Didn't some job characters show up in some dungeons in the background?
Not really, the lvl 80 quests felt like a conclusion in their stories so i wasnt surprised they would stop making more.
Also im im pretty sure they said theyd be doing Role Quests instead[which i found enjoyable].
Also dev wise we have like 20 classes now, figuring out 20 different scenarios for each is a P.I.T.A.
I can understand why they dont want to make more.
Tho id love to get job titles going forward regardless of job quests existing or not[they could put them in the lvl 90 achievement or something]
I'm part of the minority, but I didn't really care for the role quests; I liked the individualized quests for each job. Obviously I realize why they made the change. 5 role quests is easier and less work than 19 job quests. But I still feel disappointed by the news.
Just another way square has found a way to give us less and less content as time goes on.
Wouldn't be surprised if we didn't even have role quests in another expansion or two.
This really sucks. Some job quests were awful some were great and I want to know their next chapter.
So the job quests for Shadow Bringers I don't remember if it even had the blue marker on it because it didn't actually unlock anything. Part of it was remembering where the lv 70 job quest left off because you'd basically find that NPC in that location. They all were just travel and view cutscenes that I recall and when completed gave you some free materia.
So long as we get job quests for the new jobs that are added, I'm fine with the older jobs being considered 'finished' for now. Many of the job stories were arguably getting very repetitive and stale. I like a fair few of the job quest trainers, but I'd rather see some new characters introduced instead of constantly coming back to the same handful over and over again.
I think role quests are a solid compromise, especially if they expand on some meaningful story elements like in Shadowbringers.
I don't really mind it. Sure, I like a lot of the job quests and NPCs, but even some of the level 80 quests began to feel to me like they were reaching the limits of what could be done with those same groups. With the amount of jobs that are in the game now and the effort required to write a whole questline for each one per expansion, I'm fine with just having the role quests. There are still plenty of other interesting questlines in the game to enjoy.
Yoshida suggested a few months ago that everyone should complete the job quests before 6.0.
Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised to see the role quests bringing all the jobs together somehow.
I also have my theory that they all involve Emet in some way.
I do not mind, in fact I am very curious how they will go here.
The thing in ShB role quests... the fact that our character was in another place, the First so then going to lv80 quests back to the Source, giving them some "closure" and showing how strong you got (as you explain your experience to the job quest npcs)
Now with how the MSQ is going and the post ShB role quests, it definitely will be interesting.
I am actually excited because there is big potential.
Those quests were fun!
No, and that's because many 80 quests felt like a conclusion. We did outgrow our teachers since Heavensward, and like in the real world we have to move forward to bigger and better things (like saving existence). I'd like to see some of them in the MSQ/Side quests more. Heck, Estinien was literally promoted to main character after a few expansions, as a Trust also!
Give the scions a rest, and have a couple of the job quest mentor tag along for the next adventure. Like a certain Hyur/Elezen Machinist, or the DRK guy?
