We're not at Stormblood levels of bad launch yet. So stay patient. I'm annoyed too but not much we can do.

Not only we have only 2 data centers, but also less worlds per data center. EU servers are being overloaded with players while other data centers have a better spread ratio. In EU you would get queues (although not long ones) even a couple months before expansion, when there was content drought and people with not much to do, and even after midnight.
You obviously dont play on US servers if you think that US servers are only seeing a few hundred at worst. Last night I was at 4800 on guess what? A US server. today it was 2700. You have a majority of streamers on EU and as such you have a TON of people who followed those streamers as well. Relax and take a chill pill, if ya get the server disconnect error you can quickly log back in and get your spot back. This is day one and by day 7 most of this will be a distant memory
Why are there only two Sharlyan instances, and only enough peopel to create a single Garlemald instance?
Even Tavnair only has enough people to create two instances online.
Clearly the servers "being congested" isn't the problem, SE intentionally lowered the concurrent player cap significantly when compared with Shadowbringers - likely because there's a single Loginserver per data center, which may have been ok for a 2004 MMORPG, definitely not for a 2021 MMORPG.
They admitted the issue months ago about overcrowding. Just wish they would have prioritized that before releasing an expansion that would obviously have made it worse.
Yep, i was down to 1, 2002 error, back in 10 secs and 6504 in queue. This is certainly frustrating to anyone it happens to. The thing is, they knew exactly how many copies were pre-ordered so there should not be any surprise as to the demand that would be coming today.
Because A. You aren't fast enough, or B. You get repeatedly 2002'ed to the point where the grace period to reenter the queue with your spot expires. I myself got 2002'ed at 621 in the queue earlier, logged right back in and I was still in my 621 spot when I queue'd again. A system is in place to save your spot, it's just that repeated errors can still screw you, or again, you aren't fast enough logging back in.
Also, to the OP of this thread: You want money back for something you didn't pay for..? You got the early access as a free bonus, there is no money to be had back. You can always try to refund the entire expansion if you're truly that angry though.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for that mental image.:mad::mad::mad:Quote:
And I'm old, so the only streaming I have anything to do with is in the bathroom.
2 hours I am trying to log in and always Error 2002 every 20 min in't not only Europ NA are in fire too. Hope they will extend ours subscriptions since we can't log on!
Feel free to log in between 2-4am, my friend, when more people are asleep.
That's what I'm doing. And I'm watching Netflix while waiting for the queue to go down.
What are you talking about? You start your connection and then you go on and on for 45 minutes, then you're connected, I must have played it for at least 12 hours today.
And if you have an unexpected disconnection, well, the queue picks up where you left off.
And as Lenneth said, it's a pre-order bonus.
log out and try logging back. NO the queue don't pick you were you left off! BTW we paid sub to play not to try to log in!
You didn't pay for EA you never do it's always a bonus you get and the problem with the servers is known for a few months now, if you want to be mad at someone be mad at the players that are able to AFK in the game or are inside the city's ERPing and not even enjoying the expansion content while others are stuck in login queues or can't even enter the game for hours since EA started.
If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at them.
So you're saying that 15 seconds is too long to get your place back in queue? Because that's how quickly I got logged back in earlier when I got 2002'd and I went from 8 players in queue to being 2201 in queue.
Or, would it be more believable to say it's either not working/not turned on/doesn't exist? Evidence from plenty of different people would suggest it's not working/not turned on/doesn't exist.
Not here to complain, but here to sympathize and just say that I'm also experiencing the same issues. It's pretty peak time in my area so I didn't expect to get in. So my queue time is roughly 1,511 each time; I do indeed get the error and am right back to the beginning. This was predicted to be the case, especially when they said they were unable to purchase other servers because of shortages. I'm in the same boat there too, things I order are taking super long to get here as well. So I'm brushing up on some books I was meaning to read, and drinking the smoothest high mountain jasmine tea in my cupboard to put me in a peaceful head space. I hope all you can do the same, I am really sorry that this is happening.
The only thing im annoyed about is the continuous 2002!errors after waiting in long ques.
