the faster you win the more time you save to do more runs, so yea, you do get more weapons.

Does it matter who gets it faster? Why do people act as if someone will gets a yeast infection everytime someone gets a drop? Dumb ass argument.
If weapons always drop that they want yep. If not, nope. So it doesn't matter how quick you beat it if you still don't obtain what you want. Especially since the mantra is "Having fun doing it x way", what was the purpose of even stating a war tank would make it faster when it was very obvious they were having fun doing it the way they did, regardless of time to beat?
How are they killing the plumes? I can't tell really in the video..
YO I'm pretty sure anything you do in the game would be more fun when you win on the job you like playing the most, even if the content is a grind.
Hm, I did see a Ring of Talons combo though given who was recording you don't always see the entire thing, but I would likely say just the usual ones who can do AoE damage, drg's ring of talons is very good for plume killing in my experience.

This is true of course, but as far as i know this vid was made as proof that it can be done this way, not because its the jobs they enjoy playing the most. It can in fact be the opposite, maybe the guy playing pld hates it and would rather be war but is doing it for the vid.

Reading this thread made a random thought come to me...
With Content Finder, if it works similarly to WoW, we would queue up as a role: Tank, Healer, DPS. If a PLD can queue as tank, DRG/MNK as DPS, etc...Do you all think people would actually drop party and re-queue until they get the setup they want?
It wouldn't be in their control, so maybe it will sort of force people to play all kinds of different party setups.

Standard stuff. Plumage is used, WAR Steel Cyclones right away, BRDs pick them off. The DRG assists with the double spawn before Astral Flow using Ring of Talons.
Most parties are trying to skip or reduce the length of phase 2 (and hell, phase 3...) by committing as much DPS on Garuda during that part. These guys didn't bother doing that because they clearly survived phase 2 very well.
Ppl aren't doing it because of speed, they are doing it because they can't do it otherwise. What you are describing is an exploit not a tactic, an exploit which will be *patched* and then no one is doing it in 3 mins. There is no excuse for cheating, faster weapon drops or not. If it was a legit tactic you'd have a point, but its not legit at all. That being said, the reality of the situation is ppl can't beat Garuda...so they cheat to do it. It has nothing to do with saving 6 mins.

Someone mentioned wanting to see this from the PLD point of view.. I would also like to see that. And I'm glad to see PLD getting the tank love in this vid. (^_^)b
A good number of people used to do that if the heroic instance was Heroic Halls of Reflection and we had a warrior tank. Reason being that HoR required CC and use of LoS to clear the waves of undead before the first two bosses, whereas a Paladin or Death Knight tank had plenty of AoE to make it not needed. With proper coaxing I used to be able to get people to stay, but yeah.
Ideally, the content should be designed so that the average person would not throw a fit if your dungeon group turns out to be PLD, RNG, PUP, WHM for a four-man run. Which should also be able to clear the content with the same efficiency as WAR, BLM, RDM, WHM, which should perform similarly to PLD, SAM, THF, BLU (BLU being the healer in this comp) and so on.
I'm hoping they reuse the pillar mechanic if they decide to bring in Shiva before 2.0. Then I can make the parallel with Sapphiron/Sindragosa. =P

That just show that if ppl know how to play their classes well, they can do it. The problem is, they don't. If you form a party randomly , chances you pull it out like in the video are pretty slim. The way I see and experienced , most get owned for AF because they lack coordination to take feathers out.
Yeah that is how it seemed in that video >< With my group last night there was maybe 1-2 but the BRD took it out very fast...when she does double plumes before her AB though that is where it was big of a challenge for us to manage to take them all down. The rocks were all up..but like the top parts were missing lol..happens everytime...so frustrating :(
You need to damage her quickly. Her warping is just as damaging as missing the plumes. If she was warping more than like 3 times then thats why you were taking so much damage. Anything after that and its damn near unsurvivable even if you don't miss any of the plumes.
I think the community would be more open to this if there were other rewards or acknowledgement. Similar to how "World First" is the top honors for new content, why not have subdivisions to that. "World First: All Classes", "Fastest Kill Time". All content can be done with all classes but of course, it's not the most efficient currently, especially since we have no type of combination attacks/battle regimens to promote more class diversity for faster kills.
Honestly I think if SE added something like 5-7 different jobs/classes to get something extra, dungeons for example, instead of speed run for DL body have it be complete whole dungeon as 5-7 different jobs to get that chest, we would see a lot more "different" setups

lol its not like that at all. If you notice the drg is activating a combo from the front/side and running back behind garuda by the time the skill goes off. Also the DRG runs out from behind the rock before the aoe animation, and still doesn't take dmg due to the latency of the game. They just abused latency for their benefit so it appeared as if there was none at all. If you watch it again, more closely, you'll see what I mean.
Ive watched this video so many times...its pro. Lol we need to talk about why melees aren't avoiding aoes but aren't really taking much dmg. That is one boss whm.
I'd rather have ten minutes of fun and lose than three minutes of hiding behind a rock spamming thunder combos.
