What have you never attempted and probably wont ever?

Ultimates for a simple Reason: To many people on my Datacenter just buy the kills, thus making the title worthless. Whats the point of having something everyone has? Its quite fun though to tease such people in Discord, asking them about mechanics and them trying to change the subject asap or simply not answering.

Archer/Bard. Thought it would be cool until I did that DPS rolequest in ShB and all of a sudden, this seemed like a very boring class. Coming from a guy who plays Sam/Mnk/Whm.

I think I tried everything at least - some things got dropped quick enough that they might qualify, though?

Ultimates: Went in with my static once, but we agreed to dropped it. The thing I enjoy most about raiding is figuring out the mechanics ourselves, instead of watching a guide - that didnt seem to possible with Ultimate (since some people had already watched a guide/video - we also probably wouldnt have made it all the way through, gotta be that honest).
Serious Fishing: While I catch the fish (and minions) that I'm intrested on for practical reasons - crafting, housing - I never really tried Big Fishing nor filling my fishing log. I still havent discovered all fishing spots in ARR... sometimes I'll think about trying, but then I always find something better to do...
Hunts: Never joined a hunt train, never helped spawning an S-rank - A-ranks I see get reported in a hunt-ls (though I'm not sure if they're even still intrested in those...) while I continue my gathering. Daily hunts are okay for leveling.
Melee-Dps: I'm leveling them, of course, but mostly with dailies and stuff that doesnt involve other people - I'll take them into the occassional leveling dungeon and hope that I dont suck completly, but I dont enjoy playing them and they get dropped once they reach max-level.
Healing EX-primals/Savage: I think I tried twice - Coil T8 and Shinryu EX. That I remember both might be a hint to what an impression those fights left... I'll happly tank or dps those fights and have come to terms with healing being to far out of my comfortzone and me being to lazy to change that...
Ranked Feast: I like PvP, I even like Feast (though I prefer Frontlines) - but I dont have this competition mindset, so this never intrested me. Should do some frontlines again, though...
Solo PotD/HoH: Tried it - I even main paladin, so I think my job should technically work to get me through? - but I just dont have the endurance for it... it was fun with friends, but damn its boring alone... (thought I'd have all the otter-traps for myself...)

I pretty much try everything this game has to offer - right now I'm even progressing Eureka - but there are a few things I dropped, like finishing the first ARR relict weapon, Big Fishing (I may come back to those one day) and Ultimate. I started raiding in this game with the last tier of Omega, dipping my toes into the water casually before I finally joined a static for Eden. It was demanding but it was also fun. Then The Epic of Alexander dropped, we all watched the World First race, watched the kill, discussed about mechanics and tried progressing it. But this time, it just wasn't fun. While Eden seems hard but always felt doable to me, this just felt frustrating and nearly impossible. And even worse, it felt like work. Hard, boring, repetitive work with little to no progress at the end of each raiding-evening so it just wasn't worth the hassle.

I know that the very hard difficulty is exactually what motivates people to clear it, as they want the challenge. But for someone like me who never had fun with games like dark souls either and has still enough trouble with E8S right now, this was just too much.

And the Feast. PvP just isn't as fun in this game as in others I've played and the only thing that makes it kind of fun/tolerable is the large scale of the bigger maps

Same here. I've watched videos on some of them, and there's no way I could remember, let alone execute most of the mechanics.

Ultimates. I've at least dabbled in about everything else. But I'm just too old & don't have the reaction time necessary for Ultimates.

Chocobo Racing/Breeding and Triple Triad since they do not interest me. Those are probably the only things in the game I have not tried.

Savage and Ultimate fights.

I only ever did Coil back in 2.0 and that was mostly because that was the only way to get the story. I was deeply intrigued by it and it was good motivation for it. I was also getting close to finishing my psych degree and had plenty of time to make for it, be it with a static or a pug. When 3.0 came out, I kinda lost interest in it. Looking back on it, I've never really been one to feel satisfied with challenge in group content. As it turned out, story was the primary motivator, and in HW you no longer needed to do hard encounters for it, so I just kinda... stopped doing that. In 2016 I started medical school. My schedule was kind of erratic for a while, so I don't think I'd have been able to be in a static even if I wanted to. Not to say that I didn't have time to play video games at all... but my time was restricted and I didn't want to step into the savage progression grind if I wasn't going to enjoy it.

