Did you switch jobs in shadowbringers?, from what to what and why?

Main Monk,BLM here since ARR and don’t plan to change them.
BUT its about geared up priority between these 2 jobs.
Back in ARR,my geared up’s priority went to Blm.
In HW and SB,Geared up’s priority change to Monk.
And now Shadowbringer with well...current monk...
I might change my geared up priority to Blm again ....

Still SCH/RDM at the moment.

But since i´m leveling all Jobs to 80 it could of course change later.
That is the best about this game for me, I can change mains whenever i want, because its all on 1 Charakter.

Switched from AST to WHM since I dont find playing AST enjoyable anymore due to card changes and low healing performance.

I did not :) as awkward as it is having a totally different job under the same name for a third time in a row.

I did change my secondary from Monk to Gunbreaker though, for character headcanon reasons (shooty, engineery prodigy-like)

I have been playing mostly BLM and WHM since i've played this game. I'm still playing the jobs but i'm playing DNC too as it was a job i was waiting since a while.

I switched from RDM/BLM to Dancer, cause it's what I've wanted to play ever since 1.0, and I absolutely love it.

Switched from SMN to WHM for the moment, because it is really really bad, and doesn't feel rewarding to put a lot of effort into buttonmashing and tripple weaving lol

came back to the game from few years pause from the game, leveled DRG to 80, made him anima weapon, got bored by button mashing and too complicated rotations (more than 25 buttons keybinded) and low dmg 100 button dmg ratio really piss me off, switched now for SAM and I like it better. DRG class needs macros from pvp. 1983298 buttons and skills does not make class interesting, quite opposite. Watching my skills if i pressed right button while aoes, mobs attack me really is not my thing, and cant enjoy fighting.

I mained healing in HW/SB. I was a SCH/AST but after the changes they don't feel right to me anymore. I gave up healing entirely. I heard that they wanted to have healers focus more on healing so that is why the jobs changed. I get it but i loved DoTs/shadow flare on my sch and they are sorely missed, I'm bored on the Job. AST....my poor AST. I hate it. I feel weak, the cards are a mess in my opinion and it's just not fun to play always fishing for seals. I'm just over it.

I DPS now. I main MCH. I liked it in HW and I love it now. So that was a nice change. I put my Ninja on hiatus maybe for drg or sam. I don't know yet.
As for MDPS, I was a RDM. I don't know I am just enjoying melee/rdps more this expansion pack.

I haven't switched yet, but I'm in the process of getting my BLM to 80. I mained SMN in 2.0 and 3.0, and RDM in 4.0. After being disappointed with the fact that RDM wasn't really expanded upon, I went back to SMN after all the job changes were announced. I don't hate the current iteration of SMN, and I think it's close, but it just doesn't flow like the other two jobs. I think fixing SMN would be pretty simple. Increase potency on egi assaults, and increase CD to 60 seconds each, each granting 2 ruin IVs. Maybe even slightly lower recast of DWT and FBT

Still maining BLM but secondary maining dancer now instead of RDM, which RDM got quite boring compared to the rest~
Also planning to get into tanking with GNB.

I am so very torn on my WAR right now.

I have played it since the start and it has always been my main.

This expansion however I just don't dig some of the mechanics, yet I still love the fantasy and how the animations are no-nonsense and feel hefty. I like the idea of being able to keep your cool when you need to and then just let loose when people need a taste of your axe.

But it's really clunky right now.

In SB I had levelled both PLD and WAR and kept WAR as my main, but would switch to PLD for synergy reasons. I thought the animations of PLD were also fairly nonsense and the class felt agile, so I liked it, but I find tanking without a shield somewhat appealing fantasy wise. You know, take no crap from anyone, I ain't hiding ;)

So I have been trying DRK and I like the fluidity, I like the mechanics, and it also feels somewhat right to play it this expansion given that I did the story as WAR so the whole light/dark thing is a cool thing to play, and it really also worked really well with being Ardbert's "opposite". But there are some animations that just feel too fancy and a little unbelievable, and whilst this is a fantasy, there are some things I just can't quite get into.

Plus, whilst I prefer the DRK and GNB rotation, I really like the defensiveness of WAR.

So I am not really sure. I am probably just going to main WAR and level a couple of other characters and see how it feels as they become higher level.

Sorry I meant to say the PLD animations were fairly no-nonsense.

