you'd be surprised how much of a difference holy sheltron makes for PLD
it doesn't disappear instantly like TBN so PLD feels way more comfortable now especially with the healing from offensive magic.

3 cooldowns vs 4 cooldowns, it's pretty fair, used to be 2 vs 4-5. Paladin has an extra group raid mitigation vs the other tanks, PoA stopped all attacking/movement.
If that 20% HP restore doesn't save your healers a GCD or change how they're using their OGCDs to heal you, it may as well have not existed. I've extensively played both DRK & WAR in both of the EX trials and lemme tell ya; my healers never notice when I switch. The outgoing damage is so low in those fights that its irrelevant how much self sustain a tank has when healer OGCDs & AoE heals handle all the healing by themselves and the tank sustain is effectively overheal.
Not to mention, it's 25% temporary hit points that aren't subjected to diminishing returns, which makes it stronger than % mitigation in plenty of situations. DRK was capable of doing some crazy uptime on certain mechanics in savages last expansion that forced downtime on all other tanks because 0 damage taken = no damage down/vuln in so many fights with how they have it designed, a trend I can easily see continuing. Like how in Tower of Zot, DRK takes so little damage compared to the other tanks on the first boss because you can literally 0 out the tankbuster everytime with TBN, meaning the poison DoT attached to the tankbuster fails to apply, with DoT being like, half the damage the tank takes during that fight.
TBN is still insanely stronger than % mitigators in many situations, just as % mitigators will still be stronger than TBN in others. Claiming one is 'leagues above the other' is ridiculous when they're both powerful.
That being said, it's honestly only WAR that needs their self sustain nerfed, IMO (and honestly, not by that much, Bloodwhetting really isn't ultra amazing in single target fights, just good). PLD's self sustain is extremely irrelevant since part of it is locked to the Req part of their rotation which is at set intervals of their rotation and not something you can choose to freeform during moments where the lifesteal would be relevant. Also likely in Savage/Ultimates you'll be saving Holyshelltron for the mitigative power, and not simply free-firing it for the healing aspect unless you know you'll regenerate the gauge to use it the 1-2x in the future you'll need it in, meaning both of PLD's non-dps loss sustains are restricted.
GNB's is also way overhyped. A single 900 pot heal from a tank isn't changing how the healers are going to be OGCD'ing the tanks. The only big benefit of HoC is that if a tank skirts by on less CDs, or if they weren't topped before a big hit, the HoC proc can at least stabilize them quickly to take a following auto that would kill them.
It's not just Bloodwhetting that's the problem. They gave Equilibrium, the 1200 cure potency oGCD heal, the strongest tank heal in the game, a 200 potency cure HoT for 15s. That's an extra 1K potency heal on an already powerful move. That is BEYOND insane...to where I'm willing to joke that the devs made a mistake and it was obviously supposed to be on DRK's Oblation.
