Good review. Bye.

Well im a mage so i dont even press 1 lol, I run to the tank then wait, when hes low I hit 3, hit enter, and cure him for 700+, then I wait a little more... and a little more, waiting is fun :D
I Also nuke, so I pressed 5 then pressed enter, then waited some more, had a sip of my tea, sometimes, every 5 minutes THINGS GET INSANE, because people want protect/shell/spikes, so unreal now, i press down, and press 1, 2,3. Woah the excitement is killing me, just thinking about it gives me shivers.
This can be applied to every MMORPG out there. Mind you, in every MMORPG out there you can just sit there and do absolutely nothing if you're really so inclined.
Of course you're not being in any way as useful as you could be, you're hurting your group's leveling pace, but if that's ok for you, I'm afraid the problem isn't in the game.
If I hear the word hyperbole one more time I'm going to kill this hostage I have.
I mean. I am going to go walk off my rage.
this still describes every mmo pretty much
1) Spam your strongest attacks in sequence until mob dies
2) If mob attacks a certain spot, dont stand there if it can be helped
3) Continue til it dies or you do.
There really isnt an MMo out there that doesnt follow this format. Even the most so called "complex" boss fights in some games are still the same thing.
Dont stand next to the mob or in the path of its attack on killer moves, otherwise, unload on it.
Yet people somehow complain every time a new game comes out for the same reason....when every other game does the same thing, and they justify it with the same excuse "because they do it, but its not the same" which is basicaly saying, that they cant explain it, but they wanna badmouth it anyway
Give this game some time guys, let it update, let it enhance things, we are all coming to very soon and harsh conclusions of the game already, EVERY MMORPG needs time to get improved. (In some cases it gets worse tho :/)
I could put up with the broken nature of the game if they would fix the UI and controls for mouse & keyboard players.
I quit playing in november, but I really want the game to succeed so I'm active here and I regularly check lodestone. I think when it comes out for ps3 it will be a good mmo, but until then its just garbage. Oh well, I just want to know what these big changes actually are. Yoshi-p says changes to classes, battle, and world are coming but he never says what THEIR idea's are. If I had a broken game I would say I was fixing it too,
LOL! OK FFXIV is great. That's why the majority of people who purchased the game no longer play, and its greatness also explains why Tanaka and other lead figures were booted from the project. It also explains why SE's net worth dropped 25% - and SE is a publisher! What an awesome flippin' game!
Oh and did I mention that the average score (meta-score) of all of the big publishers is 49/100? Yeah, my opinion is waaay off...
Here are some other quotes I found in this thread:
Abigail, how about instead of telling other people how stupid and invalid their reviews are, you write your own review?
You guys fall for Abigail's antics every time. Nice derailing of the thread into a discussion about battle-spam. Fact is, game is still boring. Hyperbole or no hyperbole, battle is boring, and even in NMs you just spam 1 over and over 90% of the time while waiting for cooldown timers/TP.
Hey, guess what? Not everyone who plays the game is a professional game critic writing a review for a magazine or website. Yes, we generally want our professional critics to play entirely through a game (or at least a good chunk of it, in the case of an MMO), before they write up their final reviews, because we want our professional critics to be informed, since the rest of us make purchase decisions based on what they say. But for the ordinary players? They only need to play for as long as the game can keep them entertained, however long that may be.
Besides, FFXIV really isn't any different from 16-50 than it is from 1-15.
FFXI battles were more fun because when you're about to die, you're like, "Oh *!! Everyone 2 hour!!! Oh Dear God RUN!!!... RRRRRUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!
In ffxiv if i die, it's like... meh, bfd...
This is my review in its current state, and it is not that great of a score. But then again if look where I mainly hit the game is in its content. With the content level say ffxi had at NA release, and which this hopefully will before PS3 release, I would probably give the game between a 8.2-8.5. Would be an easy 9 if they redo the heavily copy/pasted terrain and bland parts of the world and make the battle system more engaging.
Honetly I consider this game a beta, and technique it is still only month 3 of this games existance... considering the fact Yoshi-P trashed basically the whole content update Tanaka was working on. So they went back to square 1 when he took over.
My review: Over all game with these criteria (Gameplay 50%, Graphics 30%, Music 10%, Longevity 10%) = 100%
Gameplay is a measure of content and game systems
Graphics is a measure of Design, Texture, Details, and Animations.
Music is composition and Variety
Longevity is the chance that the game will continue based off of the populations view of the game and the companys ability to continue funding.
Total FFXIV Rating based on my rating scale: 7.05/10 Rating C- (below average)
Game Play Overall (100%): 5.6/10 Sub Par ( lack of content issue more then anything)
Group Content (40%): 6/10 - horribly lacking and in my opinion the worst thing about the game in general
Solo Content (30%): 3/10 - Yea the game is near the level of impossible to play solo.
Combat System (20%): 6/10 - Needs a ton of balancing in its current form, but there is much worse out there in the game world.
Crafting/Gathering (10%): 10/10 - Simply no other mmo has the detail and indebtedness as this game does. If you like crafting and gathering then this is your game, if you hate them you will really hate them in this game.
Graphics Overall(100%): 7.8/10 Above Average (World design is lacking, and weaponskill/spells are horribly subpar animations)
World(25%): 6/10 - It has horribly bland spots then and awesome looking in other spots. Over all it lacks the dept and immersion factor but the detail is extremely high in the terrain.
Character and Mob Animations (25%): 10/10 - simply nothing else comes close in the mmo world
Spell and Ws animations (25%): 5/10 - bad, the movements look natural which is good but there is no flash to it. Everything is boring.
Textures and Details(25%): 10/10 - once again nothing comes close
Music Overall (100%) 9/10 Excellent
Composition(80%): 9/10 - the music by itself is a 10/10 it is that great but it does not really give you a feeling like you are in the zone in several spots. Worst spot is probably Thanala great song, does not sound like a wasteland though. So in a way it hurts immersion some.
Variety(20%): 10/10 - over 70 tracks in the OST and they are different in style, feeling, and sounds. More variety and different feelings then almost any other mmo. I feel they captured the FF feel in most the tracks.
Longevity Overall(100%): 7.5/10 Average (one again all a content issue)
Company(50%) 10/10: The game can make 0 profit and could be up and running for a decade with 1 year of SE's profits on a normal year. Very strong financial backing and their flagship brand, very unlikely they will pull the plug anytime soon.
Current Playability (50%) 4/10: The game lacks content, soloing is boring to the point of making you quit, and the community is rebelling against partying... so until more content and balance is added this game is simply not fun to the majority.
I hate to say that i completely agree with Belgian this time around, lol.
Here's my review.
Sound - 10/10 awesome OST.
Review is over.
Belgian, I have mixed feelings on whether or not I like or hate you. You're quite funny at times when you're trolling in Ul'dah... But I also dislike your face. I want to slam your head into a gelatin mold so i can make Halloween masks. The problem is, I'm not sure there is that big a market for Rosanne face molds. (Just kidding, lets have Roegadyn babies.)
I do actually agree with most of what you said about the game, though. There is so much room for improvement, but we all know it will eventually get there. I'd personally rate the game about a 5.5/10 in its current state, but I'm planning to stay because I know it will eventually at least be an 8. When the time comes, and the game is actually good... I want to have all my shit leveled so i can enjoy it. That's my one driving point.
The major point i disagree with you on, though... Is the music. I have it muted full time. I can't stand it lol.
While I disagree with Xatsh's review on certain aspects I'd much prefer that than an immature troll post. You can actually see where the majority of the score came from and it's broken down quite well from point to point.
Solo Content (30%): 6/10 - A crafter can experience the entire plot line by themselves. Guildleves give a heightened amount of experience and their difficulty can be adjusted to fit your schedule, time, and skill level. Gathering classes are pretty much only solo right now. Compared to XI, this game is much more feasible as a solo grind. If you battle though, once your 8 leves are expended your really gonna start to feel the grind if you're a solo player.Quote:
Solo Content (30%): 3/10 - Yea the game is near the level of impossible to play solo.
Composition (80%): 5/10 - There are a lot of songs that really aren't that great... at all. The music for the Market Wards is akin to listening elevator music from the future.... from the 80's. A lot of music is done with a keyboard synthesizer, in some parts it almost ruins the music. The rock tracks that play when you do leves are actually pretty rocking... until the synth comes in. I agree with Xatsh's point "does not really give you a feeling like you are in the zone in several spots." Just replace "zone in several spots" with "setting of Eorzea". Some tracks are utterly beautiful though. Like the solemn piano tracks of Coerthas and the Merchant Wards. "Twilight Over Thanalan" is another great track but it's even better when done by a full orchestra. Same can be said about "Navigator's Glory" A lot of the music in the game has a great foundation, but this is a AAA title from a huge company in the new millennium. The music is a great conceptual skeleton but should have been finished by an orchestra or at the very least, real instruments.Quote:

I can agree with Xatsh's overall assessment and it really belongs in a thread of it's own rather than on the seventh page of a troll thread.
Actually, you're right. I have the music turned all the way down and run soothing music in the background instead.
I knew I shouldn't have posted in the Show Yourself thread. :(Quote:

SE could make this game better before they rushed to release o.O
thats everything i can say.
Lol belgian. You rated it the best graphics in the genre, yet gave it a 7.8/10? strong skewed logic.
Just because it's the least worst in the genre, doesn't mean it is as perfect as it could be at this time, all things considered.
They should have toned down on the polygons, used a different engine altogether or optimized their own a lot more, and improve the lighting technology. That would earn it a 9/10. If they added motion blur... 10/10 for graphics.
Meh, motion blur is overrated in my opinion. I find it distracting and obscures the nice artwork and textures the developers made. It's great for cinematics where no input from the user is required . This is prevalent in FFXIV.
Alot of games I played that applied motion blur affected the HUD or GUI which just made it difficult to use the game.
I'm okay with it to represent high speed like in driving games or occasional movements. But when it it used all the time with every slight twitch of the mouse it become annoying real fast.
Linkurra, I partially agree. In most cases, Motion Blur has not been implemented tastefully. Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2 are the exception.
Hahahaha Belgian, I have to hand it to you this time. That really made me laugh. Great work! Haha.
Your highest rank is 15. . .You most likely spend more time on the forums than you do the game itself. I know you're known for "trolling" but still, you have no position to even start rating the game. Unless you intend to rate it up to the level of 15. If you actually put in some coherent thought in the game, gave it constructive overview of the actuality, then, you might have more room to rate it with any sort of pull.
That aside, the game is low on playability to a third-party perspective, and it does need work, all we can do is wait.
If you really want to put more into this, how about we wait 3-4 years with this newer team who took over the game from a fail squad of lols, and then after that 3-4 years, wait 6 more months, and then rate it.
