Honestly, i didn't knew his name until everyone on the internet were posting about his death. The only thing i knew about him is that he was Black Panther in the Marvel Movies. That's it.

No they're not. An event in one game has been referenced as a legend in another. That does not necessarily mean the world is intended to be the same - let alone make it "official" that all the worlds correspond without any further examples to confirm.
It's a fan theory, and one I believe has been rejected by the devs in the past when asked about it.
I don't believe Boseman has had any connection with Square Enix. When Yugiri's actress died, it was addressed by a open letter if I recall. If she only got a open letter, what makes you think Square would honor someone who not only has no connection to Final Fantasy but to the company what so ever? If anything, if he were to be honored it would be through a easter egg in a Kingdom Hearts game rather than in FFXIV.
Cause they spent ungodly amounts of money marketing it as the first and only black superhero movie, while ignoring that black superhero movies (from both DC and Marvel) kicked off the modern era of superhero movies.Quote:
There's a reason Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon.
Um, while anyone's death is regrettable, I don't think SE should bring tribute to any single person who passes away (>_<)
I for one didn't know that actor either. Not everyone is a fan or watches those movies, so it'd be odd to treat them like something that has affected all FFXIV players and would need a tribute in Eorzea.
He was an actor. There were many actors/actresses who passed this year. Every death is sad but it makes no sense to make a special tribute for him.
Yes please... :(
Did you even fully read my post? You assume I'm saying those other games happened in 14, I did not. I said those game locations are copied into 14 as official locations. ie FF Tactics happens on a few worlds, however, Ivalice is the name of the setting, and that setting is officially in 14. With shared histories, and characters to the original game.
As to the fan theory, all Final Fantasy games are connected, which has been both denied and confirmed in parts. There is only one Gilgamesh is confirmed. Shinra from 7 is related to Shinra from X-2 that kid somehow gets to the world of 7 and builds the company that eventually becomes Shinra Electric. However, they have also stated that each Final Fantasy numbered game has it's own unique world. Now does this mean they are specifically unique cosmologies and worlds or are they all worlds within a cosmology, also their statements on this do not prevent a numbered FF game to happen on the same planet at vastly different times.
Basically, the fan theory has neither been confirmed nor denied, however parts of it has both been confirmed and denied.
yes and no.
Black Panther was the first Major Black Comic Book Hero published by a major comic book publisher. It was also intentionally focused on issues facing Black Americans at a time when it was controversial. So when it was made into a high budget movie, it was the first Major Black Comic Book Hero film.
Blade which is the film which started off the Comic book film rebirth in the late 90s was a side token black character in a defunct horror comic series from the 70s, Blade as a character was not a major character, nor was he in any way aimed at the Black Community when those comics were released. The film was also not a high budget film and surprised everyone with how well it took off.
As for the other successful black comic book films, MIB & Spawn, MIB was an off-brand comic although it had a bit of a cult following. Spawn on the other hand is also an off-brand hero, but was well-liked by everyone. Although Spawn was a well known Black Anti-hero, and sometimes anti-villain, He was never really a comic book superhero. Oddly Agent J in the comic book was a doopy looking white guy, well until the movie took box office. So even though the Actor was Black, he wasn't a Black Character, made for the Black Community. However thanks to good casting choices he became one.
