The features are more regarding graphics and cutscenes, not really an engine like Unreal.

A graphics engine is still an engine isn't it? An engine does not have to be all-encompassing. And just because Crystal Tools isn't like the Unreal engine, that doesn't mean it is akin to Cinema 4D either. You can't use one in place of the other.

@Croy: Hey thanks for the info. Its always cool to see what software developers are using. I like to watch the documentaries and squint at the background to see what they are using.

And as far as the new maps go. I am excited for them. I always love the settings where the land just looks broken but all the people are making it work as best they can.

Right now we are in the 7th Astral Era. The 7th Umbral Era is coming, and is supposed to arrive at patch 1.23.

Eras last decades though, not days. I doubt the 7th Umbral Era will be over when 2.0 hits, unless it's prevented from happening altogether. It's entirely likely that we'll be living in the 7th Umbral Era through 2.0 and beyond.

Yoshi said that Eorzea was too happy and peaceful, and he means to change that. What better way to make things less peaceful than having the game take place during an Umbral Era?

I like to think the red death-ball is pure energy and when it strikes the planet it will burst and send a shockwave that magically turns everything fabulous.

Lets just hope SE doesn't make 3 different endings where the ball explodes in red, blue, and green.... ;) lol

Also, we already are getting some changes, and they get more obvious with every patch.
Dalamud is kind of obvious, but has anyone ever noticed the map changes close to Nophica's Well?
The tiny lakes?
Monsters also got bigger (though that was actually due to players complaining, but still xD).
And since 1.21 aetherytes randomly turn red/orange like in the 2.0 concept art as if they are going to start flying away very soon..
I don't doubt the dev team will give us an awesome summer full of radical, creepy changes :D

I've been trying to find any solid confirmation besides a few random people saying "apparently there are red aetherytes." I'm a bit surprised it hasn't widely been known or that any single person has taken a picture of it as the cult and the purple aetherial gates pictures were spread widely. But now there's supposedly red aetherytes and more people playing than before and there's no pics and I haven't been lucky enough to catch it.

There aren't any red aetherytes right now. There's just been a rumour and a fake photoshopped picture that was in circulation.
