Bring WOWs allied race mechanic to XIV

the old allied races skill was fien and dandy (like 1% better or has this unique skill but with long cooldown), then the new allied races just broke them all, iam talking void elf, their unique trait is that when they cast spell, their casting time wont get delay if they get hit, that is broken as fuck. this basically make almost every spell casting class out there will be void elf because their unique trait has no cooldown and active 24/7

also whats with people always try to bring WOW mechanic to FF14? its the same like backthen when waves of people who quit wow move to FF14, they said they quit wow because they dont like it anymore, then when they play ff14 they complain why it isnt like wow.... errr wat?

Only thing you can hope for is Othardian Roegadyn (basically just new faces and more natural skin tones for Roes) and that's it.

No thanks. Allied races were one of the many reasons I quit WOW.

What a complete was of developer resources

Same to me, i quit wow cause allied races! Pls Noooo! Wow its not best reference of mmo anymore, i wouldnt like see anything from wow in 14.

Activision blizz destroyed wow!

In essence, allied races in WoW allowed Alliance players to play purple blood elves, and Horde players to play Night Elves ... nothing spectacular. FFXIV doesn't have that problem -- you can be any playable race already, with no 'faction' limiting your choices.

Yea when it's put this way it does make it look like the concept of allied races has no place in FF. All players in this game are in the same faction and racials are basically non-existent. There is nothing stopping players from playing the race they want to play, literally nothing. FF doesn't need another version of an existing race to fill a gap anywhere.

Also if SE brought in more races before addressing the abysmal state of head options for viera and hrothgar players would riot. And rightly so. There may be a time for new races in the future, but not for the foreseeable future. Soon we will be coming up on two years since those races were added and not a scrap has been done to solve the head problem.

I will say though it would be cool if in the future SE introduced another bestial race but has a completely different build to hrothgar. Something smaller and much leaner. But I'm not expecting this to happen. Just a daydream.

Races behind reputation grinds? no thanks

If they were going to devote the resources to develop new races I doubt they would want to limit their access, other than owning the expansion.

Allied races were basically additional character customization sold as a major expansion feature and it annoys me to no end even now.

I don't think they can just give those features to the existing clans. Not without overhauling the character creator, at any rate.

It possibly actually is easier for them to add "new races" that are just another two clans of an existing race than it is to add things to the existing races.

Getting clan recolors would be nice, but from a senseless reputation grind? Absolutely not.

WoW has worse character customization than most cell phone games. Allied races are a crappy thing put in to force people to keep playing. Nobody plays wow because they enjoy it.

I’m going to say a big thank you, next to allied race anything in XIV. I’d rather the races we have see some changes done to them to make them better instead.

Those rep grinds were obnoxious for reskins of existing races (except for vulpera, that was a GOOD reskin. All the other ones were obvious reskins).

Zandalari Trolls and Dark Iron Dwarves were worth the effort as well, in my opinion. I might have felt a little differently about the Legion ARs though if I hadn't been finished with the rep grinding months before they released. lol Even so, they weren't particularly fun to unlock. They just took a long time, which was the entire point. The dev team wanted it to take as long as humanly possible.

Never ever lock races behind rep will be fun, it killed us of boredom. I mean, if all these new implementations of wow be any good, players would never quit it to come to 14.

To be fair, it wasn't ARs that drove me away. It was the mindset of the dev team and their many other design decisions.

The true blizz dev team, the best of best are working in riot. They confirmed a mmo of LOL, and went it launch will be a blast!

Activision today is like "captain, the players of PC are leaving the game massively, what's should we do?"
