It's not giving me that visceral reaction of horror, like what face #2 Viera gives me. *shudder*

They're really not bad at all. I think most the ARR races could use a little bit of love in terms of their eyes, eyebrows and lips but they shouldn't completely change the shape of the faces because as mentioned in the thread people will get very upset if they're attached to how their character looks.

If anything femElezen deserves the most attention because they really only have 3 faces, 2 are the same just with different shading.

Don't you dare change my midlander faces.

I love midlander females. All of them... they are all beautiful to me. The only reason I'm not this one here fulltime is while I love the run. I can't deal with it myself. I love watching them run though. It's so adorable.

And half the miqo faces have resting b*tch face, same with Viera, while half of the Au Ra faces look like they've been given drugs.

I found it funny people playing miqo'te would dig on middies. I remember checking out cat girl customization and seeing their face options and having to decide which 10 y/o I want to play as. They aren't quite as Barbie doll as Viera are but they are remarkably uncanny.

Two of the lizard girl faces look like they have an allergic reaction to bee stings and just finished a run of Saint Mocianne's Arboretum. I will say I like all the lizard faces, though. Like middies the variety is decent, albeit it sucks you can't divorce horn selection from the face.

Then maybe stop using the ugly face every hyur uses. The old 5th now 1st base face is the best one when you create a character and not many uses it. Just be unique and don't use the most used face if that's your problem but now you've done the same mistake with a miqote too tsk tsk.

The bigger issue is female hyurs stiff idle poses and running, now that should be changed if anything. (add some new voices since most of them sound like seizures with cheer/happy)

It really is weird midlander has a decent amount of face options, but feels like it has the least amount of options. Both male and female. Males need some stubble still as well. A lot of the faces in this game look like they have some sort of birth defect to be fair.

I love middies though I wouldn't deny I wish we had some of the hairstyles or cposes highlanders have, or vice versa when I play highlander. We are kind of the same race but also not the same race.

My issue with middies is the hair issues. Clipping, missing textures on the reverse face(leading to hair that is invisible/floating from certain angles), mismatched textures on certain seams/altered lighting properties that just look plain bad.

I love that hair, if midlander fems didn't run so strangely & had more detailing to the face; it would have been my 1st pick with that hairstyle. I wish there was a variant with bangs, like side split bangs, Rinoa Heartilly style- aside from the typical black and white you see often with many player characters, she is pretty

The faces are subjective, for example the face you use on your Viera I wouldn't use I don't think it's ugly just not my thing you can be unique with faces 1 and 5 that depends on so many things, glam, skin tone, hairstyle, etc it's up to you have you wanna make your character.

I will agree with the idle poses and the running to a degree but this was the first character I made in ff 14 since 2.0 I have Fantasia'd but I always come back to this toon so the running animation doesn't bug me as much since I"m used to it I guess but I do want a proper running animation in the end. As for voices I like a lot of em, personally I use voice 2 to me it's got the best battle voice and the most obnoxious laugh that's become a meme in my FC because spamming it is hilarious.

If we look at Viera though their emotes are lacking, their voices are eh I guess I use 7 and 9 and 5 if I went Viera but they're not consistent for me since I play tank I like to hear battle voices so I guess i'm a weird one but Viera are so reserved when it comes to any personality, again just my opinion. I did jump on the Bun bun train at the start of ShB but after a week or so it just wasn't for me the emotes and lack of hairstyles combined with the voices they didn't get the best treatment for this expansion, maybe if they had more oomph into their emotes and better hairstyles + hat options and better voices I'd race change to them, but sadly it wasn't meant to be.

Elezen heads arent too small, they are visually enlarged by the ears and hairstyles. It would look comical if their ears were sticking out further than their arms.

There is no "normal height for women" in the game where we have few distinct different races.

And if we are at it, miqote has unproportional faces, having the gap between the eyes bigger than it should be with often non existing chin and jaw which makes them look like they are underage. Lost of viera faces for instance suffer from "mouth breathing syndrome" and auras have a resting bitch faces too.
We could argue how certain races arent perfect, but that what makes them different and people with different tastes could find something for themselves. Get rid of those little gimmick and you will see how terrible character creator would be without them and we all would end up looking the same, which would be pretty stupid.
I like elezen proportions for instance, their legs are huge and smexy, someone else could like aura for their diverse and rich skin colours, others like roes for having big bodies, and others like the Viera body figure.

Back to the topic, look OP this is face #4 for midlaner, does she look ugly? :p

Also, semantics is a thing. English is a dumb language. I get that you aren't a native speaker, but you shouldn't assume things if you don't understand the meanings behind them.

I agree with needing more face options for ALL races and while I do get that beauty is subjective, I share the same opinion of OP that I'd only ever use face 5. I really think each of those faces just lack options to further customize them, if you see someone running around with face 1 it mostly doesn't matter what options they choose for that face since the options itself are so similiar to each other. All in all give me more faces, the older races truly lack the upgrade in textures the newer races got. I just find it a bit weird to have such a huge game lack in character customization, while glamour and housing (for example) are really huge and well done for most part.

Do miqo'tes really look underage? I thought midlanders look younger then most miqos I see running around. but I guess I can't talk since I'm a miqo'te :c

I don't think yours does, but some kinda do look more like older teens than adults. Some of the Miqo faces are round cheeked with hardly any chin, small facial features, and if you add big irises on top of that? They look super immature. And even when not immature, then a lot of the options are just far too on the cute side for my taste. It's actually kind of frustrating sometimes trying to make a Miqo that actually looks like a mature adult to me - not to sound dramatic, but trying to go for something more on the beautiful side than the cute side. More gorgeous woman, less pretty girl.

Au Ra have that issue too. A lot of combinations with them end up looking super cutesie and girly. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's not really the look I want. I want my character to be able to pull off both cute and bad-A, and Viera is the only race so far where I've been able to pull that off in quite the way I want to. But we've hardly got any hairstyles compared to most races so here I am as an Au Ra again :P

Perhaps you saw my post earlier in this thread, describing miqo'te faces as a gallery of 10-year-olds. I'll take accountability for this and say I was exaggerating a bit.

If I just had to throw out a guess I'd say they look like 16ish in general terms, yours included. Though like, that's just how some women are: you can have people like me in their 30s and still have people asking what grade I am in. It's a fantasy race with fantasy characteristics making judgment a little iffy, you know?

I am also biased for being into women more butch (highlander or roegadyn) or mature (elezen or midlander), so of course my perspective will be unfair.

I will say that you guys probably have the best female emotes, I would play a roe if they weren’t so bulky

Honestly all the races faces look like teens to me. There's like 2 that don't. Highlander males and Roes. All of the other races are pretty much anime protags in looks. Not throwing shade but we all look pretty young in the world of FFXIV. Unless ofcourse you choose to make highlander and picked the oldest look you can pick. And alot of it boils down to the game's artstyle being anime-like and everyone looking young and pretty. If you want ugly then you'll have to play a western MMORPG like wow or ESO.
