Realistically speaking, I think they intended to get the two races fully done by SHB release for playability, hence why they showed them off early. But when they became more aware that they weren't going to make that deadline, they ultimately decided that releasing them half-finished would be less backlash than going:

"Oh, those two new races we've been teasing at two fanfests? Sowwies, they won't be available to play in 5.0, though you will see tons of NPCs as them. Plz wait till 6.0! teehee."

because you know how well that would have gone over when you still have people on this very forum that still hold grudges about early promises Yoshi-P made that later became unfeasible for development (Housing). They took the lesser of two evils, pr wise. Take a look at the outcry after they announced the Ultimate delay, something that is far more niche, and realize how many more magnified times the anger/frustration/dissapointment would be for a very highly desired playable race. Not releasing anything after that much teaseing would have actually been shooting themselves in the foot, a total PR nightmare.

I don't know why you're trying to explain this to me when I already stated that I don't want or think hairstyles should be high priority. I literally said this in a response to you.

I just want something to hang to. A small announcement. A teaser. Concept art. A hint. I just want SE to let us know we're not forgotten. Asking for this after almost TWO YEARS isn't too much to ask.

So please stop talking to me as if I want things right now. I never once demanded SE fix things immediately.

It's not a problem of whether hairstyles and headpieces are a high priority in the list or not, the problem is that people feel it's being treated as if it's like egi glamour - promised but undelivered for years. Imagine if Hyur had hairstyles and headpieces, but lost the ability to use any and all emotes. Then there will be new emotes introduced periodically, but Hyur will never be able to use them. Storyline emotes, event emotes, in-game emotes, store-bought emotes, etc. You can buy them and unlock them, but they won't show when you try to use them. Emotes aren't required to be seen to be used in the story, but will cutscenes feel less impactful? Is your character still functional and can progress with the main story scenario as long as you use the emote even if it doesn't show when you use it? Absolutely. Does it make you feel like you're worth less and not as valuable as other players whenever new gear and hairstyles come out during events and out-of-game events offer a hairstyle reward for all players to participate in, but you can't use it because of the race you chose even if you can participate in the event? That's basically how Hrothgars and Viera feel with the glamour headpieces and hairstyles. The Valentione 2021 event that gave the Moogle Cap really got the message across to me when they mentioned it in the storyline - it was bittersweet and the lady didn't have any reward to give us, but the WoL is thankful anyway for their support and helping them find their way.

According to FF14 database there are currently 2052 head pieces in game (in which 4104 pieces) and this number is still increasing), it is a really demanding effort for a small portion of player base.

You seem to be greatly misunderstanding something here. All Hrothgar and Viera are suffering from this problem. It's not as if it's a small portion of each race are having this issue, which can justify only a portion of people playing Hrothgar or Viera would complain in the forums, but the entire 2 races itself have this issue. Even if people are not vocal about the issue on the forums, it's still a very noticeable issue that all Hrothgar and Viera will feel when playing their character and trying to customize it. For some players who don't care about character customization as much, they may not mind it, but it is still a problem that affects -all- Hrothgar and Viera as a whole. This problem isolates a portion of the player base entirely when choosing to play this race who do care about hairstyle / headpiece customization. A large reason why people decided to not play as Hrothgar or Viera is exactly due to the headpiece /hairstyle limitations with the race, which led to people deciding to fantasia out of it - thus the smaller following. Most people who do stick around for these two races either found a way to circumvent the issue (mods, not applicable to all players), don't really care about glamour customization, or gotten used to it (my reason why I stay with Hrothgar even though I hate the hunchback, and idle posing doesn't fix that issue entirely because I still want to play a beast race). Don't misunderstand, I wholly love the race and am very glad that SE chose to implement them rather than not have them regardless of its flaws, BUT the flaws are still there. Just because people don't complain about them as vocally, doesn't mean the people who are content with what they have don't feel them.