Ultimates (and really potentially anything harder than Normal). It's just not my cup of tea. I play other games for challenge and, even if I wanted a challenge in FF14, hardcore group content is not the sort of challenge I find enjoyable.

I think I'd probably at least dabble in everything else though, PvP included, even if I haven't done it yet.

I am never in a rush to be first, or even be early/current on PvE content, especially raids. I just don't care. I am omega casual and the first thing I do with a new patch is check out the new housing stuff, any new Gold Saucer stuff, and that usually does it. The new story stuff, loot, whatever, I usually digest at a pace way slower than my friends. I am only just getting resistance weapons, for example.

Not to say the combat content in FFXIV is lacking, though not enough to have me rushing out the door to get it done. I just find the world first obsession to be bizarre.

Hmm... in this game... Being a good healer... >.> My healer levels came from the blood, tears, and corpses of my party members. Then again I leveled WHM in FFXI to 75 playing it as a DPS so I had a whole 30 something healing magic skill when I got there. All my other magic skills were capped along with my club skill tho and I could spam Hexastrike for days.

I've never attempted doing an Ultimate fight and likely never will barring enough of my RL friends deciding to play FFXIV, them getting to an appropriate joblevel/gearlevel, and dragging me along for the lawls.

In real life, skydiving and snorkeling. Nope, nope, nope.

In game, anything Ultimate. I'm just not good enough a player and I don't want that level of stress.

Ultimate, PotD solo clear, ranked PvP, ranked crafting, probably Baldesion Arsenal. Oh and Mahjong.

I thought I'd never try to get the mentor mount, but... I'm bored in quarantine so here we are. :D

Man, Savage/Ultimate stuff seems even less popular than LoV if this thread is anything to go by ;)

Seeing how I posted in this thread and totally forgot to mention LoV, my theory would be that Ultimate/Savage is at least something people are aware off... LoV just gets (rightfully) forgotten...

Difficult question! There are too many things I did not have the time or energy for in this game.

What comes to my mind is.. Savage and Ultimate stuff since I no longer raid due to RL responsibilities. I also do not participate in most Gold Saucer activities because they bore me. PvP I usually queue only for the daily reward or ignore it altogether. Crafting is also something I am not really interested in which shows in my lowlevel crafters. Hmm.. what else? Eureka. I have heard about it but only finished the introduction quest until now because the gear is no longer relevant and I do not really care about the glamour behind the relic quest. There are most likely much more activities I have never touched in the game. Guess I evolved into a pretty casual gamer over the last few years. ^^

There's a reason 40 man content isn't popular in MMO's anymore. Trying to organize that many people is a major PITA. The other outdated mechanics like the whole perma-death thing is ridiculous as well.

I’ll probably never Fantasia myself into an Elezen. Their necks, shoulders, and head size are just too weird, and females have a bad case of same-face-syndrome.

Ultimates and some savage tiers (lack of friends, and the amount of 3rd party tool usage turns me off most static groups- We didn't need this shit back in gordias and coil people. Pugs I'm pretty much doing never again for savage after this tier)
LoV
Monk, Bard, Ast and Sch. I unlocked bard for playing music only the gameplay of archer I never really got along with, tried my brother's max level, hated it especially with the lack of support. Monk is too clunky and I seriously dislike the npcs. Sch not until they give us carbuncle glamours and return its gameplay back to what it should be as a dot focused swiss army book wielder, same with ast going back to a time and buff based job with lots of utility and fun. Hopefully with an apology for all of these turning out so badly and not taking on feedback but I'm not holding my breath

Mentor again (lost it on shb launch...likely won't have it again due to toxcity and idiocy)
Eureka Pagos+everything else (fuck that slog fest, it was bad enough getting to level 5 in anemos, nevermind 20 for my glams)

Elezen/Hyur/Popoto/Viera and possibly Hrothgar if they don't finish and fix them. Elezen are a bit uncanny for my tastes. Hyur are dull and have boring emotes, Popotos have no voices that I like. Viera have too big lips and are too hyur like- where's their tails, claws, digitgrade feet etc (yes i'm aware of the engine limitations on the latter, but the former two have no excuse with how the models work)

It seems like your DC don't have a supportive discord for eureka stuff.
It gets easy to organize a run when you have 70+ players who wants to join. And leading them is even more fun.

