One can't deny that people want stuff.
Otherwise people wouldn't complain as much as they are doing right now that they didn't get "this" or "that".

I'm not saying that anyone is right here.
All I said was that people want things.
Never said they were right.
Idunno if my message got through.
But I do not endorse the "I want" cries from people.
I think people should relax and accept what they got and maybe things are different next time.
One can't get everything, better to accept that fact and move on instead of crying.
My comment was simply my view on why people are crying as they are.
I'm really sad about the jumping puzzle not being apart of the event this year. Even if flying is turned on/off, I would of loved to still be able to attempt it, I think I've only gotten to the top once, and I would of really loved to try to make it again...
My heart sank when I found out the hard way the jumping puzzle was gone...
So are seasonal events super difficult to work on while preparing new content or are they “as easy as flipping a switch” which is it? Also, crazy how they managed a better event a month after 5.0 dropped, which they surely had to have prepared a fair bit beforehand. Yes I realize priorities lie elsewhere but that’s ALWAYS the case because of their patch schedule allowing them very little downtime. And it’s not just about not getting a “slutty swimsuit” it’s about the quality of the items we ARE getting. Housing items can only be appreciated by the small portion of the playerbase that have houses.
And again, the reason events were trimmed or culled last year was because they were on a tight schedule making up for lost time from the WFH transition. And yet last year’s event was still better than this.
At least XIV's seasonal events are different every year. Sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller than the previous.
That reminds me of my time in WoW where I literally skipped the events every year because they almost never changed. Rarely you'd see a reward update.
In the middle of this isn’t a bad idea, assuming the game has space for additional equipment: perhaps release the non quest content of old events and just have them be a staple (like haunted mansion for Halloween, tower climb for moonfire, etc). Nothing too fancy.
And even then, I think an elegant solution would be to give a past glamour recolor. For moonfire, could be one of the early bikini sets in a new color or dyable; again nothing fancy, but veterans shouldn’t get upset about whatever exclusivity, and new players get something similar if not better than older rewards. Halloween could easily give out a pumpkin head again in new variation or color.
Or (and this is a huge stretch), maybe allow veteran reward tokens to be exchangeable for Mogstation items? I’m sitting on 100s…
I just wanna climb the tower again :x
I do miss the jumping puzzle. It was a fun community experience. After they announced they wouldn't have one for MFF anymore, they added a jumping puzzle fate to the Gold Saucer which gives MGP if you want your jumping puzzle fix. The setting for it is actually pretty cool! It's not the same, but it's something. There's also a jumping puzzle in Kugane, and I think there's one on the tower in the Shirogane housing wards too.
Maybe someone could organize an informal community event at one of those.
We could even hold our own swimsuit contests with existing gear if we wanted to, just to have fun and be creative.
I mean...
Every piece of content of this game has been seeing cuts and cuts. This isn't new.
Seasonal Events even existing anymore impresses me. I just wish they were to return previous events by now, to get those achievement points.
That could be fun :)
I do wonder what the community's take on having grander, but repetitive, holiday events would be. I've always enjoyed GW2's holiday/special events as they're typically more involved, can have challenging jump puzzles, or things you have to collect, scavenger hunt type events, races, and a bunch of other various things. You can actually work on gaining rewards for the entire length of the event vs. spending 20 minutes doing some quests and a fate and being done for the next 2 weeks. :X
The flip side to that is that the events are the same every year, but again, they're far, far more fleshed out and involved. The reward currency also carries over from year to year, so if you don't manage to collect everything you wanted, you can save it and continue the next year. I actually really prefer GW2's style events over XIV.
I appreciate that they try to bring unique stories and prizes each year, but it seems like the team is stretched thin at the best of times. Not that they don't try, but they can only do so much, ya know?
the event is odd. Having a polar bear on summer is like having a swinsuit on winter.
I've accepted years ago that most events are simple and short, you could say bad even. But I'm sad they didn't bring back the jumping course for the tens of thousands of recent new players to see.
After seeing all the seasonal events this year now makes me wonder how good endwalker will be or if it be boring like these events. I have seen all the events since ffxiv first came out. Not sure why they couldn't have just reworked a older event and had it this year. I think it been way better then what they had this time.
