How to avoid getting banned in this forum?

It's best to avoid dealing with them because that is what they're looking for.

Takes a lot to get banned here, so you must have said something pretty bad.

I have posted then thought "Yeah, I can feel the wind on that ban hammer swinging my way!" but nothing. So yeeeeaaah.

Never, ever, ever ever, ever, EVER, quote verbatim (this is important) something a troll said that guarantees an insta-ban for them. This is an easy and chances of you getting banned are pretty high, even if it wasn't you who actually wrote it. If you need to respond via quote something inflammatory they said, delete what they wrote and replace it with text of choice.

Here's an idea, don't use hate speech and you won't get banned.

It seems hit or miss on this forum.

I once got a ban for criticizing Yoshi-P. He basically was telling machinist players to get better at the game because they weren't underperforming, yet after said ban, they got a tuning pass.

Yeah. They weren't underperforming at all. Right. *eyeroll*

You've gotta really try to get banned on these forums, tbh.

Well the thing is nowadays it is totally different than what it really is. Now hate speech is anything you as a person do not like. And sadly those people use that as a weapon. And when you possibly have a moderators being one of those people then its all over already.
I do agree however that hate speech, the real one isn't proper and nice to use.

Simply phrase everything in a way that says exactly what you mean without actually saying it at all. It should be what you don't say that says your strongest points.
I'm genuinely an offensive often times vindictive person, but most don't realize it and so here I am! Not a scratch on me. By the time they understand they were insulted, I'm two towns away and pressing my luck elsewhere. I highly suggest it. It's best to live another day than to throw that punch you realllly want to throw but are uncertain you'll be able to walk away from. You know?? It's more entertaining that way anyway. Especially if you play dumb about doing it. Give it a try next time. The next post that makes your blood boil or that makes you feel whatever type of way..think of what you actually want to say, and then gift wrap it. Leave out the fighting words. Express your thoughts with intention and just a touch of insinuation. They'll arrive to both your point and your insults on their own, trust me.

U can be not banned in the forums by offering advice without being rude for one. Keep in mind everyone has feelings, careful word choices like do not sound aggressive in your wording, and make sure the topic of what you are trying to say isn't so one sided in a effort to try to make someone feel bad. Encourage them to see your point of view, do not think that your idea or thoughts is the only answer. Try to sound neutral and not one sided. Saying please, asking questions about how or why instead of trying to accuse them of something. and Lastly don't assume something of them or their ideas. Be courteous. Hope something I said helped. ^^

I have always thought the mods here were quite lenient until I got hit with a 10 day ban. I got banned, ultimately, for being too sarcastic. I guess not everyone is down with British levels of sarcasm. I didn't call anyone stupid, I suggested that the person I was replying to was calling everyone else stupid who didn't agree with their extreme view. That got me a 10 day ban and I honestly think the mod simply misunderstood my post.

With that said I have got into some pretty heated argument on here over the years and never had any trouble before, or since that one ban. So if you spend your time here walking on eggshells afraid the banhammer is coming then you're either a bit paranoid or you really do need to have a think about how you speak to other people.

I'm sorry, but if you're on the forums you have to have navigated here in the first place, possibly logged in if you weren't already, found and read a topic (if one didn't exist already), typed out some sort of content using the not exactly top of the line forum system here, and hit "Post Topic/Reply." There is no such thing as "But it was in the heat of the moment!" or "I did it without thinking!" Formulating some kind of response, typing it out and then hitting the submit button takes more than long enough to cancel out any instant, blurted response defense you can have with a verbal interaction.

Communicate like a mature adult and you shouldn't have any real issues, on the forums or in the game.

Just be nice, and considerate.

It's actually quite EASY to get banned here. I know someone who got banned defending the cashshop. To my point all it takes for a ban is being reported. In other words this place is no better then Reddit. We just don't have downvotes, in it's place we have report. Because that's how people treat it.

Be agreeable with any and everything that is said and join the majority.
Back in the day, if you didn't like something about this game the mass
would report you. It's extremely easy to get banned here.
There's even Reddit posts about how silly it is.

do you guys go through the forums with blinders or something? there's tons of posts which clearly insult someone else, who most likely got reported, where the person who spewed the insult hasn't been banned and in addition to that, you also have several examples in this thread were people got banned for nothing and seemingly at random
again, because it's such an egregious example, my friend politely said that another poster should get help because they were accused of stalking and trying to hurt them - the other poster insulted them and didn't get a ban, but the friend did, despite staying civilised throughout the whole 'argument'
hell, many of the virtuous and moral people of the OF frequently say worse things, yet nothing happens to them, which shows that there clearly is an issue with this weird moderation

Possible, but it was like 6 years ago so I couldn't tell you.

Abide by the rules and be respectful to other users, even if from personal experience I've been disrespected multiple times and the perpetrators were not banned.

Don't criticize the game.