For me it is active mount farming.
I can do the same boss a few times but not for hours just to get a mount.
And PvP, I tryed it, did it for garo stuff but will never do again.

I find Viera and Miqo'te very unappealing and they are the only race I have never customized and will never play as. Especially that one 5 y/o face that a lot of cat girls have. I will never play either of these two races even if you gifted me a fantasia to do so.

Cat dads on the other hand are quite nice. It's another one I haven't played as, but I totally dig them and respect them, and liked them enough to play with their customization and make a retainer.

I'm not really a big fanof Fisher, as such its the only class Ihaven't unlocked and it likely will stay that way

Savage and ultimate raiding: I used to raid in WOW, and through a lot of trial and error, discovered it's something I'm just not good at, so I never want to try it in FFXIV.

Gold saucer mini-games: Not really my thing. I did try mahjong once and didn't understand it at all. But that's about it.

PVP: Once again, not really my thing.

Using a fantasia: I've been the same character since I started playing and would never want to change him at all.

Incorrect. Primal DC has really good groups that run BA often.

Reading or watching any side story text/cutscenes that’s not main quest/DRK quest line related. Not a fan of wall of text or go to point “A” talk to guy and come back, mission complete. Cut the fat already SE or add a voice actor to read every generic NPC voice line.

Any Savage or Extreme content while it's current. I really don't like dying, which comes part and parcel with getting the choreography down for such fights. I'm also not a fan of the static raid groups typically employed for such content, as I'm not very keen on being bound to a raid schedule.

(I made an exception for Memoria Misera, as I wanted a dye-enabled GNB coat more than I hate EX content.)

I don't have much drive to bother with Ultimate. I actually quite like engaging in high end/challenging content but finding a reliable group of players who are friendly, reasonably competent and don't treat raiding like a second job has proven to be very difficult in FFXIV when compared to other MMO's that I've played.

I don't bother with ranked PvP either. I have a very strong loathing for competitive content that doesn't encourage good-sportsmanship. It doesn't help that early ranked seasons were plagued by cheating and third party sites are used to advertise and sell 'boosts' in the present day. Never allowing rewards from previous seasons to be available again in the future is also a pretty stark contrast to the rest of the game - a product of desperately trying to make FFXIV PvP into an 'e-sport', I suppose. The lack of an ability to actually chat in real time with other players is also something I detest.

I try to at least dabble in every other aspect of the game.

That can apply for a lot of MMOs with said difficulties not just XIV. I guess im starting to treat games like games and nothing more /think

pugging anything Extreme or above. I used to do it, but after the frustration that was Sephirot I completely stopped doing extremes cause pugs in this game are some of the most horrible of any mmo I have played.

Ditto to this, but different reasons.

There was SO much salt and toxicity when it was at its height of popularity that it turned me off from ever wanting to try it. Not to mention, I just didn't enjoy Eureka in general, and didn't bother making any more logograms than were required to make my weapon.... and even then I never bothered using them since it was too inconvenient to set them on PlayStation.... and since I know they're basically required to do the content, that was just another reason not to go.

The main issue I saw with Baldeson's Arsenal was player base related. In past games content organizing larger numbers of players worked fine because people would figure out how to make what they had at the time work. Nowadays players are more prone to just follow a guide for anything and not actually think for themselves. As a result they end up with an attitude of "must copy exactly or not possible" coupled with people that thing voice chat is a requirement because they feel the need to constantly say what is blatantly obvious to anyone with basic observational and analytical skills. (Two things most living organisms should have anyway).

Voice chat used by my main LS in FFXI had 0 in game related conversation when doing end game content. We would just randomly BS or sing karaoke while doing dynamis, sky, sea, HNM's etc...

PvP. This was never my thing and never will be.

PVP because it literally goes against who I am.

Pretty much all savage tier raids.

Ultimates/Savage/Some extremes. I honestly just don’t find the stress of getting a static, researching the fight, trial and error, etc all that fun. Sometimes I find myself asking for more solo content like with that solo instance for the new Queen relic weapons. That was fun to fight.

Savage and above. I've watched videos on some, and there's no way I'd remember all the mechanics. I have enough trouble learning the normal mode stuff.
