the bots are already in line- you can thank SE for not punishing them
That's a no from me.
I did it for the title and nothing more. No special access. No extra perks. Just a title. It's enough for me.
Nothing wrong with people who put in effort being rewarded, but one issue here is you can't suddenly attach a desirable reward after the final ranking season has ended and you lost your chance. The advertised prize for achieving a top 12 rank was a title, many people decided whether or not it was worth their time based on what was offered. It would be entirely unfair to turn around and trick them by changing the prize to something different after they decided not to participate.
Oof, this is one of those things that teachers tell you in school.
"There aren't stupid questions . . . "
So we should ask players to not only risk health for that housing timer, but we now are gonna clear those filthy trash casual non omni crafters away so that only certain high class people can obtain.
Remember non crafters/casuals to work hard and maybe you'll get it, too.

If SE had actually been proactive with bots, or at least took action against them (stripping titles and rewards) then I would say sure! You guys built the damn thing, you should have first dibs.
However, we don't play a fair game, and bots already ruin the housing market. Issa no from me.
What about those that did a !@#%-ton in the first phase which was not tracked? What about those who carried on after the rankings? Those with the saint title ARE NOT the only ones who built it.
It's kinda hard for me to say "I'm not into this idea," when I also don't like the idea of people doing so much to help with the restoration and some of them won't be lucky and won't be getting a house in Ishgard... but I'm not into this idea.
While the notion is kind, no one was promised a house. Suddenly adding this is misguided. If SQEX had led with this as part of the initial concept I might feel differently, but I'm not sure this is an appropriate move at this stage.
I got Saint Title the first round. I don't want this. Heck, I don't even want to move to Ishgard from my mansion on the hill in Mist. I just want access to their building designs. :P
No, and I'm saying that as one of the people who got the title. Beside that your math is WAAAAY off... 11 jobs including Gathers who also received the title, and within each job 12 people ranked across three different seasons.
11 x 12 x 3 = 396 people per server with the Saint title, maybe a few less if past winners chose to compete in further seasons. That would basically remove every single Large and Medium plot from the pool on each server and even some of the smalls.
I'm not trying to make a case for the OP's idea, but don't twist facts here. Expert crafts took significantly more time than the highest ranked normal craft, which with the right macro takes maybe 40-50 seconds per craft. An expert on average (pending procs and you're not forcing the craft through macro) took 2-5 minutes. Script rewards or even the kupo scratch tickets are earned much quicker than those doing expert crafts and even then we were subjected to the same RNG as everyone else (as far as kupo tickets) and I have yet to see a single Casual Attire for myself.
I think it should be dibs to anyone who contributed to the restoration.
Getting Saint on some servers required hours of work, preparation, and for crafters melding/food/pots/delineations and gil. Getting Saint was grueling and I know a lot of players that would not have had a chance even if they were willing and met the in-game requirements just because of time.
But contributing to the build? That just takes getting ONE crafter/gatherer to level 10, getting to HW in the game and doing some gathering or crafting. Not hard at all.
Especially if you count FATE participation.
I still remember the image of the multiboxer who had 4(maybe 5) characters with saint title on the same DoH so I am going to say no.
During 5.31's section there was so much requirement, and after ranking's there were so few people pushing it, that autofill was activating repeatedly basically everywhere. It was to the point where players were quickly discovering exactly when it would auto jump, how much, and figure out well in advance when the fates would be from that (and be right).
Crafters were not at all required to finish it, as it turns out.
the ranking was so easy the only hard part is willing to spend 5 hrs a day to craft, doing that only for 10 days isn't hard at all.
also sad people just assume the title = bot user when there are many legit saint's crafters
i streamed 2 hours of my method and even shared it to my fc just to show them it's not rocket science to do expert crafting
edit: also forgot to note i a triple season saint title holder.
what about the folks that worked hard but didnt get the title?
No thank you. I'm sorry that you're salty about housing, and made it into the highest score list during the events, but that doesn't mean you're more deserved than the rest of us.
So when does Ultimate/Savage raiders gets first full dibs on Extreme mounts?
I look forward to the housing zones opening not for the housing, but for the beautiful juicy drama. No matter what Square does people are going to be mad if they don’t get a plot.
Considering Squares Anti Botting team is like 3 people in Japan "working from home" and not paying a remotest attention to the NA servers bot infestation. That's a no from me.
Seriously Square, can you guys increase your anti-cheating team by like 1,000% and hire an NA branch of it? So my 100 reports of the same RMT trader can finally get removed and banned in less than 6 months it takes now?
Saint here, I'll just relocate instead of upgrading. That's going to be my dibs.
It seems like whatever people do someone is going to think they're a bot. I don't think bot witch hunts are at all productive but I think it's more likely that people who helped with Ishgard didn't bot. I hear more people talk about bots when it comes to buying a house and in that case it makes sense.
I think it would be nice if they reconsidered the current system and used something more like social housing. Where people can pre-register and then are semi-randomly selected with weighting in favor of certain things like how long someone has registered and not gotten a house or if they already live somewhere. I don't know but something better than who is the fastest when it opens up. Pretty much never going to happen.
It would be nice if they made a way for people with houses to like rent out a floor of their house to someone else. Then that person could have all the permissions for just that floor and pay rent to the house owner. I don't know. Pretty much never going to happen.
Limiting it to saints doesn't seem so great like we all have friends and free companies and maybe they helped in indirect ways. I feel like people who say that it's about the title also miss the point that it was about the community and trying to do your best. Some already had a title or don't use it, and nobody needed to be in the firmament to help, a lot of saints only came to the firmament when they were turning in a lot of items. Others were there without working on the competition so the community is definitely important I think.
If people paid attention then there are a lot of quirks I think to the firmament that don't really suit a housing district. Even just the hospital area which can't be turned into a house so what purpose would it have? And where will Ehll Tou go?
They said something along the lines that the housing district might not be exactly like the firmament and I think that's something we'll find out later. Please look forward to it.
#1 Lamia Miner in 1st ranking period.
People participated in the rankings knowing what the rewards were. This is why titles remained the same for all Saints. It wouldn't be fair to those that didn't participate.
There's also a housing shortage in XIV. There are fewer Saints per world than there would be houses in Ishgard.
Imagine SEVEN WARDS completely empty, just because they're arbitrarily reserved for Saints. If we don't want to reserve literally 1/3 of Ishgard to Saints, then what's the point of this suggestion, since Saints still have to rush for their housing?
I would be very upset to see such a "bold" decision.
New housing is exempt from the random timer, unless you mean you intend to relocate to a larger plot outside of Isghard.
396 Saints per world, there were only three ranking periods. Housing zones have 24 wards consisting of 60 plots each (including subdivision). Rounding up, that's 7 wards to be reserved.
No timer but there may be a personal purchase moratorium. Someone who wants a personal house in Ishgard is going to have a much better chance of getting a good plot if they already have a house and relocate. Otherwise, it's going to just be less desirable smalls available for purchase by the time the moratorium is lifted.
I don't believe it did initially. They opened it up like any other ward. SE got quite a talking to from the player base afterwards, forcing Yoshi P to make a lengthy apology. I THINK it was after that they started releasing it to FC/Relocators only for a certain period of time, because the initial release of Shirogane was an absolute crapfest. All housing wards have followed the FC/Relocators first policy since.
