You know my Miner is 50, and when I'm not lazy, not even a JP mines faster than me. At other times, yes, there is a slight advantage a JP player has, but it's not quite so game-breaking.

There is no need for handicaps because this isnt a competition in the traditional sense. In other words, there's no need to handicap anyone because we are not racing or competing for an established prize in game. Just wait for it to get fixed, and deal with what you have. I could care less if someone can craft/mine/dungeon faster than I can due to latency advantages or whatever. Its not like there's pvp where those advantages affect your gameplay. They dont affect your gameplay at all, really. Just wait.
There is no PvP because it'd be unfair.
I love people who instantly jump to immature, childish insults; who then in turn accuse people of being trolls.
I was merely listing what I was using setup-wise, and my internet connection saying that I too, experienced the same issue. Trying to imply that the issue does not lie within Internet Connection speed.
Wandering around in my Ipad right now, subscribe to this thread I'll post it when I get back to desktop.
I'll still maintain decent speeds, albeit ping will be raised nicely. But we all know that, or should.
Trying to understand what you are attempting to get at here
Read my above post, im not on pc atm
I can go ahead and tell you im still probably going to cap out over 70up/30-40down with about 165-195ms ping
No.. no.. I'm sorry, I think we are getting lost in translation here.
I was simply trying to imply that it does not matter how great your connection is here in the US, it does not mean it is going to be as good in Tokyo.. (in a sense of ping and response time)
fighting on your side brother
That's some pretty bad ass speed there dude, how ever just a little friendly tip, unless you do a crap load of networking for your job, or get a hell of a deal on your internet speed you are wasting a crap load of money for nothing. I mean right now im paying 15Mbbs and im just gonna assume your paying for 100? and when I connect to SE's server im gonna get the exact same throughput as you.
Is failing, lagging, sucking out loud, or bein rude 24/7 refered to as the NAButton? If not: Petition to start that trend!
I'm NA, too and I'm still in favor of it!
yeah, that easily makes sense...
If each command is a half second faster, then 120 actions would save 1 minute. Lets say it's slightly less for simplicity and go 100 actions per minute. One craft at spam craft (again for simplicity just hitting enter button rather than for exp bonus) might require 10 inputs per 300exp, at least in my experience... 300x300 = 90,000exp, .. and 300 synths with 10 inputs is 3,000 inputs at 1 minute per 100 = 30 minutes faster for the Japanese per level of high level crafting. even in the 30's this would still equate to 20 minutes. 30 minutes x 10 levels = 5 hours + 20 minutes x 10 levels = 3 hoursish = 8 hours per craft levels 30 to 50.
Across all crafts to 50 this would then mean we are spending an extra 60 hours give or take in lag over the japanese.
That does not include gathering and battle classes.
0.4 seconds may not seem like much, but it adds up.
Another poster on these boards made a very good observation last week, saying that if there is no local server set up for players outside japan, this game will never really succeed no matter how good 2.0 is outside of japan. Those tenths of a second crush a game.
I tried that and was getting beaten out. You can't input anything until the server gives you permission to do so.
At the moment you can't queue something waiting to get back to you, it's faded. This works two ways, though, there and back, so you're waiting on more than just the server.
Taei... Unless SE stops being so strict I really don't think there's much that can be done about all this. Everything is so server-side as a cheating countermeasure and very few improvements can be made without making things function client-side.
Available HP/MP/TP to cover action costs, evades/blocks/parries/misses to perform special actions, actions landed and from proper positions to enable combos and void TP costs, lack of ailments that would prevent actions from being performed, animations and their locks being managed by the server after everything checks out, etc. They all add up, and it results in many Japanese being falsely lauded as skilled players. And that's just the combat aspect!
I believe there was mention of regional servers, and if that happens it will help with these latency issues. I sure don't plan on opting into that, though, if it's irreversible. Like I told you earlier, I actually wish to live in Japan someday.
Therefore, since those moderators are always combing over the forums, please note this: If regional servers come out I would like to be able to perform transfers between them at any given time. Thanks! :p
I've been in japan for the last 6 months now.. I really haven't noticed any less lag playing here than when I was in America. I'm pretty sad there's still lag.
If you truly are a CCNA, you shouldn't even need a referral.. jobs come at you.. I'm a Securities/Networking CCNA myself.
On topic though, its interesting hearing of players in Japan experiencing the same issue. If you could post more details that would be great, prreferably your connection type/speed, your ping in ms form, etc
Just seems like bunch of good players, i know because they don't wear full AF unlike...... *cough*
i live in japan and
we have the same problems with lag here
tough it might depend on how straight your ISP is connecting to the servers
or its a router setting problem but i would like to hear about such concrete stuff from
actual network specialists...
my japanese ISP seems to be crap (JCOM)
my NA friends usually know whats in the loot 2sec before it appears in mine...
Played on both JP and EN client for both FFXI and FFXIV. Also have logged onto FFXI from New York, Maryland, California, Taiwan, and Japan. Sorry JP Button doesn't exist. Have logged onto FFXIV from California and Taiwan so far, only things that make a difference on your side are your general internet connection and computer spec. I've also heard my fair share of JP friends complaining about the the game lags when they play in Japan, they pretty much complain about it every night
I am not saying that SE doesn't have anything to improve on when it comes to server/game speed/stability, but this whole "JP button" is just lol.
As far as FFXIV goes, post merge during prime time in Japan, all things go to hell. I've run through the entire first floor of Aurum before the mobs start to spawn or finding the warp portals aren't up when we get there. Also spent upwards to 5 minutes at the loading screen into and out of Aurum. My JP friends joke and say the outside of Ul'dah looks like a refugee camp during prime time, because... well... it does.
Basically. I was exping a few days ago and I'd try to use a skill on a mob and I'd get "You can't use that on a KOed enemy" or whatever. Even though the mob was still alive for me. Or the game telling me I can't cast a spell while I'm moving but I already stopped moving.
What a racist thread...
I can mine as fast as possible and still not beat NA and JP players and the waiting between bites on fishing is just a joke in the EU.
SE should have made Ragnarok regional !!
For those that play from Japan:-
As I have said 100 times, you are confusing server latency with network latency, regardless of the amount of lag you get in Japan you can bet people in the US and EU are having the same lag + network latency to deal with.
