We are also thining of one large PvP content with it’s own area and large-scale battle.

YoshiP - This is completely new; We are calling this PvP Front Line for now

YoshiP - Yes
GameWatch - will this be with the existing 3 cities or 3 companies?
YoshiP - We cannot say the details yet but please think of it as several powers mixed in and fighting.
GameWatch - How many players maximum can fight?
YoshiP - That will depend on the power, I think it will be fun with about 40.
GameWatch - how about 100 vs 100?
YoshiP - Depending on the Players leader it may be possible. Depending on the PC spec there may be players who have to look down or they can’t move (laugh). With MMORPG if you wanted to max out you can try to do so. In the MMORPG I used to play with large-scale raid we had too much players to defend the enemy and it blew the server..... that time we didn’t calculate the server spec (laugh)
GameWatch - With the new enging it seems those types of problems can be solved.
YoshiP - There will be physical limitations; We wont put any stop with this times engine so the player can decide on the maximum limit or can turn off all the effect; it’s set up that way. If you use a high powered machine you should be able to withstand it, other than that it will depend on the zone servers maximum limit (laugh)
GameWatch - For image does it require strategy?
YoshiP - Yes I would like for them to take over bases.
GameWatch - When will this be released?
YoshiP - This will be after the colloseum.

For example it will be interesting if that controlled the entrance of another content. It has it’s own zone so for those that don’t like PvP they don’t have to step in. For the growth you get inside there will only be for PvP; For PvP lovers want to make it where they want to keep on staying.
When taking out China, Korea, and other Asian areas there are about 15% of users in total that has strong motivation with PvP. First I want to make the content for them so we don’t want to force all the players and we’re carefully designing this one. But we want to prepare something where you can cheer your powers PvP mania and because of those PvP players working hard, others will be able to fight monsters mainly.
GameWatch - Are you thinking of world vs world battles?
YoshiP - No, I am thinking of PvP Front Line as per world. I want to make a ranking system showing world number one. However when the community separation starts, it’s highly possible to to do cross world matching, I think it’s OK for management side to prepare a once a year event to have a cross world PvP event.
GameWatch - However preparing PvP for 15% of the user seems bit dynamic but is this because you like PvP personally? or are there other reasons behind it?
YoshiP - I believe in a MMORPG it has to be designed with online heirachy, a structure where top players of the community will pull other players, those 15% of the players don’t only play PvP they are top on everything. Therefore to have thoes top players reside in Eorzea I believe this is required. From player populatoin it’s onlly 15% but those 15% can affect a lot and I want to take care of them.
When looking at just FF you probably don’t need PvP but looking at global standard and long term servicing game I believe this system is required. Also PvP doesn’t have any goal, situation is also different. It’s same as a fighting game, there is never a situation occuring twice which is the appeal for PvP. Myself as an developer I want to make/challenge in creating a PvP which is FF like.
I totaly dislike open world PVP ..one of the reason why i bought this game is there no open world PVP. I truly hated farming or doing quest and a high level come and kill you while i am busy doing something. and its a bad idea exemple: You are in fishing mode you cant cancel directly the guy come and kill you and i know there a lot of people have fun doing that and there a lot of people who like to be high level and wait at entrance to kill people so we will head out of town and people will wait at teleport or out of town and kill us on sight? Sorry but Lineage 2 is another game we are in Final Fantasy 14 now ..if you love lineage go back playing it .... i like the Idea of arena or battle siege organised between company but to have everyday worry to have a PK coming at you. No way! Final fantasy is so fun cos of that reason we can farm,hunt in peace. If you want to pk go play a free MMORPG with PVP
That's why just make an option for players to flag themselves for PvP. Geez, it's not hard. And it doesn't effect anyone that doesnt want to participate.

Why bother making a whole new zone when they could just allow consentual PvP flagging? Waste of resources much? It works well enough in Blade and Soul. Get with the times SE.
I dont think se would make it so that the second you cross over an invisible line you are automatically pvping. You never know but se usually have us talk to npc or something to join up for things. Plus what if folks just wanna watch :o
I for one can't wait for pvp. I loved l2 pvp and the hero system was fun. :o would be cool if they give us something like that!

I'd like to see some form of capture-the-flag implemented.
Not everyone likes capture-the-flag PvP game-modes, but they remain a form of PvP that's objective-based, easy to implement, easy for new players to understand, balanced for both sides, and have also been proven to be both fun and immensely popular across many different games and genres. SE can come up with more lofty and ambitious PvP-scenarios later if they desire, but they should implement capture-the-flag first so that players still have access to a tried, tested, true, and fun form of PvP should their new PvP-scenarios turn out to be not fun or unpopular.

Or. You could let them attack other players, and rename all proven RMT as "Bandits" or "Slavers" and have it so players have to hunt them down and make it actually game related?

I really don't like the idea of PvP in Final Fantasy, but I would really love to see some of the mini-games in the series back here (Card games in FF8/FF9, Blitzball....etc. I'm sure I forgot many).
Not a bad idea. but it depends on how teams/factions are selected. I generally play with a few friends, and I'm sure a lot of people do the same. but we're part of different companies.
a lot of other games have you picking a faction from the start (Horde vs. alliance. etc.) but FFXIV looks like you will pick your faction later. while this doesn't pose a problem per se, those of us playing now should be given the option to switch for free, without penalty (and by that i mean no loss of seals/gear/rank). we chose our original GC based on information at the time. that information has not changed dramatically and we shouldn't be 'punished' for original decision because the mechanics are changing.
from the concept art, this looks like it may actually happen. I hope it does. Like i mentioned previously it will be important on how it is implemented and how sides are determined. right now most servers are heavy with immortal flames. to help alleviate this, and prevent total domination by one faction, I think NPCs should be included, and have scalable strength based on the strength of your faction. IE: if you have a lot of PCs the NPCs should be considerably weaker. this also allows matches to start and not have completely balanced teams in terms of numbers. IE: you can have a 2v5 and it will still be fairly balanced. The rewards, of course, should also scale. if there are 5k available seals to distribute upon a win, the 5 could get 1k each. but i don't think the 2 should get 2.5k each. gives an unfair farming advantage to smaller factions. (or maybe they should get more, to promote people joining a smaller faction)
Another thing i'd like to see is mounted combat in large scale pvp. We have our own chocobo, being able to breed them to be battle mounts would be fantastic.
would need pvp and non-pvp servers then. we'd also need the option of being able to transfer our mains over for free. again we picked servers based on certain information. things have changed so we should be able to change our minds.
The free companies is where i honestly think PvP will spring. players will be able to join any free company regardless of their GC choice. IE: I'll be able to PvP on the same side as my buddies even t hough we are from different GC.
earning rewards for your GC would also be nice. I'd love to see us be able to have a free company hall, and be able to add neat vanity furniture to it based on our success in PvP. maybe also allow a slight buff to be given to the free company based on the furniture you have. (IE: total of 15 pieces with a 1% increase in seals acquired. with the total set you can get a 15% increase in the seals you earn) but i'd be against adding buffs like damage+ or defense+ to these sets to prevent snow balling of certain free companies.
PvP in the colosseum only I hope. Many modes and "wage-fights". 200k for a win of a free for all contest! Losers forfeit their gear or w/e they're wearing(lol!) The winner chooses 1~3 items/equipment from the treasure pool + the prize gil ;)
