I want Ramuh beard.
So I've just unlocked level 80 artifact Warrior set..
This is unacceptable

There has to be at the very least little sprouts of chest hair. Having it completely hairless looks strangely unnatural.
I'd love to have it as an option. Not so much for myself (although a male viera with some optional chest fur would be very striking, indeed), but it'd be nice to see on other players or my retainers. Especially more beard options.
I had assumed the reason beards were so limited in this game because it was a cultural thing, I think Japan views beards differently.
Or something else entirely, I don't truly know to be honest.
I'd say it's just a more traditional view. Even here in the west lots of people still have the clean shaved or go away mindset because of the notion beards are untidy and ugly looking [how dare you]. I don't think beards even became socially accepted or considered attractive until the 2010s
I just hope they stop with the races for an expansion and focus on improving the character creator for all current races, they really need it.
There needs to be more freedom like id love to select Au Ra face X with Y horns.
I know right! It would seem like the type of coat meant to showcase your chest hair, which is non-existent in this game. Having it hairless just makes you look more feminine, which goes against the Warrior aesthetic. In fact I think this set looks more masculine on females than on males!

Looks much more badass on females IMO.
I agree, a distinct look in that particular armor design would have been better. I try to avoid impractical armor for the most part, but it's tough in FFXIV (just look at the giant buster swords) Or like tank armor that's just a giant metal torso that would realistically, make you move slow & walk like a stiff stick (there'd be some kind of give around the waist & ribs for easier movement).
- there are a lot of armor piece designs that kind of make you scratch your head clearly seeing it looks better on more masculine types than female (strife outfit/ Noctis' outfit/ squalls dissidia outfit) are just 3 that come to mind--- but the same goes for feminine types as well.
There are alot of questionable designs in any MMO though-- but take a step back & look at the variety of hairstyles as well; most are short, some kind of spikey or a mullet (short on top/ long back) & it makes you wonder if any SE designers have ever looked in a hairstyle book that isn't from the 1980's or a cartoon.
That bulky level 50 armor comes to mind. Yes, Final Fantasy as a whole is kind of known for having ridiculous weapon designs, and hair. Kind of what you should know going in. Still, some of the armor and weapon designs are.... undeniably ridiculous. A lot of the hairs we have were designed by players though. Some contest.
Holy crap I just noticed those abs! LMAO how huge do your abs have to be to show such pattern on leather and chain mail overlay. Does NOT check out with with nude upper body at all, at least with Hyur Midlander. Would also mean you have somewhat fat belly with abs on top of it since the armor would suggest it's further upfront than the chest, or you have some weird malformed body. Goddamn wish you didn't point that out cause I wouldn't have noticed it lol.
I'm guessing the male version of that set was designed for Hrothgar.
PS4 limitations.
it doesn't I'm currently playing another game on ps4 where its really funcational as it is irl on people with those options on it. the options of hair and stuff like that honestly takes such little space. Our glowly weapon stuff is more effective to lay on the system than a body hair lol
Not sure if you're playing along with it or not so I'm gonna say it just in case :P
I'm joking. I'm sure the original ps4 limitation post was also a joke. The "ps4 limitation" argument has probably become a running gag on these forums. Obviously those cheap hair particles aren't going to make a dent in performance (I would assume).
edit: don't worry about it though I might have fallen for it too if I were in different mindset or looking from different perspective.
Unfortunately some people genuinely believe it. A regular PS4 is going to struggle with framerates but will otherwise be fine. A PS4 Pro runs FF XIV almost perfectly. It just doesn't have all the fancy settings that the PC version does. Honestly, with how flawless the FF 7 Remake is going to run even on a regular PS4, it's not the system that is limiting the game. It is the game's engine and SE's unwillingness to perform meaningful upgrades.
