Maybe not the entire player base (although the entire player base will be able to use them unlike ultimates, only aviable to the top players) but its true that very few players actively play ultimates in comparasion to players who enjoy glamour and fantasia

It's great for drumming up hype. They probably made millions from pre-orders just with that Viera teaser alone, let alone future fantasia sales, doesn't matter if those people find out that male Viera got the short end of the stick just like their female counterparts did and end up switching back to whatever they had before.

You know what's funny? The content I'm talking about that's being cut isn't ultimate content. Ultimate fights are battle content that reuses models and other assets, so ultimate isn't affected by male veria.

I was mostly talking about other casual glamour type content and other type of content that requires new game assets.

Who knows how many side quests and NPCs got/will be cut thanks to male Vieras.

Casuals will prob be affected the most. Kek.

We can basically end this thread by saying we don't know, buuuuuut since the art team and the animators (not the combat designers) have to work on male Viera there could be the potential of losing things we otherwise would've had, basically any content that requires new art assets or animations to be made.


Do we lose an ultimate because of this? Very unlikely since most of the assets for an ultimate fight are reused, so they already existed and didn't require much extra work, and the main focus of an ultimate fight are the mechanics which is done by the combat team who are most likely not working on Viera (because why should they?).

If we do lose an ultimate it is not because of male Viera but because of some other issue, maybe mismanaged resource allocation later down the line.


Edit: Funny that MPK actually came to the same conclusion.

Well I won’t play one but I argued for adding them because I’ve always been the one arguing for more content from a big company like SE in general.

We should be demanding new races with every expansion, 3-5 new jobs every expansion minimum, 5-10 dungeons every patch, etc.

I always chuckle when I see people using the "bUt BigGuS CoMpAnY" argument to coerce a company into giving in into their demands. It shows very little knowledge of business management

Answer: on graphical side - likely none. Though the situation with lack of hair for femViera/maleHrothgar in ShB may be (and probably is) due to the fact they were working on counterparts.

Also: dunno about others, but I'll either fantasia into one or create an alt I'll actually play. Decision largerly depends on face options they'll have in CC.

The dev responsible for making models isn't let's say the same that makes the ultimates and so on. Also they pushed back the release to november and will release female Hrothgar at a later date. That already speaks for itself that they made the time for it. Just because you don't enjoy a certain part of content doesn't mean it shouldn't be in game or took away from something else. Heard the same thing about Island Sanctuary. We don't know their exact resource management after all.

TBH I really would like to know what was or if a anything was cut due to adding male bunnies. Since they quoted budget and time as a reason as to why we may never get another race.

I hope they cut everything and when we get to Endwalker the game is just a void with a male bunny in the middle.

endwalker was just a code name for the end of savage, extreme, ultimate content ;)

Think of it this way, me. It's mostly the catboys that will go male viera. So their population will be affected significantly, thus making male Hyur the top played race by a huge margin and male lalafell would be the second top.

There are things I'd like more but tbh, as someone who didn't ask for male viera and someone that's indifferent about the whole controversy, I actually quite like the end result. They look bitchin'.

Bait thread is bait, but some people will probably look in here wanting a serious answer anyway. So...

If anything was cut it would be art team resources, most likely those that would have been put into hats for viera and hrothrgar. Also might be why we didn't get any new hairstyles for viera or hrothgar this expac.

Also, a funny thing. One of the promotional screenshots for the new job showed Hrothgar without the signature hat of the job, so make of that what you will.
