I may be wrong but I think there’s issues with necromancy in certain countries, particularly Asian ones and China especially.
Western companies tend to do it and censor things for the East but as SE is Japanese it’s probably slightly different.
I’m sure they can do it, but it’s like why draw negative attention when you have other choices.
Iffffffffff we can take the image at face value, so it's dark related, reaper stuff, then I doubt it be straight up necro but I see no reason it couldn't be inspired by that stuff.
Another thought is the shirt relates to templar, like spiderman shirt referenced to samurai.
Maybe it's a necro meets rune knight, templar thing..
Personally hope that dark imagery is important, maybe even the text vibes. Since that would be cool, to me. Lol. Although rune fencer mystic knight like job doesn't sound bad, just really hoping for a dark job XD.
The sage weapon looked neat. I will certainly give it a try.
I've yet to see anyone provide any source on this. And the only thing people did source that related to this did not say what you said.
It said the CITY would not house a thieves guild because it didn't make sense a city would do that. Which is true. But FF has had many thieves in its history, as main character heroes.
It seems less likely he actually said that and more likely this was accidentally produced story from the original info that is a decade old but doesn't say what is claimed.
I meannnnnnnnnnn zenos looks like he's got a scythe and the one person we''ve seen with a scythe was able to "transform" so like temper expectations but like maybe? They could fuse the concept they used with ranjit and have it also use mystic knight elements as well. Sage reminds me of psychic with the weapons so like maybe? it possible and its one idea i'd be down with.
People always expected DRK to be a dps, so I could see them revisiting the concept with a job in maiming gear wielding a scythe. Not entirely sure what they'd call it, though.
If it turns out to be a dark-themed job, without actually being a Necromancer, the first thing I think of are the Reavers from Dark Age of Camelot. If something like a Reaver were to accustom to the FFXIV universe, I could see them wielding scythes and spinning dark magicks to curse/do otherwise sadistic things to enemies.

Makes total sense. I suppose a melee job could still use MP as a resource making Necromancer viable, I just think people might assume that such a job would spend most of its time casting spells. I don't think this has to be the case at all. A scythe alone could leave the door open for all kinds of speculation, but given the reaper/Death theme, Necro's being known scythe wielders, and a recent callback to Edda with the new emote; it makes it really difficult to think of anything else.
I got it!
Post-70 BLU is going to be retooled to be a melee DPS, because that's what it usually is.
Yoshi-P's shirts depict Grim Reapers. Reapers are charged with going around and COLLECTING souls, in a similar fashion that BLUs go around COLLECTING souls of their foes to learn/use their spells.
FYI, I'm not serious and I'm only joking.
I imagine some kind of exorcist for the new mele tbh. A job that hunts everything "not natural", like necromancers and other things. I don't think it will use necromancy but they could use any other montruosity (just a demon for example) scealed inside them, their weapon or the job stone. If some of you know wakfu, it's like the guardians of the shushus. When theese guys use the power of the demon, their body transforms. I don't see a full transformation like ranjit happening, but more something close to nero's arm, summoner's Dreadwyrm Trance, or the demon will be just a pet like automaton queen/Living Shadow or a mix of all of that lol
We don't see the blade tho (or it's really small lol), unless the blade is the monster/demon that an exorcist could control :p
Sage looks really cool and unique, but I'm not sold yet. The trailer showcased more DPS spells then heals, and of all the things Alphinau could do in the trailer it showed up lighting up the mob then going to help Alisaie, maybe the devs are gonna embrace the green DPS like they should've when 5.0 lauched?
Also, I'm glad nocturnal sect is gone, as it was useless compared to diurnal, although, that's particularly because the regens are just so powerful on dinural, it has me a bit worried as to how Sages shield heals is gonna compare to 5.X nocturnal, I'm hoping to god its better. Hell, when I play SCH, I find myself seldom using Aldoquoim, and just relying on Sacred Soil, Whispering Dawn, Excog, just because it costs so much mana, mana that can be spent on Broil. Here's hoping they give healers and more unique DPS kit and streamline the heals, green DPS, as every job in this game is a DPS outside of PvP, just not in name.
What is sage actually gonna be though?
I first thought it was a new MCH move being shown considering it was flying guns shooting at that thing, but then it shows alphi so .... is it some sort of mage meets technology hybrid class?
Another melee, we have so many...couldn't they give us a caster...oh well just anothe class I'll level to cap and never bother with it, like the rest of melees.
