Confusing Restricted Names

I kinda agree with you I just disagree with it because I think it's lazy and catches people in the crossfire.
It's like moderating words in a lazy and broad way too, you end up censoring completely harmless words in other languages just because they have a '' naughty word '' built into it.
In worst case scenarios people can even end up being banned from platforms altogether because they used their real name which has happened before, even tho it's common in your native country.

I don't think that it should be assumed that someone is doing it deliberately for a negative reason either, when I google '' Thule '' nothing related to that bad stuff even comes up ( could be based on location tho ).
There's a lot of other stuff like this I can think of like the okay hand symbol and how people lost their minds about that and started going after completely innocent people, I just believe more in benefit of the doubt.
I get that companies are not going to operate like that, I just fundamentally disagree with it and will criticize it.

You can't use grapefruit as retainer name ether cause it contains rape in it. Kind silly to block anything containing a word inside the name.

Funny part is every other game I've played actually looks at the rest of the word to determine if it's okay to use or not.

WoW had some backlash about it before and even the text profanity filter would pick up words like grape and stuff. God forbid you want to share a chicken recipe with guildmates. They've since revised it due to feedback. Why SE can't do this is beyond me.

On the first page of google results there is a wikipedia page on Thule. In it's table of contents it lists "In N*zi Ideology" as an entire category.

Yeah true, but that might be for NA google. Its probably different for JP google, or some other country.

Plus it might be overkill, but they might just want to get rid of the words that might be problematic. Like some stuff that we don't find offensive might be highly offensive in other languages. Its the problem with globally launched games.

EDIT: Also it might be what google knows that you look for. I've done military history stuff in the past so its right up top.

I was curious (especially since I don't use Google) so I tested this and I saw 0 search results about N*zi, almost everything was about that Swedish outdoorsman brand, and the single result that wasn't was a Wikipedia article about old world cartography:

Same.

Brings up the company, and companies selling them for me. As well at the group that owns the company.

I absolutely detest blanket bans on words with obscure meanings. Or innocent words in other languages getting nailed because it's spelled as an inappropriate word in English. See: Swedish.
