Also, this is what I suspect Gramul to look like were he a Midlander. xD
Greetings!
First of all, we appreciate all of your feedback regarding Hamlet Defense. We know it can sometimes be tough to get used to new gameplay features, so your thoughts about what has been introduced in the game can be helpful. However, constructive criticism is the key element to improving the game. If you dislike anything in particular, please share why you feel that way, and how you would like to see it improved. We also ask to please keep the conversation on topic. The thread seems to have had moments of being off-topic, and if it continues on this path, it may be closed. In the meantime, please continue to share your thoughts in the forum or on the SQUARE ENIX Support site. Thanks again for your participation, and we wish you all the best of luck!
I didn't read through the whole thread, but I'm going to put down what I said in my thread
"Yep 8 people, soo soon you will have to shout in uldah... AGAIN. You also need DOL/H. Yep level 45+. You get anima and some weapons, really silly though. The silly part is anima and random drops, like wtf get a point system in.
Well, hamlet was a fail in my opinion."
Lets not forget it's instanced, meaning you HAVE to have people, you can't just go in and do it with 1 - ? players whenever you like. They really dropped the ball on it I do say.
I personally hoped for something that would be solo possible, but much better with a group. Before someone jumps in citing behest, this isn't the same as behest so don't try that. If no one shows up to the spot at least you can still do behest. I'm just talking battle phase here.
Thank you Gramul. I really do need to take a deep breath about this because I was so hopeful about it.
I think that Hamlet defense was poorly handled for a number of reasons. First off, I crafted many supplies, be it .. not as many to get into the top 20, but I spent alot of time doing it. What did I get for my time? Anima. Thats it, oh and about 25 firecrackers. At this point, Hamlet Defense, gives me NO OTHER REASON to do it, except for when I am lacking Anima.
Also, when I read the posts of those poor people that spent all that time to actually get into the top 20, and get NOTHING or next to nothing, for their time/effort, what kind of inspiration is that for me to continue with this? Why shouldn't I be angry/upset? At this point, I see Hamlet Defense, as nothing more than an outlet for me to obtain Anima.
But, do you know what is the deepest and darkest fear of all? ... It is that I am so hopeful for 2.0, AND... when I experience content, such as this, I am very concerned about what I'm even hopeful for.
Hamlet issues are simple and it comes down to the time vs reward system. It takes 50hrs to ready a Hamlet all for a 25hr potential reward phase.
The second issue is there are most likely 2 different lot pools, 1 that everyone gets and another that only the top 20 have a chance of getting. In terms of potential rewards I'd say the fights and those not in top 20 have a chance at 3 rewards while those in the top 20 have a chance at those 3 items, the DoL hat and the tradeable secondary tools for DoH/L.
The other "reward" is earning anima but with how silly they make it it just isn't worth it after a run or two since by then even at 0 anima you'll most likely be back up to 2/3 of your capped anima, in that case it prolly would work to simply add a seal reward to this so people are more enticed to do the event.
Hamlet will suffer a lot of downtime because the only time it will be popular is during the weekend so people can make the most out of it, but in an instance just as now where it will end at 8am, the next battle won't start til Monday 10am. and end on Tuesday at 11am. Who wants to prepare for a Hamlet in which the time frame just doesn't work for the casual player.
As it stands now for this week the current phase is
Monday 10am-Tuesday 11am. Thursday 1pm-Friday 2pm. Sunday 4pm-Monday5pm.
Wednesday 7pm-Thursday8pm. Saturday 10pm-Sunday 11pm.
So based on the above the most efficient day for this Hamlet won't be til the 19th if my numbers aren't mistaken.
Since only the top 20 get a perk for helping the amount of people willing to take the time to build up forces will dwindle down until they change it to where a certain threshold grants the secondary loot chance.
Hopefully we'll get some news from the devs this Monday when they're back in the office but for now we just have to be patient with it, at least we can be glad in knowing that for those who had been able to do it had no glitches to deal with that may have caused them to lose out on the 25hr phase.
Nobody's doing Hamlet because they have to manaburn the crap out of Garuda before it gets fixed.
inb4 outrage when non doh/dol players find out hamlet defense is now their only way to regenerate anima.
I was looking forward to hamlet then on release I read in the patch notes that it was an instance for 8 people and that turned it off right there. The impression that I got was it was pretty much gonna be a besieged that the servers could handle.Hamlet was a big let down for me but that doesnt mean it was for others. But if they chose this route cause of how the game is coded there is not much they can do. If I remember right there will be a defense type content where you defend Isgard from dragons? If this is true please for the love of god make this open world. Im all for instance raid and open world content find some common ground and split it right down the middle.
