It's like any MMO social situation tied to performance. If an individual in the space makes waves, one way or the other, people will focus on it. This has always been in XIV. Hell, you find it on this very forum too. I can't remember their name, but some Ultimate raider was trying to shame me using FFlogs here by pointing out I had like 200 less Savage parses than them and no Ultimate ones etc. As if the excessive runs they did specifically to upload parses had any bearing against my milquetoast weekly clears, uploaded by someone not me, in terms of a pissing context lol(it was like my 400 to their 620 or something like that).
Competition brings out the worst in people, but it's also the only reason a lot of people play. It's great for individual performance, but causes a lot of inconsistencies for all the runs they don't/won't upload.
But there's also a lot of assholes in the PF, who will join static groups 7/8 and try to talk down to the static and command them to do the fight catering to them. When that happens, of course you're gonna see a group verbal lashing beatdown on the PUG individual.
When you have a group member responsible for very specific portions of a fight not doing as much as the rest of the group, of course you're gonna bad mouth them. Especially if they've been given a couple dozen chances at doing it right. Especially if it's something simple like, "Please use Seraph, like, at all." or "Please save an indom charge for that." etc.
No one is made of patience unending. Leaving frustrations unexpressed is unhealthy.