I guess I am atypical in the way I play. I don't have a "main" and one alt; I go for all jobs, war and magic, gathering and crafting, and level them at the same rate. I usually play each job/class in 5 level increments and then switch for a while. I find it breaks up some tedium and enhances the play - e.g. first time doing Garuda Extreme as Dragoon obviously very different than doing same as WHM.

WHM has been my main since HW and i stick with it. Secondary class is still ressmage and i still stick to PLD as tank (i haven't tested gunbreaker though). I'm also sticking with samurai. I dabbled a bit into machnist again (was lvl 45 before ShB) after the rework and it feels like a lot of fun, so maybe i'll pick that up, but first i'll level the other 4 classes to 80 (WHM and RDM already are).

Different styles. GNB is pretty much a DPS with a few defensive cooldowns. He has a DPS rotation and all. DRK is more of a resource management tank, involves more planning and quick decision making so i prefer it.

tbh i wonder how many jobs this will hit.

SAMs been simplified alot, i've heard some say its Skill ceiling got higher??.. but im unsure if thats true, some are saying its Basically SB SAM on a Easier Difficulty, RDM gained no Depth which leaves it pretty Simplified in itself, Dragoon got abit easier to play which seems to already be grating on some, both Dancer and GnB Dont seem to be very difficult or complex, Bards dropped in Skill Ceiling, while it does have some stuff to look after, i wouldnt Say its hard to play.

I'd say the only difficult jobs Left would be Ninja and Summoner, with Monk (after its Skill Ceiling was reduced with the loss of Double TK) and Machinist below.

I do hear Dancer does have some depth to it though i read on balance it does Deceptively look easy to play, yet hold alot of choice in its Play. due to being able to stack procs and more.

Follow up to my last post: I'm going to be sticking with MCH as my new main. I'll probably still level up my SCH eventually but I'm done with healing as a main role.

I switched from WAR to GNB for my main class because I really like the whole proc thing going on. I switched from SCH to WHM for my secondary class because Scholar just feels wrong to me now. As for DPS I've been playing around with NIN because its more complex.

For my Tank I went from PLD to GNB. With the new changes to MCH I'm planning on leveling that as my primary DPS since the reworks look fun to play (Gimmie a Pile Bunker Robo-Queen anyday)

I have mained a variety over the course of FFXIV, from SMN to WHM to NIN to AST to RDM, and when 5.0 dropped I swapped to DNC. It's at 80 and my best geared class, but I also leveled RDM to 80. I like both, but I feel less confident on DNC. Not just because I have less experience with it, but also because of the way the classes play. RDM doesn't rely on burst windows or very much RNG at all, while DNC does. Even if RDM DPS isn't the best, at least it's consistent. DNC RNG and a lot of discussion about parsing and numbers has consistently had my confidence shook. I still like DNC, but I'm not sure if I'll keep it as my main focus at this point.

When ShB dropped I played the story as Samurai but dropped it right after a few Innocence/Titania-EX runs as I wasn't really happy with the class. Then I picked up Gunbreaker, leveled it to 80 and now it's even my new main class . For me, it's just way more fun to play.

From AST to WHM. From RDM to BLM. I am finding it hard to play the other dps now, I really am not sure why. The changes to AST I am just not a fan of, would really like the old card system back minus a change to spire cus TPless.

I mained BRD in Heavensward. Was one of the few who liked that iteration, but it only got better in Stormblood, where I mained it again. For Shadowbringers, I fully intended to switch mains to DNC. I would go on and on with my boyfriend about how excited I was to play it, as well as how hopeful I was to be able to get to raid on it.

Well, it turns out that I hold the unpopular opinion that the job is clunky. I also didn't realize how selfish I was in that dealing such comparatively low damage, even while doing my best, feels bad to me.

BRD has always been a good middle ground between support and DPS, and even though they've lost most of their support kit, it just feels so good to me this expansion. The proc rate is very consistent and never feels punishing like it does on DNC. Apex Arrow is a nice "cherry on top" for utilizing procs effectively. So here I am, maining BRD again in Shadowbringers.

Why not give MCH a shot. Ranged with good dmg.