ITT: Rage of a thousand dying suns. And something about hamlet defense.
I thought it was going to be like besiged also =X I am so sick of the instanced stuff...but I know the servers can't handle non instanced anyway...ugh. 2.0 can't come fast enough :)
i personally havnt tried it cos i need a pt of 8 from what i read, or am misinformed.
non pt beseige/wotg defend outpost thing(forgot name been years) was what i was thinking it would be like.
but need a pt of 8? thats weird. almost as weird as the OP crying about noone there making PT AT THE HAMLET AREA!
if you need a pt of 8 why not make them in town......./wowwalksoutofthreadsayingwowagain
I'm too busy farming seals for my Storm Gear ;-;
I heard it's great, why this thread?
It was a let down for me tired of fkin instance, next thing you know they are gonna instance the zone your party goes into so no one will bother you!
Never said they should not add the content should be put in when it could be implemented better, but i know thw White knights will defend everything the dev team does. This is the only content i have not liked and i felt like it could have been done better. This 8 man instance shit is gonna hold ppl over for too long.
It is meh.
Not bad but not really something I'm too interested in. The inclusion of DoH and DoL is just getting old.
The guy who makes the pretty rings the Heroes buy does NOT face down the very essence of Chaos in the story. The time and gil it takes to cap one of them is so extensive and long that there is no good reason ANYONE would make it their main over a DoW or DoM. Trying to tie them into everything is just silly and honestly kind of boring. I gather and craft to make gil, not events.
Hell doing Miner in Hamlet was the most thankless thing I've ever muddled myself through. Go to the same 4 points over and over and over and over. No mini game, no thinking involved. Just click this click NPC. At least when I do it in the wild I get a chocbutt load of gil out of the process.
There's no 'white knighting' here. It's called accepting the situation for what it is and realizing there's only so much that can be done, no matter how much a vocal group screams like children about it. It gets old listening to the broken records around here. The whiners can either A) *puts shades on* Deal with it, or B) Wait for 2.0. Those are the options. Complaining isn't gonna make any difference because they've already told us a few hundred times (every time a thread whining about them has been made, really) that this is how it is til 2.0. Common sense would say there's no need to make the same whines every time new instances are released, because we already know why they're doing it. All whining about it does is start flame wars and troll battles.
They should have done it right or not have done it at all. Meaning they should have just waited and worked on something else in place of Hamlet.
Funny thread, let's play!
Well I won't come back over everything that's been said. I do concur having to have a full group is meh and the anima reward is silly, but i'm thinking about something i'm surprised to not have read here yet. I might be wrong, but seeing how this is HAMLET defense (related to city-states, caravans and all), i think a seal reward is on the works. Think about it. They would't have put it in right now cos' we're only fighting on Gridanian territory. Seal rewards for foreign companies would not make any sense, and rewards for the Adders only would not be fair.
Again, i may be wrong but i think it will start to pay when next patch hits and they implement other hamlets.
you do know the word us to some people means me ( going to get us-me some food) just saying
I was excited for hamlet until I actually beat it on my 3rd or 4th try. When it tallied up all those points and I was like "oh, what are these?" and the answer was points. Like imaginary points to feel good about as if I'm going to write down my high score and try and top it next time as a personal goal.
Then I got enough anima to replace me teleing out there +1 and some magicked prisms. So I basically felt like I would have been better off not going at all. I'm sure there are better rewards but I don't think there is anything mind blowing. So I went back to Ul'dah and haven't done it since, because why would I?
I thought the actual fight was fun. But the real issue here is we now have one more 8 man instance except we can only even do it at limited times, and as far as I can tell it has poorer rewards than dungeons or primals. It would have been nice if it were some sort of alternative. Something that If I couldnt get an 8 man group together to go do a dungeon or primal, I could be like, well maybe a few of us can check out Hamlet before I go to bed. Instead of something that is just as difficult to form a group for but less rewarding.
There is no reason that Hamlet should not be offering large amounts of Company seals. The things are already a pain in the ass to grind for. Any alternative way to obtain them is great. But If you make it worth like 100 seals again then people are still just going to do Toto-Rak over and over again to prove that they are a great asset to their company(lol).
Maybe I'm wrong and there are really cool drops in Hamlet but Im not aware of any Id like to obtain. I think one of the problems with this game is that it is so common to go out and win end-game content for a little while and walk away with absolutely nothing. And you feel like You've just wasted a couple hours and would have been better off idling in Uldah watching TV cause at least you would have made progress in a show you like, lol.
+1 to guaranteed totems on Garuda, I'm very happy about that. Although Im not sure why this hasn't been implemented on other primals.
People are aware anima doesnt regenerate anymore, right? We will be forced to participate just to feed our anima interest