I am so tired of running into this ignorant and misguided statement. It is simply not true. The devs are not giving anyone priority, certainly not streamers, and you people need to stop spreading this as if it's actual fact. It really is down to pure luck; if you don't believe me you can look at plenty of streamers from earlier today who didn't get in any faster than anyone else. Some of them spent hours trying to get in. If they got in quickly, it was most likely due to them getting on during a less busy part of the day, not because the devs opened a magic hatch for them. If you want to be made at squeenix, be mad at them for the right reasons.
im in right now
Though I am playing and bale to log in and out as I choose. I will attest that if you log back on when you get kicked from que then you definitely don't have your spot back in the que where you were kicked from. At least it has yet to happen to me. And I was logging back on pretty damn fast.
I logged out to use a fantasia and that was a critical mistake, but I've been playing several hours today. Lv. 75 RPR!
It's annoying but it's just the servers being overloaded. They made a post pre-early access specifically to address that it would be a concern.
“Error 2002” may be displayed when selecting a character in the Character Selection menu. This error is displayed when the login server is experiencing high amounts of traffic or when the number of characters waiting in a login queue for a logical Data Center exceeds 17,000. This is a measure to prevent the server from crashing due to extreme traffic overloads.
Should you encounter Error 2002 when attempting to log in, we apologize for the inconvenience, but ask that you wait a while before trying again."
What I find a bit odd is that SE's sites and posts say the long queues are fine and working as expected, but I, and I'm sure a helluva lot of other people, keep getting the 2002 boot either before login queuing or during, like after a few hundred. So all is dandy, yet the queue spots keep resetting... So... Is that a expected behavior for a countdown?
It would be so nice if it would stop booting me after 30 minutes in the queue. If I'm going to be doing other things at least stop making me have to babysit the game.
From what they posted, it seems like if the Data Center queue exceeds 17,000 then the error 2002 is a failsafe to prevent an overload. They had added a "visit another world" option that would automatically filter you to another server to reduce queues, but it fails when I select the option. I'm assuming that's because the data center queues are heavy across the board.
I think they should have taken longer than a two week delay to launch Endwalker, getting through to the actual server is the savage content, you are meant to only get a 2002 error when the login queue for the Data Center exceeds 17,000 but every time I manage to get into a queue it is under 4,000. The login server isn't capable of handing the login requests.
I think if you have 24 million active users and your data centers in EU, Japan and USA have a theoretical limit of 17k then you aren't ready for an expansion where a lot of those users who irregularly log in are all piling on at the same time, the game was unstable with server issues before Endwalker, we just have increased the problem tenfold with the expansion. You are effectively DoSing your own login server, because people can't connect and they keep trying to reconnect whenever they lose connection.
It is an archaic way to handle server/client interaction. When you login, the data center should assign your client/account a queue position and it should initiate the connection when it has capacity to handle you logging into the game and it can give your account a grace period so if your client crashes or whatever it shouldn't impact your position in the queue.
Being in a queue for an hour and then getting dumped out with a 2002 error message when you enter the queue at 2500, there are issues beyond physical server limitations. How is it possible that queues are both so short and instability is so high?
While I understand where the OP is coming from this should have been foreseen by the player base. There hasn't been an expansion yet that has not been fraught with problems of one kind or another. All Early access is good for is to QA for the servers that should have been performed well in advance of launch. This time it started with the launcher being FUBAR at the onset of live play. It has now morphed into constant 2002 errors when trying to access the data server (just happened 7 straight time to me). When this happens the game is immediately closed and you have to start all over again. If y6ou are fortunate to get past this then you are greeted with a character screen with no character info except for the character name. Upon selecting your character you are met with a que that averages around 2700, in my case. To add insult to injury you stand a 70% chance of getting the dreaded 2002 and have to start all over. Is this any way to run a railroad? Advise for Yoshi-P. Before you release 7.0 you need to conduct an in-depth study of server requirements and plan accordingly. Unfortunately at my age (74,5) I'll be lucky to be around for that launch which is why I was hoping this one would go much better.
I think more to the point is that you shouldn't be requesting a refund for "early access" but for Shadowbringers entirely. I doubt the playability is going to increase by release. It seems like the only thing that'll solve the problem will be more server hardware.
I think everyone should be inundating SE's support with refund requests for shadowbringers because why pay for a game that isn't playable?
to me the issue really is the spontaneous 2002 errors. getting those while you're in a very long queue is just not ok. we should be able to stay in queue. If you cant keep us in queue then just tell us the servers are full and we cant log in so we dont keep trying.
True, that is probably the individual server queue, we aren't seeing the entre data centre queue.
I am not sure why we are being hit with 2002 error whilst already in the queue for some time though, it should only impact people attempting to get into the queue.