I like WHM because, to me, it's sooooo easy to play and I'm not a healer main so that's just helpful to feeling like im alright lol. But I do think sage is my favorite in terms of visuals (I don't normally associate with the healer visual, I like dark damage jobs and holy tank jobs). Also I really appreciate they picked a non standard weapon, makes thinking about the relics and stuff really exciting.
Scared of the potential hype I have for the unknown job though. Rymi64 punched me in the hype lol. Ranjit inspired..? Had sytche, transformations... Dark inspired..? STAPH! I do feel the imagery works well for melee spot though, fits a few categories we are not using so it doesn't feel too "we already had that". I imagine for example it might feel like an inverse red mage (has caster elements).
Two entirely brand new job ideas would also be interesting, kudos to them if they do and they both do well.
Also hype for my boy Paladin being the cover job. :3
We don't see it from the front but from the back we can see what would seemingly be the blade and we see the handle
https://imgur.com/gallery/DjRsUNp
Purple being the blade being partially obscured by the seat and green being the handle. Going off the location of the handle it looks like a location you would put it for a scythe
Ran'Jit used a Scythe when fighting us, his dragon familiar turned into one for him. Perhaps we'll get a style that fights like his for the Melee DPS.
Well I'm happy that we are getting a new healer, THE SAGE. Even though I'm not a healer, i cant wait to play Sage, looks very good.
I'm not so happy hearing that we are not getting another caster or ranged dps. We already have 4 melee dps. I would have thought SE would have added a caster or ranged dps to get were there are 4 of each jobs.
I'm still looking forward to finding out about this melee dps though.
Will the abbreviation be SAG?
Haha good riddance Noct sect. You won't be missed. I look forward to trying out Sage.
My guess for the other new job name is Soul Reaper. A scythe weapon type would be badass. It makes sense to have another melee because there are 2/4 dps slots in a party and the classic setup is half melee, half ranged.
In all honesty, I don't think this will have anything to do with necromancer, per se. My guess is they're going with Templar (not sure if it's been mentioned but it's a reasonable guess based on the director of The Filth and the Fury being Julien Temple), as demand for mystic knight was high, and Templar is an iteration of it. The only reason I think it may be a scythe, besides the reaper on the shirt, is it's a popular weapon and if it is Templar, going with a sword would make it sword user #6. Could be something like a glaive or some other modified weapon. Expecting it'll be maiming given the style of Templar. Also, Zenos's trained fighting style, which he has applied to SAM swords, is that of a mystic knight, i.e. drawing aether out of the blades he wields, and I'm half guessing he'll be representing this new dps in the trailer as well. I wonder if this will lead them to potentially rework NIN into striking to simplify gear distribution going forward.
Necromancer can be done in the future, but my firmer expectation is it will be in 7.0 if it's to come at all, as that's when a caster is very likely (along with another ranged dps I reckon). Something with a DOT niche and which benefits from SPS (if they can integrate the two concepts; other MMOs have), so it has an easy time sharing gear melds with BLM, would be cool. Unfortunately it'll be competing with GEO and Time Mage (which could easily be done with a darkness aspect), but we'll see. It almost made it into XI, so I'd like for it to come into XIV, but I'll take a darkness-wielding Time Mage as well.
The healer design is honestly very good. I was expecting CHM/apothecary. I recall someone submitted a design for GEO with floating crystals that the GEO deploys when casting spells, and this does look a lot like that. I'd love for a caster DPS with a floating type weapon like this.
I'm honestly surprised they went with another melee DPS, which is already a bit crowded, before another magic DPS. This will put us at 5 melee, 3 magic, 3 ranged. Unless they put magic and ranged together in one pool when they decide what to make.
I'm personally leaning towards it being Assassin with the some XIV flair added by giving a different weapon from what it had in FFT.
Scythes seem like a probable option since they could utilize the weaponskills from XI that way.
Type-0 has Sice, who uses a scythe as a melee weapon.
Will definitely try Sage when it comes. I think it looks interesting. Hopefully they use many kinds of barriers and not just protective (damage shielding) and healing ones; barriers that boost, impede, damage, or seal (and other possibilities that I forget) could be interesting as well.
Since they redid Sage to be completely unique to ffxiv (it was originally a master class of whm and blm) I think the melee dps will be Magus or Warlock reimagined for XIV. It's been in previous FFs as a upgrade to blm and rdm but we could see SE mold it to a more melee focused caster that uses Enfire, Enthunder, Enblizzard, etc.
I'd pay good Gil for a necromancer who summons undead highlanders with glowy eyes to fight for them. lol How funny would that be. xD