It's just how SE operates- they don't care about the playerbase wanting viera/ hrothgar hairstyles since it's making them money from all of the frustrated people using fantasia's

Actually, yes, considering he was using it to address things being asked, multiple questions popped in it other than Viera stuff that was at least acknowledged to some level, I know 5 seconds would have ran them over their time limit, wait it did anyway by like a half hour because of said responding to questions. But the idea of simply trying to brush this off is getting a bit old. Also considering that 6.0 is bringing in lots of things, one of which nobody seems to be talking about still that I am aware of....data center travelling.... meanwhile tons of other QoL stuff is brought up multiple times a week in these forums.

Honestly again, I am not switching back to any other race, it is what it is, and ive accepted the idea we might never see anything, but I think we deserve acknowledgement of this very clear issue.

In my fc alone there are six people who tried the two new races and eventually used a fantasia to change back to a pre-ShB race purely because of the lack of head options. They knew the limitations when they tried the races but found themselves unable to deal with having such little choice in hair and hats. Those who played hrothgar changed back faster than those who played viera. There are others outside those six who have remained as those two races but all of them have complained about the lack of hairstyles.

I adore my viera. I loved my miqo but the animations of viera suit who I think my character is far more than viera ever did. However my character feels incomplete because I cannot give her hair that I feel suits her. The hairstyle I chose is very nice, but it is nothing like the hair I would have chosen for her had I access to non-racial hair. And the hair that I want has been in the game for years at this point.

I knew that by choosing an unfinished race during a global pandemic would land me in a situation with very little new additions to my race. However I did not know that the pandemic would seemly have no affect on the pre-ShB races, while two other races get literally zero.

The pandemic isn't preventing SE from giving the other races SO MUCH. The pandemic didn't force SE to make the only slot of clothing two races can't use be one of two rewards for an event. The pandemic also does not prevent SE making some sort of statement about viera and hrothgar. The pandemic is not an excuse for their deliberate silence.

If SE has time to tweet memes, they have time to tweet that viera and hrothgar are not forgotten. Even a statement as vague as that would give me enough hope to be able to wait even longer. If nothing is said in May then I will take that as a confirmation that SE have no intention of addressing viera and hrothgar.

The French forums are pretty dead tbh. I use the english ones because it is clearly more active (and more entertaining to read).

That being said, I gotta say I'm disappointed that SE didn't change anything for Viera and Hrothgar since the beginning. Didn't they mention that they would add hairstyles later on ? I'm pretty sure they said that, but still, nothing.

There are reasons why the community is angry at this, and it's understandable after so long.

(I'm also pretty bummed that Alphinaud's outfit is a one piece thing. Those boots would have been gorgeous with other glamours. Heavensward Y'shtola's was a two pieces at least, with the boots.)

I'd like to talk about the fact that you can't glamour anything else with this set.
I wanted to buy it since i really like the chest part but noticing you either glamour the whole set or nothing, I'm not interested anymore.

Just gonna chuck my two cents in:

Agree it's messed up but they're also a company and aren't going to really address it outside of planned mentions unless enough people make enough noise about it/enough people boycott the Mogstation or subs in general over it.

A mobile game I play tried to screw players over by giving us less rewards for more $ compared to their other server around a year ago (I'm not saying where it was based because it's irrelevant ultimately). This pissed enough whales off to literally boycott the event and purchasing premium currency in general. It tanked their profits so hard that they fixed the event and have been treating us MUCH kinder since then.

All I'm saying is, the forums seem like a great place to air out your issues but at the same time, unless these threads get to 100s of pages, it doesn't seem like much comes out of it. If ya'll really want to force them to talk about Viera & Hroth, ALL of the people who want them to be treated better need to band together and:

- Get a mega thread going (If it exists already then revive it and get bumps going every so often to keep it at the top)

- Boycott your subs, Mogstation purchases, etc. until it is addressed. I know this seems extreme but the quickest way to get someone's attention is to make their profits slip.

- Reach out to online reporters (probably small to start) and get that snowball effect of games journalists picking up the story going. Remember when the news of 5000 bots getting banned recently made it onto a ton of gaming news sites because the sites were all basically copying each other? That's the snowball I mean.

I think it can be said that the recent threads I've seen posted about this havent accomplished much. So instead of begging to the void for new stuff for Viera and Hroth, probably time to step up your attempts if you're desperate for them to be fixed.
