. They should be able to tell right away if there is a problem and correct it prior to release. After the failure of the current version at launch I believe it is imperative for SE to launch on time and they have planned to make this happen.
Exactly, Thats why it's Technically a 2.0 beta but its not for us, because we get to play it way in advance without losing anything before it goes live to other people in January, so that we can stress test it for 3-4 months, so that FFXIV 2.0 Servers can take a Massive amounts of players without trouble.
This is a good call to do, something they really didn't do for 1.0 all that much.
I'm struggling to understand the purpose of this thread.
