That only works if the application was built for the cloud. You can't just port an app to the cloud. Especially if it's using low level code.

Well it really sucks to lost your place after being in queue for 2k+. That's 1 hr minimum to log in. When will be this issue resolved? I don't want free days, I want to play and just be able to log in /;
I work all day, when I try to play, I get a queue above 6,000, this every day since the launch of the expansion, I go in and play for just 1 hour, because I have to sleep and work the next day
This is like ordering a subscription for a daily meal then getting to the restaurant only for them to tell you they are all out....BUT THEY ALREADY TOOK YOUR MONEY and you arent getting it back. If I would have known that I would ONLY be able to play morning times I would not have bought this expansion. I dont think they should sell more subs than they can reasonably support. This is unfair to EVERYONE. I would rather they just have told me the game is full and is no longer on sell until more capacity is added. Atleast I could keep my money until I can actually use the service I am paying for.
Just wanted to add that I am pissed off too. It consistently loses connection to the data center and puts me at the back of the queue when I can get back in, day after day. No point in trying to play.
EDIT: I forgot to say, I was able to wait in the queue and eventually log in and play during the pre-order early release period, but when the regular release started, haven't been able to play once.
Yes! This right here... (even though we know that businesses do what makes them the most money), people have paid for a product that they cannot use.. period. I'm a long time MMO player so I'm no stranger to long queues and server issues.. but this release is much worse than others. I'm sitting in queue now (at about 4k, down from 6k.. I'll error out soon I'm sure.. for the fifth time today). Hey SE, I don't need a free week... but I'd totally take a free mogstation mount (preferably the cloud bike) :D
I think the problem will be escalating even more. People are so afraid to log out now that they are finding ways to stay in-game. Have a look!

I went to make coffee and now I'm back from 1800 or so in queue to 2700 due to 2002. This babysitting is harsh! :(
Can Square Enix PLEASE add an auto-reconnect and NOT close the game if we have an error? i don't mind the long queue so long as i can STAY in the queue without having to babysit the game client for HOURS.
It's unacceptable as a company to allow that we, the people who pay to keep servers running, are not offered some level of protection within the queue. When I'm at 700 players in line, after already waiting 3 hours from when I logged in, to get a f'ing 2002 error, and am placed back in f'ing line at 6000. Looks like I'm not f'ing playing your game today, which is like MANY OTHER DAYS. Makes me want to un-sub and go back to WoW. At least with their servers, they can keep people logged in to their server while waiting in the queue.
I was in queue for 3 hours.. down to 1700 in line... then 2002 again. I've been successfully managing the multiple events by quickly logging back in to hold my spot in line. Well this time.. I can't even connect to the data center. Sometimes even babysitting doesn't work :(
I feel your pain. Third time losing queue now. This last time I was at 192....192! Then I couldn't reconnect back in time due to server errors and now I am FURTHER back in the queue then previously at 4k+:mad::mad::mad:Quote:

today i got in queue for around 3hours. but no errors at all. so i could do laundry, groceries and all this stuff while waiting.
it feels a bit better around these days
over this past week there has been emergency and login in server " fixes" but it seems to be back to its old crappy self. during the week it isnt that bad to login but weekends are terrible.
I got in que at 3800. i waited to the que down to 1938 which i got up used the restroom thats a on sweet. took less than 30 seconds i saw the 2002 pop when heading back to the pc to re-enter the que back at 3800................
this login failures constantly is breeding toxicity in players because all they want to do is finish work and relax and this issue is taking away there relaxing time completely.
So I did some simple data points for my experience with the game so far. Once I hit my 3rd error last Saturday, I started counting, and I was already counting hours played/waiting in queue before that.
From 12/3 to 12/9, I had spent 29 hours in queue, experienced 23 errors/disconnects, and played 6 hours, but only on the 3rd. Moving to a wired connection on Wednesday helped, I only experienced 5 disconnects over those days, though the time I could spend in queue was shorter due to real world obligations, so I still ended up not playing. (I did not try on the 10th or today, I have other things at awkward times that wouldn't have made waiting in any queue feasible).
On a positive note, I've gotten a lot done this week! Don't think my kitchen has even been cleaner! And I recognize that there isn't much that can be done to fix this at the moment, but it was interesting to look at the numbers today.
This is getting beyond ridiculous now. I've been a faithful subscriber for 8 years almost. One of the things I love about this game is you've been able to maintain a normal life and still play/progress. I haven't even been able to play more than an hour because I work and can't alt tab from the game. You've also got people actively abusing your afk system to keep a spot in line, but I don't blame them: you created this issue.
It's beyond frustrating. I'm a crafter and the biggest turn around on crafting profits is in the first few days of the expac. Already prices have bottomed out and that window is gone.
Frankly seven days of game time is not enough, especially since the issue is still ongoing. Square should not charge any customer for the game until they can actually provide a stable environment to accommodate.
Fixing your issue is this simple:
-AFK timer decreased to 10 minutes. If you can't play give someone who can a shot.
-No more 2002. I understand it's a safety feature but it honestly just creates this privileged elite who find ways to stay in the game forever while those who can't stay logged onto the computer suffer. The absolute most annoying thing about this is even the 8 hour queues that are presently on our server can't be waited in due to 2002. You literally will get booted out.
-Suck it up and buy higher priced servers. You're going to lose customers if you don't.
Its been almost a week. When are they going to fix this shit show?
i come from wow where the community is garbage and the storyline base at best but not even really that. when i started playing pre ew drop. i was very happy with the game and its community. after looking at almost every other mmo on the market and my favorite streamers, that had been holding out on ff14, giving it a try. i have to say a was very very pleased with what i was seeing. i fully expected que times with ew drop. between the huge expanse in player base and the limited number or servers. i knew ques would be huge. this 2002 error though is making me lose my faith in the developers ability to resolve issues. and i say that only because from what ive seen of ew and everything ive heard from other players. the ONLY issue they have is this constant 2002 connection drop error. so every time i get dropped( causing me to lose my place in que more specifically ) its a major disappointment. with everything else going so well for the game you would think they could throw enough resources at this problem to get it fixed. blizzard has its faults but even they are smart enough to say hey, we NEED more servers and to spread the ppl out. then do so by buying more servers and giving out free character xfers from high pop servers. i only just now qued up at 3998 a bit ago. waited an hour till i was down to low 2000s to get 2002 dropped over and over again till i lost my place in que and came back in finally at 4153. this is bs and part of me wants to demand my money back. part of me askes why am i paying them to NOT let me play the game. i know none of these things will happen. i am very impressed by the game and its community and have found none other like it. nor would i expect to get my money back seeing as to how i agreed to a none refundable purchase. i will restate what i said earlier though. with this being the REAL( with so few others ) issue they have with ew drop. why is it taking so long to find a solution. if you cant fix the code because things are to congested. then the next solution to follow is to spread out said congestion. ANYTHING actually will do at this point if i could only stop getting f&*%ed out of my que plz.
Might be time to open up about 10 new servers and let people move to low pop ones for free.
Because I can't stand sitting in a queue for hours, only to lose my spot.
I have to agree with opening the new server and free transferring in current situation
I've been having a slightly different problem the past few days, usually I've been playing around 3-7AM and I would be able to get into the game with relative ease...but that isn't the issue. Its when I'm playing the game that I get randomly punted out like every 10-15 mins, and sometimes maybe 20 minutes if I'm lucky.
Then it got so bad it was around every couple minutes, seems to happen way more often when I do TRUSTs instead of Duty Finder Players (why this is the case I have no idea).
I got so frustrated today I quit for the rest of the day to do other things.
Hell
I tried to into get into AREA 5 one time and every single instance was full apparently, that is literally never happened before since I've been playing this. Now imagine if you will if you logged out in that zone and tried to log in...(yeah that wouldn't be good) unless they have some kind of measures in place that I'm not aware of.
Just to meme for a sec here..
Tales of Packet Loss & Players Will Fade!!!
I was able to get in! Then, I had a call from one of my family members concerning the holidays. I took too long and was logged out. Now sitting at 4042. I just can't win! :(

Yeah, I wish they'd do something about that. Even before the expansion pre-release and launch, I had to wait in a 50-ish person queue every time I logged in. Only to see the same 20+ characters in every single world server in Limsa (and elsewhere) that's always standing around AFK dancing, posing, or playing instruments for days, weeks, and months on end. Not to mention all the bots multibox script farming and throwaway accounts standing around every main city shouting gil RMT websites. We'd probably have less server congestion and people in the queue on each world if Square would do something about them.
I've played maybe 10 hours of the new expansion in total because I can't get logged into the game. Meanwhile, I see constant flame threads from people with multiple 90's (including the new classes) whining about how they can't play. I haven't even made it out of the second zone yet. On my third hour now just trying to get logged into the server. I've been 2002'd four times so far and my queue was reset from 2300 back to 4700 earlier. I can't spend my entire play time just trying to get in.
I'm starting to get upset too. Twice today waited from 4k to 1k, then got booted and couldn't reconnect and sent back to 4k again. Waste of an entire day. This is an absolute travesty.
Well, at least (for me right now) I haven't gotten kicked yet
::Keeping Fingers Crossed::
True.... not only you.... I have problem with PS4
On a direct ethernet fiber DSL connection, extremely stable. Was in Q from 3500 for the last hour and half and kicked out around 400 with 2002. Back to 3586 again....
You really need to fix this Square. I can handle waiting in line but being booted back to the end of the line after this error is terrible service on your part.
I have been playing MMO's since UO and I have seen many poor launches, this would have been a pretty reasonable expansion launch if not for all these errors causing people to have to wait hours and hours again. An I cannot recall seeing anything in any MMO where people consistently get errors and are kicked out to the back of the line, so I don't but any excuses, especially this wifi excuse you keep going with as many of us have posted we are on direct ethernet connections and still getting this frequently.
It's not your connection and I don't know where you are getting information that it's a wifi issue with the 2002 errors. You can read the information here: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...9cad782363f25bQuote:

FFXIV’s Error 2002 message pops up if the game’s login server is dealing with high amounts of players or if the player amount in a single login queue for a specific data sails past 17,000 players, though Yoshida has confirmed that the team is deploying an update to increase that number to 21,000.
Tell me about it, got to 74 in the queue after 2 hours only to 2002 and get kicked back to 4500.
No, Yoshi P stated that switching to a wired connection instead of a wifi connection can possibly mitigate the issue. However the fundamental problem is the massive number of players. The fix to increase the login server limit from 17000 to 21000 has already been implemented.
"The reason for this is that, as a result of longer queues and more time spent in the queue, there is an increased likelihood of issues occurring in relation to the player’s internet connection. In most cases, this is considered to be caused by packet loss on the internet route or instability from the Wi-Fi connection in the player's internet environment."
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...9264ac9f24986f
Also, in the announcement you linked:
"The other occurs when your internet connection experiences packet loss or a period of network instability, causing the server connection to be momentarily disconnected. At the moment, we are seeing more cases caused by this."
The 2002 during queue is caused by connection issues which can stem from the large number of players trying to log in as traffic has a huge effect on connection.
there is no way this is wifi related like they said in the message from Yoshi. My PC has a wired connection and while it isn't as bad as it was before, i am still getting 2002 errors when in the queue after a couple hours. Starts out almost 5k people in the queue, and i get a 2002 after a coupel hours when it was down to around 2,300. Logged back in as fast as i could and back at the end of the line around 4000. Not sure what the time limit is since that post was really vague about it, but they really need to increase it.
As someone else already posted just after your post, the exact post you linked notes wifi as a factor, if you look at the original post on the 2002 error that SE did it was also list as an excuse. While its possible wifi could play a part for someone who has poor wifi, the majority of people posting are direct connected, which supports this isn't really a problem with people's wifi, this is on SE's side in fully in their court to fix. It feels like they are trying to pass some of the blame onto the customer and it does not come across well.
It's more that wifi can be an issue, but it is not the only possible issue. That is what the announcement is saying.
I wouldn't say they are passing it off to the costumer; if anyone is getting passed to, it is the ISP's. Which isn't too far-fetched considering ISP's often don't route things rather well. I remember Comcast routing my connection through some very questionable paths. SE can't really do much to make the ISP's fix anything either.
The 2002 error is not due to the client's end FOR THE MOST PART. It's the overload of the server's "number crunching" capacity and connection priority.
Even if you have a super duper connection and not on wifi, you still might/will experience the problem because every connection has some sort of packet loss. Direct connect just has a lower amount. If the number of hops from you to the data center is high, you will most likely experience more 2002 disconnections. This is because every hop you do, you lose some packets and your client side needs to resend. So, math wise (below are arbitrary numbers):
- Let's say you have 10 hops from you to the server and you lose 1 packet for each hop. That's 10 re-request that needs to be done.
Now for those that have more than 50 hops....you can see what is going on. This is usually not a factor if things are running normally because the packets travel super fast (unless you have 200+ MS latency...then it's partly you), but, with how overloaded the servers are...it does become a big factor.
If you want to check how many hops you have, just do a tracert to the servers. Remember, each hop has a packet loss of some sort. Each packet loss needs a resend of the packet. Each send and send back (round trip) is dictated by your latency (i.e. ping in ms). If you put it all together:
- High packet loss due to a lot of client to server hops causes 2002
- High latency (that's why wifi is not a good idea because it adds more to the latency) causes 2002
- A lot of hops plus high latency...feels bad, man
Im tired of people making excuses for them They continued to sell tickets to a concert that was sold out with no more room 3 months ago. They knew that they could not fix the problem 3 months ago with the global chip shortage. But hey they appoligized and continued to sell tickets. I tried to unsub but unfortunately i still have 20 days left. I have never seen anything this bad. My only hope for playing the game will be to log on at 3am est for next month or longer. 1
I feel your pain , sat in queue for 1.5 hours this morning , got in the game , did a few quests and got DC'ed during a cut scene after 20 mins of play (errors below) and was in a 6800 + queue. Sat in queue for almost 2 hours, down to 3200ish , walked away for no more than 7 mins , come back and I'm 2002 and lost my place in line and back over 6700 .
the worst is you cant even queue and walk away to even change out a load of laundry or grab a snack without the fear you will lose your place in line .
