A person who is capable of trolling is actually educated. People like Venandi are probably constantly laughing at anyone who takes them seriously. Thinking that they lack education is underestimating them and they want you to do just that. They wouldn't be trying to appear like an idiot if they didn't want you to think that.

It also arguably requires a decent understanding of human behaviour and psychology. Knowing what buttons to press and so on. Granted, large segments of the FFXIV community do not appear to be particularly difficult to rile up but the point stands, I think.

I'd also note that more than a few supposed 'trolls' are, in fact, likely just regular players who recognised that even if they make legitimate threads then the same posters eager to cry foul about 'trolling' will show up to dismantle any and all suggestions made towards the game.

It's quite fascinating, really - I wonder if anybody else has noticed a pattern where some of the same individuals constantly keeping threads such as this one active just so happen to be amongst those who rush to shoot down constructive threads as well?

If people are serious about wanting to clean up this forum then I think they need to stop responding to what they claim are 'troll threads' and avoid stifling constructive threads.

I gotta say as a Balmung player who was active during the year long, lockdown I'd recommend all Aether players get comfy. SE will keep the Datacenter locked for as long as they need to in order to rebalance the NA region. No amount of begging worked back then. It's not going to work now.

Going with dumb because they also stated all you have to do is "but the servers, ship it and then plug in the power supply." Like ... that's not how ANY of this works. Not even a computer is just "buy and plug in the power." You actually need peripherals and network and software and ... well you get the idea.

Damn SE should unlock Aether in a instant now. Titanmen or more Titanwomen is mad and if you prevent him from creating alt characters we will lose probably half of the playerbase which consists only of titanmen alts.

So free Aether! FFXIV will die without all the Titanmens!

I am with OP fix your servers when i am in mood to play i want to able to log in and play.
Few times i managed to have full overwatch ranked match while sitting in queue like ??

Few times i want to play with friend was in queue and by time it passed friend was not in mood .

And as far i know this is low time in FFXIV so if there is big patch/expansion and there will be queue seems good way to lose players literally not fun not being able to play when you are in mood to.

Well, you are with a troll then. I know you might say it makes no difference cause their opinion is still valid.

To that i say, SE can't just bulk up their stuff for just the case something like this surge happens. It's like asking the city to double the highway in size cause you had a 30min traffic jam this morning. Even if you were in a great mood to go to work, sometimes it's not really necessary to bulk up servers to amounts that would be not profitable in the long run.

But hey, welcome to titanmens simp army. No wonder he has always all gatherers and crafters up, since you fellas make yourself into his tools.

You're que times aren't even affected by this lock out though. Heck you're not even part of the affected data center. Everyone knows there will be que times come November. There will also most likely be a few instanced zones. I don't think many could have predicted the game becoming so popular let alone Blizzard shooting themselves in the foot.

To be fair, in EU we're facing bad queues overall but it has nothing to do with this subject. Nor would their approach to aquire said hardware work on...amazon lol

As if Aether is the center of the world and life doesn't exist outside of it. There are still 7 other Data Centers across all regions for them to create alts on.

Order servers off Amazon. Holy crap, that's gotta be one of the best responses (on the Bizarro scale) to a server congestion thread I have ever seen, anywhere, on anyone's forums, in the last decade.

Server infrastructure for MMOs includes all of the following, each of which must be purchased and maintained separately:

- Authentication servers
- Database servers
- Map servers
- Instance servers

...and probably more that I'm not privy to. A global MMO like FFXIV will require multiples of each of the above in order to "expand a datacenter," and that's just the initial purchase price. They'd then need to calculate maintenance, operating costs and upkeep for the foreseeable future. Then, all of that needs to be extrapolated into something the finance team can approve (or disapprove, and require a revision).

Delivery would be a bit more than your local UPS driver dropping off a large box at SE headquarters. It'd be several trucks, or a semi, and there will be forklifts involved to offload the new hardware.

Amazon it. LMFAO. SE, make sure you have Prime for quick delivery.

Oh I know it does. Why I pointed out that their cry about que times aren't affected by Aether being locked. Their posts so far make me raise a brow as why complain about que times in a troll thread asking for the lock down to be removed.

I like Aether DC, just the way it is. I believe it should stay LOCKED, to allow other DC's Worlds to experience some growth in new faces, sounds pretty grand to me.

Honestly? They probably have a spec of specific parts that have to be filled exactly, so that every blade is running exactly the same parts, so the spare parts at each center are as interchangeable as possible. So they have an entire cargo container FILLED with ready to run machines that's then trucked over, attached to power, tested, retested, brought up to spec, and then given the images. Then retested, then networked with the existing center.

Even if they got it delivered NOW, figure at least a week and a 8 hour downtime.

No, its Aethers turn to stay in jail. Crystal has been locked up for far too long.

It's more than simply buying new servers. Players aren't being punished at all. Pick another data center and go.

They've literally said multiple times that they can't buy any servers because nobody is selling them. There's a major shortage of parts needed to make more servers because covid shut down the mining operations for certain minerals needed and they haven't gotten back up to speed yet.
