@Gruntler: Thats my main problem with it too. They could have done a normal event, just like they have done for Noctis or Lightning. Instead of telling some kind of story, the iconic Nier characters could have just appeared, done some stuff and disappear again. Just like older events did it. It would have given those that liked the characters some fanservice and the rest of us all the loot that we got through the raids anyway. The 24 man then could have been used to give us a story about the first. Win Win for everyone imo.
Instead they went with giving another game series (which is not even a FF game) a whole 24 man raid. And even there its not something silly like us somehow going through a portal and seeing some of the Nier stuff but the Nier stuff being somehow part of the Shard world...without anyone even noticing it before that. You really want us to believe that somehow the factory was never noticed before? Not by Vauthry, not by us, or the dwarfes? Even if the mountain was still on top of that for some time, nobody noticed it being built? Or what about the mountain disappearing and now showing it? Its lke its somehow there and part of the world now but still somehow not?
If you do something that changes the world, at least do it so that it makes somewhat sense..after all it will stay there unlike other events which are basically gone when they are done.
And as others said, with Amaurot there could have been stories that could have somewhat explained it.
Honestly even the monster hunter event that gave us one permanent fight was better explained than this one..at least there I could believe that somewhere on Hydealyn monsters like that exist.
