Gauis seems more inclined towards the main scenario, especially since hes occupying ala mhigo
no, i rather suspect a clash with Nael, probably not an actual victory but an encounter.
I'm curious as to who the other generals are, I mean theres so many of them and they arn't even trying eorzea. Makes me think Eorzea is just small fry in Haedalyn (sp?)
Me thinks the garlean empire is not particularly an evil empire, but has some bad people in it!
Generally, every time you have a powerful, conquering force that's set on overtaking and ruling another country, or even continent of people, they are seen as evil. The Garlean Empire may be such way. Though the thing to remember, a solider is doing what its been ordered to do, though there is a moment for morals and conviction to play a role, ultimately it falls down to why is the soldier even there in the first place - by those who ordered him to be there. The generals are giving orders, but they are also in turn, been given orders from someone (or thing) higher than they. I'd be willing to say that whoever the Emperor is.. is not a nice fella.
I have to say i did not give much thought in that i wonder who is the leader of the Garlean Empire and to make this a awesome storyline i hope we don't find out for a long time. Like FFXI the main evil was in our face and we saw them but in ffxiv i hope they can take a while to show us who the leader and then someday we kill him.
Nael, solo. Gaius proably won't help him seeing as he disagrees with his views about Meteor and had to be convinced to help with it, not to mention it really feels like Nael is doing all without the Empire's consent / orders.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Gaius helped us during the fight in some way, not because he realized the "evil in their ways", but simply because the Empire itself doesn't want to destroy eorzea, they want to conquer it. And, as the Black Wolf himself said, there's no point in ruling the void.
Exdeath would disagree, of course.
It's should be Nael. He's too prominent in all the GC and 7th era quests while Gaius is kinda a side-character. They will probably kill off Nael and we will either fight Gaius later one (continuing the main story) or someone new.
With all the changes to the world and us getting magitek mounts along the way, it could be that after killing Nael and Dalamud dropping uncontrollably there will be a new common enemy. Maybe Dalamud is full of Allag and they're anything but friendly for dropping their moon (or something they sealed up there), idk xP
Imo, i'd love to get my hands on the garlean centurion armor.

My only gripe about that would be everyone running around in it...
On a side note, that helm sure narrows down your field of vision... no wonder the imperials are so blind lol.
I think Baelsar is gonna have a change of heart. The LL scenes show he used to be a good guy, and he still harbors doubt about Garlean plans
My prediction is that Gauis will be a stronghold NM, and Nael will be who we fight in the Legatus Battle.
No one noticed the dead wolf Darnus walks by (and the camera is focused on for a good deal of time) during the nightmare sequence? Foreshadowing.
Honestly, I think it will be Nael Van Darnus. He is the premier Legatus for the 7th Umbral Era content and 1.0 GC missions, so I wouldn't expect him to be around for when 2.0 hits. Meaning we fight, and defeat, him.
To that end, after watching the Nightmare sequence, I am inclined to believe that Gaius Van Baelsar actually HELPS you somehow in this fight. (Or in a cutscene prior to or after).
THEORY TIME:
Gaius is Ultima Weapon
Darnus is Omega Weapon.
I'm still sticking to this possibility.
