Dark mode for the new launcher please.

Ahh that would explain why my cursor was going nuts randomly hopping between regular and loading arrows every couple seconds.

I can't even access the new launcher - the option to select it in the launcher Config is greyed out, although I suspect that the new launcher uses DX11, where as I'm still a 32-bit/DX9 hold-out. I guess this will finally kill off 32-bit access to the game for good.

Ah well, it was to be expected, so I cannot complain.

EDIT: and a FC mate suggested it may be that the new launcher is using Microsoft Edge's API under the hood (which I don't have installed on this Win 7 machine), where as the old launcher uses Internet Explorer. Guess I'll have to finally join the year 2015 and upgrade.

I just like dark themes, they're easier on my eyes. I'm not gonna take any drastic action or anything over the launcher changing though.

please can we have a dark skin version of this new launcher it hurts my eyes looking at it too long it may only really be a problem on patch days or there is interesting news on it but this sums it up for me:

As someone who suffers eye migraine. A dark mode would be very appreciated before the old launcher is removed for good..!

I mean, it's fine the way it is. The reason all of you have melting eyes is because your screens are brighter than your rooms. Your monitor should be the same brightness as your room to prevent ..

Apart from the fact that the new Launcher does not look good. The Virtual Keyboard has gone too.

For those on pc, simply click the gear on the upper right of the launcher. The last option is to change back to the old dark launcher.

For everyone else, go into your config on the launcher and set it to the old one.

I haven't seen a way to switch back on PS4 so seems to be only for PC

Its daytime with the sun out here with curtains open and it still hurts my eyes

Edit: this is the reason i like dark modes, i'm fine with light modes for those that want them but i can't handle them for more than a few mins tops so i would like an inverse color scheme that is all.

Eye sensitivity is a thing that can happen regardless of how well lit your monitors or your room happen to be. My monitors are all set to 0 brightness and contrast and bright shades can still hurt my eyes if I stare at it for too long. Mind the new launcher it's not as bad as pure FFFFFF white, that honor goes to redesigned Twitch which was immediately switched over to Dark Mode to keep a migraine from developing, but having launcher options for personal comfort isn't asking all that much. It's pretty standard practice these days.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Please, dark mode for launcher.

Not really a big deal, you have the launcher open for a few seconds anyway before logging in.

Maybe because it was more clunky. GW2's launcher is smoother and way more modern and it came out in 2012.

Because the issue comes with only launcher that will be barely 10s up, I have to adjust the whole surrounding to counter the 10s-spotlight? When your lamp burns out, do you switch on all other light sources in the entire room instead of changing the one light bulb?

Some people like the light theme and thats ok, but for those of us who dont... Please give us a dark theme ASAP. its really bright

As do I! I really hope they give us the option to have a dark mode.

The fact that SE is forcing a bright light theme when most other developers are offering dark modes just shows how out of touch and arrogant they are.

People want dark modes for eye strain, yet SE thinks they know better.

I wouldn't mind waiting for the next patch to actually have the new launcher (with dark theme). I'll keep using the old launcher untill they remove that option.
I hope the new launcher will have a dark theme by the time they completly remove the old launcher.

If not ... maybe time for a new game?

Edit: also where are the launch arguments?? Guild Wars 1, a game from 2004 had launch arguments you could set.

It's clearly telling you to become the Warrior of Darkness to vanquish the everlasting light of the new launcher.

The way they worded the ability change them, suggests eventually they will remove the black one, so just stick with the fugly bright for no reason new default skin.

Since both white and black versions are just themes to the same launcher, there's no reason to remove one except for SE to force it on us. It's not like they really need to "support" the black launcher, it's hardly been touched in 6 years!

I too want an option for a dark mode theme for the launcher. I like some of the aspects of the new launcher, but really dislike the white background.

I'm a firm supporter of every app needing a dark mode option.

Dark themes exist because they're pleasant on the eyes, they cause much less eye strain than light themes.
Go to a site with lots of whites, yellows and beige's (like perhaps a site you're browsing right now) and its like shining a flashlight in your face.
Doubly effective/annoying when you're in a dark room, which lets be honest, is something many people who play mmos do.

My screen brightness is already as low as it needs to be for most things I use regularly to not give me any problems at all, so it's just eye searingly white websites that can be an issue sometimes. :p

Nothing at all wrong with options when it comes to things like this imo.

Everyone wants dark or light... Might I suggest fire and ice or earth/wind/electric/water mode launchers too? Like I know elemental stuff is pretty useless in this game but having all the elemental options for the launcher would be great!

dark version please! it hurts my eyes badly, like a sudden flashlight! I have brightness everywhere to a minimum and have a browser app adjusting any light colors on the webpages! I even have to wear a cap indors because of the daylight lamps at work!
and while we're at it - dark theme for the forums please!
