Elezen :)

I made an old man Elezen because I've rarely seen the face used. Best decision I made. Love his beard. :3

This thread makes me happy :)

I found 3 to be funny. My game wife changed to Elezen when I did and sometimes we stand around the inn in Gridania posing and chatting. So in that case, you WOULD see two female Elezen together. LOL

Ishgard is one of my favorite cities in the game and it's...elezen!

I really do have an urge to give Elezen a genuine chance, last time I just switched back to Highlander right away because of the animations.
Having spent some time running around with a new character they're not THAT bad.
They still feel a tad stiff in comparison but not on the level I felt at first.

Is there a way you can link your gear with the glam etc to a new character somehow?
I kinda want to see how she looks in my current glam to compare.

Their run is just… gah. But you get used to that, I don’t even notice it anymore. It’s just her run. I look silly when I run too. I can relate :D

I find the rest of the animations extremely beautiful, there’s something regal and elegant about their movements. And very down to earth at the same time, nothing cutesy. Personally I love that, but personal preference is personal. I’m surprised they are so rare, I absolutely love my character.

I think you'd have to make one of your main character's retainers into a copy of your alt and dress them up.

I was actually surprised to see how low the numbers are for Highlanders too.
Part of the reason it's hard for me to pass up on my Highlander is because of the animations, I main MNK and I think the animations fit MNK a lot.
They look a bit heavier and more imposing, if I played a spellcaster I'd probably feel differently tho.

Yeah I fully get that, they suit casters very well, I agree. I’ve only dabbled in SAM when it comes to melee, so I’m clueless there haha. From observation I’d agree some other races suit melee better, better oomph factor there, so I get your dilemma. Stuff like that is personal, for some that kind of contrast is exactly what makes it fun while for others it doesn’t click.

Elezen master race.

The giraffe neck and low shoulders have forced me away from certain gear glamours, though.

I honestly miss my Elezen... She had a perpetual 'Worried' look.

I've been playing Elezen for the last few years now. I like playing the women because you can really make them androgynous. A lot of people never even realized mine was female. I was trying to create a character similar to Faris from FFV so that's exactly what I was going for. But I totally agree. I see more females than males but it's nice seeing them in a roulette party every once and a while. It seems they're one of the least popular races right next to the Roes and Highlanders (who I also think look awesome if created right...especially the women <3)

Someone on Youtube posted a poll asking what their favorite race was and immediately the Roes and Elezens were voted out. It's a shame.

I've been my same grey-skinned, black and purple man-bunned, light-eyed Duskwight self since 2014 and won't change. Only with the current sale on Fantasia have I made any changes, and then only slight ones to reflect the years of adventuring and all the travel back and forth to Norvrandt. His cheeks are a bit more drawn and the eyes have taken on a slight purple hue.

I will always and forever be a Duskwight Elezen.

The only thing that stops me from being an elezen for a extended period of time is the running and sprinting animations. It just looks so awkward; if they fixed the way they moved in game then I would swap immediately no questions asked. It also would be nice if male elezen got a face similar to Aymeric's; since let's be honest.. Aymeric's face is pretty hot ngl.

You can make some good looking elezen, but the way they move is like they have a rod firmly stuck up their butt and they can't get it out. Their /cposes are regal and elegant though ^.^

Pretty sure every race has the issue it's just Elezen are the "ugliest" of the bunch so they're double done.

Probably has something to do with the fact they're easier on the eyes overall, shorter, and most of their racial hairstyles are medium to long hair which makes it easier to ignore.
It takes a lot of effort to pretend their animations aren't garbage relative to any other race.

Where as elezen are the complete opposite. Most elezen look bad where it takes an attempt to make a catgirl look bad.
Elezens are also taller than most races and their racial hairstyles are shorthaired meaning attention to the neck is usually the first thing people see.

Elezen are pretty goat. Pretty dapper with hats.

