I really haven't seen much of it I'm afraid.. I can't really recall any bad experiences in any instanced content. It's silent most often aside from the hello's, salut's and lali-ho's.

...I'm vaguely reminded of another poster who made inflammatory threads then deleted all their posts and edited the OP because he wasn't getting the echo chamber he wanted...
Just a feeling
But it is a *great* community.
By the way, why delete your posts?
There was discussion and that involves disagreement. Thesis and antithesis, that's how these things work out.
In this world you pick your friends. If there are people you dislike you're not forced to engage with them. I walked that road, and it only leads to misery. You need to stop looking towards places that make you feel the wrong way. Community here or there, we're all different and what many don't admit is we judge people based on everything, it's how life works. Live and let live.
It's been around for a while, sure - but there was at least an attempt to be subtle about it in the past. More recently, it's become something a lot of players use as a badge of honour and seek to actively get others to partake of.
Given that some of the people they're approaching aren't even of legal age, I fear it's only a matter of time before the game gets some pretty bad publicity as a result.
I've always favoured the 'out of sight, out of mind' policy, personally.
Alas, I've had to resort to keeping my house locked to the public due to people, uh, trying to make use of it.
Everyone knows that respectable hardcore raiders would put those that indulge in illegal RP in check. With no new ultimates coming till 6.0, the hardcore raiders have unsubbed from the game. Now illegal RPers are running rampant. How could you not understand this from MPK's post?
You are funny. RPers aren't illegal. People who RP always RP. Hardcore raiders don't keep RPers in check (whatever that even means). But from what MPK wrote, totally sounds like those who are bored with no new Ultimate right now are partaking a little bit more in ERP. I found it amusing.
Fortunately my house is bare necessities on the inside because I don't feel like decorating only to move to Ishgard so I don't have that issue.
I do miss the out of sight out of mind of the 2.x and 3.x days, it certainly is a lot more in your face with all the brothel adverts and party finder adverts. I find it a bit odd tbh, tho since I don't rp at all and tend to avoid places other than my own house I avoid most of it.
Think it's more hindsight than what you're giving it credit for. I personally remember being on Balmung 7 years ago and seeing RPers with tinyurls in their comment that lead to RP kink lists. As others have said it's always been there, it's just seemingly more pervasive due to it hitting social media.
i’m literally begging twitter pearl clutchers to to stay in blue echo chamber hell
Let us purge this RP plight from our game. This is were we need section 3.3 to educate us on the steps we can take to protect our community from trending towards a downward spiral into the abyss.
Praise section 3.3 as they are answer.
It has always been this way, really. It's just unfortunate that psychologically speaking those who have negative experiences are more likely to remember those, and thus in the grand scheme of things will more likely distort the reality of the situation, which in this case is that there's a false belief the community is declining or deteriorating when it has always been present in equal amounts. With respect to the forums, just comes in waves. A negative experience with a player will be remembered much more than a positive experience with several players
Nobody takes you seriously anymore. God help us if you aren't a troll.
No, WoW is a pretty known troll. His screenname was chosen specifically so he could go "yo wtf why are they talking about me" whenever World of Warcraft is mentioned, and he usually makes some pretty batty posts.
You just kinda have to keep up with the troll metagame on this forum. Granted there are a lot of people who you would think are trolling, but aren't. WoW just so happens to be a legit shitpost sockpuppet, though.
I agree with this. I see far less toxicity than what the forums gives one to believe. Furthermore, I see less open toxicity than when I first began in the ARR era.
Hell, I had a tank actually apologize to me this past week when they did a wall to wall pull without checking if I could keep up with the healing on a synched 50 dungeon first.
As far as ERP, it's been in every MMO I've played in and we are talking even back when "the web" was just Compuserve and America Online to most people. Just set your boundaries and move on.
I've looked over the thread and saw no spam. Perhaps you meant the handful of trolling posts or the fact that the forum was disagreeing with you.
Oh well. I'm certain the topic will be brought up again.
The sky is not falling. The community is fine.
Everyone calm down.
Let me guess the OP got a taste of the communities ugly side? By the responeses also going to say they were not aware of how long the ugly side has been around.
eh, I still stand by it's nothing very special in terms of MMO communities. WoW's community can be great at times, terrible at other times. XIV's community can be great at times, terrible at other times. Aion's community was terrible at times, and great at other times. So on and so forth.
I can't say it got worse or better; it got better in some ways over time and worse in other ways over time.
Is basically the same as any other MMO community, though, and I think it's important to not develop a weird superiority complex over a game you play.
Aww, I wish I'd seen what was said LOL.
In short form: the community is on a decline, people used to be so helpful, kind and friendly, but now we have degenerates, like those they were in a party with who talked about their favourite hentai.
Basically degeneracy is the reason this community is so bad now. Not the trolls, not elitism, not bots and so on, y'know the usual stuff that impacts the helpfulness and kindness of people, but because too many people fall into degeneracy.
Community has always been like that, since I started (HW). I still remember brothel ads in shout, one of the constants on the server I started on.
