Well, past Faires have revolved around the making of snow cones, and given the art and one of the new items focuses on a blue snow one with snowflakes, so it’s not a huge stretch to assume we are going to have to go somewhere to procure ice or snow.

The only time I get to play the Moon Fire event and it has no bikini or skirts but instead a bear.
Oh well I will use the mount as my temporary Warrior one until I get the achievement...
Swimsuits have been traditionally every other year. If we get one it'll probably be next year if the pattern holds true. Mount looks cute so i'm happy with it.
So no swimsuits ? I thought it was event related and I could get them. Is there no other way to obtain them ?
They usually alternate between years on glam vs other stuff.
This complaint comes up every off year... For every event lol...
It's a cool mount, but yes we've gotten spoiled by great summer glams during past moonfires; they're some of the best glamours in the game.
Why is it every time an event comes up someone isn't happy? They (usually) alternate holiday events with glam and mounts.
You can get a bikini or swimming trunks for achievement certificates in Gridania, at the npc Jonathas

I mean they could/should start meeting customer's expectations by hiring an extra 3D artist to create more glamours. Even if it's a temporary/yearly contract position. I know the devs say that just hiring more 3D artists doesn't solve the problem but I personally don't believe that. It probably stresses the Art director to have to manage more assets/people but that's where you raise their salary so they do that happily.
I did research on this for the past 3 years:

It’s a significant step down in quality of rewards.
Idgaf about the rewards just give me my summer jumping puzzle back
There can be various view points but I feel that most of us can agree that getting a winter themed mount instead of summer themed gear set from a summer event is disappointing to say the least
Who doesn't enjoy a nice cool coca cola during a hot summer day.
And who doesn't know about the coca cola bear whom is a polar bear.

There is never any in-game way to obtain old event rewards, outside of very unique situations (like mog-tomestone trades) or when an event repeats (like lightning returns).
Most old event items wind up on the Mogstation for real money...once they go real money, they never come back :(
Regarding swimsuits that ARE available in game and un event related, there are several you can get:
The Marketboard (Level 1 stuff): Seach Halter for girls, Lei, Vest or Talisman for boys tops, for example.
Mor Dhona: There's the Cascadier Uniform you can trade in to get these. (Get the vouchers from Jonathas in Gridania; someone above posted this already)
The 63 Dungeon sets from Shisui of the Violet Tides (Stormblood) are all swimwear themed.
I like bears. Grizzly is my preferred ursine, but I won't turn up my nose at a Polar Bear.
I can't even remember the last time I cared about an event item. Probably the last moonfire faire, which seemed to be the last time they ever gave out some decent glamour during an event (No I ain't gonna count that moogle hat with a heart-shaped pom). Can't rely on that any more, I guess. Instead we get our... 4th, 5th bear mount? Lovely.
The furniture is also lousy for the most part since it's often just food and outdoor furniture which only ~10% of the playerbase can actually place. And even if you are part of that 10%, you only have 40 slots, max, to work with. Can't even build a theme out of them since their styles are so wildly different from other housing objects.
I'm never opposed to a free mount, especially a bear that looks like it walked straight out of a Coca Cola commercial. Works for me. Then again I'm not big on the swimsuit thing either, but I do collect those when they are available from the Moonfire Faire.
How many bikinis do you need? :)
I don't really like that there's no glam, and I don't really care for the housing items. But I like the bear.
Just search for level 1 gear in the various slots (head, body, legs, feet) and you'll find the swimwear in that list without needing to know names.
There's also the hempen underwear sets, some of which can double as swimwear, and some proper gear pieces like the Eikon Cloth shorts and Ruby Cotton Smalls that can work for something different.
Also you only need to read the description to work out why we might be getting a polar bear instead of traditionally summer-themed stuff.
And even without reading it, it's not that hard to guess it's either going to be ironic or a novelty "snow in summertime" thing.Quote:
A blazing heat sweeps over the land, and as the cities find themselves festooned with decorations, it can only mean the Moonfire Faire is upon us. Rumor has it the event committee has a special surprise in store this year to keep festivalgoers cool—frosty treats that are guaranteed to please and leave any reservations about spending time out in the sun on ice.
Be nice if they maybe to have the 1.0 swim gear dyable from a season event.
Please understand, Limsa's aetheryte needs a new flavor of the month.
I mean the bear is the same colour as the moon, so I like it
Plus they've given us glamour for the faire in the past before
I wish it was one of these bears. They're far less Baloo; more Nanuk:

I prefer Scarebear over Carebear when it comes to mounts.
No.
If you're gonna give us a mount at least make it related to summer.
If you're not going to give us glam, don't shove glam into the cash shop right after.
I was really hoping they weren't going to do this. All it's doing is making me question whether or not we're going to get less and less compared to previous years from now on.
I don't know, getting a new mount instead of some tacky glam no one will ever use, makes a nice change.
Just think back to the new years hats we get every year, that two races can't even wear.
See, I'd actually use that. I think it'd look pretty great running around in the icy fields in the frozen PvP map.
I'm not fond of the overly cutesy aesthetic that seasonal events typically lean on. The development team should be seeking to appease a broader variety of tastes. For example, it'd be neat if at least one of the Halloween events had a genuinely unsettling atmosphere and 'bad end' for once.