I’m really lost when people say Elezen are ugly. I don’t see it, I find them gorgeous and they are far more interesting to me than the ‘cute’ races. I get that others prefer those and I wish them much enjoyment! But Elezen ugly? What? They’re amazing :)

Yeah, all the races have long necks, but due to elezen proportions, it's much more pronounced for them. Like is said as well, their racial hairstyles aren't really flattering to these aspects either. It's no coincidence that to actually make an elezen look good, it takes quite a bit of effort making glamour that specifically hides these proportions, and yeah, the animations definitely don't help matters either.

Miqo'te, on the other hand, are probably one of the easiest races to glamour, even with their tail. Their proportions are alright, and their animations are decent. I personally don't like the race much though, but I have played it semi-often due to this.

It's not that elezen are ugly, they're far from it. Their proportions are just.. off and extremely hard to glamour around. If they had the proportions of Viera, then a lot more people would play them since Viera more or less fits the frame for female Elezen and glamour actually looks good on Viera in many different armor sets/styles. For Elezen it's harder to make them look good in different glamour sets aside from elegant or classy glamours, or try to make them look like Bayonetta most of the time, plus they run weird. That's a big turn off for a lot of players, myself included. If elezen didn't run so strangely, I definitely would be playing one right now since I usually always play taller races or elves in MMOs.

Their emotes aren't as expressive either, similar to Viera and apparently a lot of people want to go for a cutesy appearance like Miqo'te or Au Ra, which those races can easily fit so many different glamour styles without looking strange and their run/sprint animations are really good. Female Elezen are also unfortunately limited to really 2 faces, the mature face with and without make up, and the youthful face with and without make up. The other races at least has some variety with their face options, especially for their female characters. Elezen... not so much :c

Oh yeah I def noticed that when making her, variety in faces in non-existent haha. In that sense I do get those who’d love some tweaks in the character creation, that would be amazing. I guess I’m weird but I would regret it a bit if they made the proportions more ‘correct’, I actually like the somewhat elongated proportions. In that sense I feel they fill their own niche, they bring something very different to the table. With glams I feel it’s a bit of the same thing, they may not work the best in some glams but work great in others which may suit other races less well. Personally I love the rather classical outfits anyway, and on an Elezen they look fantastic. But I get your points, and I understand it will prevent some from playing one even tho in theory they might like to.

What you don't like the other two face options, Sin 1 and Sin 2? They have a lot of meme potential. And yeah Elezen are probably the one race that need their own glams because they look so bad in the other race's glams.

You see? She looks very nice. Over time I actually stopped noticing the neck especially when she's in an arm cross pose or in the heat of battle. They can be dark and edgy or very elegant. I wouldn't call them cute like the miqo and aura and I think that's what I like about elezen.

Yep, it's just those things that hold elezen back a lot. And as for male elezen, I extremely dislike the baby face on them. Every time I see a male elezen with that face option, it honestly creeps me out since again the proportions don't line up well and looks... off. It's honestly why when Endwalker drops, I refuse to use the boyish/super young face that the male Viera's have when I fantasia over. It just looks off. Don't like it lmao

True, but then again a lot of the classy glams look better or about the same on Viera (just a shame Viera can't use modern aesthetics yet until EW), since again Viera and Elezen have more or less the same niche with the slender, tall body. It's just that Viera have better animations than Elezen which is unfortunate. Would love to see elezen get some love as well since they aren't bad... just animations.

Well they certainly do, it's not too hard to create a meme worthy face with those options! But I am jealous of Elezen's hemphen sets, those sets are super pretty.

Yeah I don't notice the neck in battle either Instead I notice their bad animations. But if you can get over all that stuff they're a very beautiful race, in fact they're the best race imo.

I love how both elezen and bunny girls look. I just can't play them. There is something in the females of both races with the animations where they just SNAP very abruptly into the default standing pose. It is so abrupt and jarring I just can't stand to see it.

I really wish I could play either race but I can't get past that one thing.

I don't often see a nice looking elezen- Most people make really ugly, androgynous elezen or because of how all of their faces look the same, you don't see a unique one.
I did like my long girl when I had her, but their run animation and body proportions just made me change back to a cat. If they had more appealing hairstyles and better running animations, I'd only play them
