Storyline emotes, event emotes, in-game emotes, store-bought emotes, etc. You can buy them and unlock them, but they won't show when you try to use them. Emotes aren't required to be seen to be used in the story, but will cutscenes feel less impactful? Is your character still functional and can progress with the main story scenario as long as you use the emote even if it doesn't show when you use it? Absolutely. Does it make you feel like you're worth less and not as valuable as other players whenever new gear and hairstyles come out during events and out-of-game events offer a hairstyle reward for all players to participate in, but you can't use it because of the race you chose even if you can participate in the event? That's basically how Hrothgars and Viera feel with the glamour headpieces and hairstyles. The Valentione 2021 event that gave the Moogle Cap really got the message across to me when they mentioned it in the storyline - it was bittersweet and the lady didn't have any reward to give us, but the WoL is thankful anyway for their support and helping them find their way.
