to be honest, I'm on 14 for the long haul, same with dcuo, I played mmo's 12 years and really grew bored with the direction most mmos are going now a days, that being said it needs alot more content to make me happy about paying but having to pay wouldnt drive me off either
I bought this game with every intention of paying a monthly fee, I trust SE will keep the game free as long as it still feels like a beta. If the game is up to par and competitive with alternatives, I will definitely pay to play. If they keep it free, expect the game to get even worse (and likely not even make it to ps3).
I was prepared to pay a monthly subscription fee from the day I bought the CE on release day.
Even for the 4 months I couldn't play because my Comp couldn't run it, I would have still payed.
$15 a Month.. I've spent more than that on some Free to Play MMO's
Yeah, I'm here to stay, i knew the state of the game when i bought it. I would have been fine paying from day 1.
@OP
What is the point of this question when it would entirely depend on what the game is like when they start charging? Since the game will be different when they start charging from what it is now, nobody can answer your question.
As for me personally, I'm also in the minority that would be willing to pay now to help fund content and improvement. I find enjoyment in the game, and that's worth the $13 a month.
I would most definitely pay to play.
I will
Not because of what the game is atm but of what it could be.
And SE is working very hard to get it there.
If I were billed today, I would cancel immediately. I think there needs to be a fair amount more actual content before I could justify paying for it. Especially considering what I could get for the same amount from other games. =/
For the sake of brevity: If it's fixed, I'll pay; if its not, I won't. :)
i wouldn't mind paying now! it's fun to watch the game evolve.
People still blackmailing with their accounts.
I bet most of you will pay.
Its the people who don't join forums and discuss every little detail that will not think twice about not paying.
I'd pay $15... Maybe... But, I'll need more content before I say that I will. More quests. MORE QUESTS. Many new quests. I see NPC's that stand around doing nothing.
Im dying for Ishgard, Chocobos, Airships, Companies, New Zones, New Classes as i thought all that would have been included with launch, but no we got a copy of the Open Beta.
That being said, there is content, there is fun to be found and achievements to be had.
There just too much arm flailing about lack of content. Its coming ffs.
Im am looking forward to the day the charge.
Its not a bad game for 50c a day tbh.
I got 6months worth of crysta when I bought the game on release so I guess I'll play atleast that much after they start charging for it.
Of course once that is over if its still worth playing I'll stick around, but I have to admit that there are very promising MMOs on the way and this game needs to rise up to the challenge.
chiz yeah, I would pay now.
I am a very low income, very high expense person right now, but I can easily find and justify a whopping $15 a month for a game I enjoy, and to be part of a somewhat interesting community. That's less than the minimum gamefly monthly fee.
It is polished enough now to enjoy, it's functional, and it's not like we crash every twelve minutes, or run into endless seas or through mountains all the time. Low content isn't really a big hit. And not to sound like a kindergarten teacher, but people just need to be creative and use their imaginations more lol make your own fun, I do all the time. It's just a playground, game doesn't always need to lead you by the hand through fun and engaging activities
/end rainbows
Ill pay if there is content. Oh wait, they will have content because thats when they launch PS3....their first expansion pack. thhhbbbbttt!
o.o why do you guys go on saying 15$? when it's 12.99 which is 4cent more then FFXI. Did you really think ffxiv would be 14.99$ like every other mmo? or are you in EU or something?
Me. (need to put 10 or more character to post)
Exactly and most(including me) don't see this game complete until about a year. Unless they just speed things up and patches get thrown at us in HUGE bulk. That won't happen though according to Yoshi-P. Even the major stuff will be released bit by bit.
They did similar things back in JP FFXI release. Only thing is the rest of the world can experience it first hand this time around. Also, it would be better for business if they come up with an expansion with Ps3 release to lure people besides throwing the same trailers around. If not what will they say? Eorzea sucked a year ago but hey check it out now!
I'll definitely be playing. I knew getting into FFXIV that it could take a year or more from launch to tighten up the game. Same thing happened with FFXI. Was out in Japan for a year before we saw it in the US and it was still a mess. 9 yrs later and it's an enjoyable game. I'm patient. :)
I took advantage of an exchange opportunity close to launch and bought a bunch of Crysta. As a result, I've essentially prepaid for a year of the game. When the game turns over to subscription, if I'm not fully convinced it's ready, I will stagger my payments. Pay for a month, try it out, cancel if I'm not satisfied and come back in a couple months and do it again.
If the money is still on my account in a year's time, I'll just put it toward some Square-Enix merch.
i stopped playing in December because i am very busy with work and some other things, but i log in sometimes to see what's new. I will follow the progress and keep playing (as i already have purchased some crysta)
let's see... as long as i can have fun there is no reason to quit