My main job at the moment is basically "anything but summoner" shb pretty much sucked out all the fun out of that job and I'm just kind of trying to find a new home. Shame cause sb summoner was like my perfect class and now everything else seems just ok at best. :(

Went from MNK to MCH. Fell in love with the hypercharge mechanic and absolutely loathed the loss of so many oGCD on MNK - and the fact that they haven't yet removed the slowdown on RoF, which is why I hated MNK on StB.

Went from monk/ninja to RDM.

A weird feeling but RDM aesthetically has always been my favourite I’ve always loved being a melee ranged hybrid (although I wish there was more to the melee kit)

Played Arcanist from the beginning. Was up to Summoner 54 when the patch hit. Did not care for the changes. Happened to be by the Red Mage quest giver while working on story quests and decided what the hell. Now I’m up to Red Mage 56 and loving it.

From SCH to AST, and boy....was that a mistake, now leveling RDM and having a good time with it. Planning to main it. If not, BRD will be my last attempt at this.

Dps: went from MNK to MCH. I liked sb MNK but shb feels bad. MCH feels like i have my own phases haha

Tank: WAR to GNB. I played WAR because the playstyle was fun, but i dont like the aesthetic. GNB is fun and i like how it looks

Healer: AST to not healing. AST needs help..

On DPS my main has been NIN for the longest time.
Right now Im inclined to SAM my way through (unless NIN gets fixed)

On Tanks, from DRK to GNB, I pick a main tank every expansion and this one is GNB. But I like it too much, doubt I'll ever change it. (Unless SE proves otherwise)

I went from SAM to NIN lol. Sam is awesome though and is one of the few classes that got more interesting this time.

In SB, the best answer I can give is that I was a Rdm and Smn main with Rdm being what I played the most. Now in Shb I'm a Dnc to the point that it is extremely hard for me to play anything else because I love dancer so much. Between it's more utility and supportive nature, the removal of tp so the only resource management is job specific stuff and the mobility of being a physical ranged over caster has my permanently hooked on not only dancer, but physical ranged jobs in general.

I've been considering changing from SMN to DRG, but mostly for balancing out my static a bit more. A part of me is still cautious that the current problems with SMN may persist for most of the expansion, but I have less misgivings than I did at the start of the expansion, and I do think there are ways to make the job more rewarding and flow better. Some thoughts are probably easily adjusted, others might be less likely to happen but would still be nice. Once I finish leveling DRG and get some more practice with it, I'll decide which I would rather go with. I do find DRG to be far more straightforward, despite getting used to the melee mentality, but I have hope that SMN will get better by the time 5.1 drops too. The hardest part will be planning out which class to gear up for the upcoming Savage content, with the lockouts in place. SMN will probably have to remain the priority for now, but I don't want my DRG to fall too far behind either once I get that far, which shouldn't be too much longer now. But again, there will be crafted gear soon which is a viable option. Again, I'll wait until I have some experience with lv80 DRG before I make a choice, but at the very least I have my static's blessing either way.

My first job was a monk. My main job is a monk. My new job is... still a monk. I get some of the disappointment, but I don't have any complaints. Still fun for me to play as. Leveling other classes for fun and for the role quests, but I will still be a monk main.

I was a DRG MCH NIN user.

MCH feels..., well I don't really know if it feels 'better'. I was actually pretty happy with it outside of Overheat and Wildfire back in Stormblood. I feel like I need to put a lot of time into relearning MCH as I keep trying to go for my bullets(Also how do the 30-50 quest line handle that?). So until I get around to it, MCH gets dropped. I had been leveling BLM at the end of Stormblood so hopped on that for my ranged damage. I don't have the rotation down but it feels pretty good thus far.

NIN..., probably dropped till I see some buffs. Trick Attack alone is not enough to be behind everyone else and I don't think that will change when I get Bushin. Everything takes so long to die in Trusts and solo play I can only picture it in human parties.

DRG not dropped. I'll probably pick my jumpy boy back up again. But ARR, Heavensward, and Stormblood as my main? I need something new.

Thus I switched to SAM who I was also leveling at the end of Stormblood. Also feels pretty good and being able to crank out 3 30k+ hits in a row feels pretty good when everything is ready to go.

That's for my DPS. I won't be long but;
DRK - Dropped for anything else. Might be better but doesn't feel as fun anymore. Looking into WAR till the balance patch then maybe gunbreaker.

NIN is fun to play this expansion over, just didn't like much the resulting damage. Its opener is the most interesting it has ever been.
