I just want the ability to comm someone after they leave. Seems like 90% of the time the person who most deserves a commend is the first out the instance door.

Man, I flipped through 5 pages to see if the train-wreck OP had responded, and there's nothing? Disappointed.
If you think you're entitled to coms or all coms then you've missed the point of the system. Even if a player wants to com someone because they like their glamor, it's a player driven system that has no strict rules. I've had dungeons where I know I've saved wipes, lead people who are new and received nothing. Yeah sure it would be nice but that's the nature of randomness. For the most part if you're polite, do the mechanics and perform well you will get a com or 2.
I've had triple coms on my Bard for just doing nicely timed player buffs when I know they are about to die etc. I don't do it for coms, I do it because I want to finish things efficiently and contribute.
I just got a DPS com then on my SAM, pretty much because I was spot on with my AOE for trash I think, but maybe they just liked my outfit. Who knows.
For the most part heal/tanks will get more coms because a healer dying in many fights is just an automatic wipe etc. A tank who isn't pulling efficiently or not doing mechanics is either an instant wipe or a dungeon that should be 15-20min turns into 45min. So yeah, a good tank or heal is going to get more coms. But if you're doing really good dps and following mechanics you will get quite a few single coms from non dps players.

Playing semi-casually since ARR. 6,302 instanced dungeons/trials ran in total and I've probably typed in less than a thousand of them so I'm going to assume saying "hi" is not a requirement for getting a commendation. However, playing well or not being a bad person is. And it's funny because I was once told that "silence is an attitude". Sweetie, what.
Oh and if you do everything with premades, you're going to naturally not get commendations because pre-mades cannot comm you. I wouldn't worry so much about them though. The rewards from the comms aren't even that nice.
YOU CANNOT KILL ME, WITH THE DEVIL IN MEEEEEEEE!
Capcom LTD. :D
Oh boy-o-howdy, more useless complaints?

Commendation system?
Is that the one where people can throw comms at others willy-nilly?
Or the one one where they do it for the challenge log?
Or the one they give because only one person in their party is a random, the rest are premade?
I didn’t play during ARR,
And I have about 3,000 comms from DPS, if you’re a good DPS as in everyone can feel it going fast, you don’t get hit by much. People notice more than you think.
I’ll agree in 8 man content it’s hard to be noticed unless someone in there has a meter.
Currently sitting at 1,572 ever since 2.0 XD Though comms has been quite dry of late what with me only just returning. I will say though that quite a few came from when I was on my DPS, as well as my tank. I literally got like 5 in one raid mostly because I was a big help in explaining the mechanics and what not. 3 Keys to a comm; Kind, Curtious and Helpful.
I want a comm from all of you for posting on this thread dammit!...(arms folded)....
and another thing GIVE ME WHAT I WANT OR ELSE...
Seriously, if your worried about comm play something else...
I've been playing this game actively since July of 2017, and right now I have over 4000 commendations.
Here's some of my assumed reasons why people would comm:
1.You're a good person. You greet people when you start a dungeon, and thank them when it ends. If people joke around and you can do it too. It's all about creating a fun atmosphere as we repeat this content constantly.
2. You're a good player. You're a tank who managed to hold aggro as much as possible, you're a healer keeping everyone topped off, you perform exceedingly well as a dps. You also use your toolkit properly, goading/manashifting/refreshing, helping with mitigation/aggro control etc.
3. You generally play a tank or healer. This is a big one as they are the jobs not many people like to play due to responsibility. There's a reason why tanks are constantly AIN on the DF. A tank will generally comm a healer and the healer comms the tank vice versa. They have to work together so they both respect each other.
4. You may just have a fun username/glam. That happens sometimes especially if your name is funny/memeworthy. Not a constant but it may happen if everything is pretty neutral between everyone.
Just gonna say though if you have 107 in 4 years of playing the game I do worry about you. Sounds like you don't meet any of the criteria listed above and based on your original post I wouldn't comm you lmao.
I dunno. I get Commendations with Tank and dps alike. Where is the problem? Im at over 3300 atm while touching healers only for Leveling them or doing some pvp.
You got to stand out to get a commendation. Usually I'll give mine to whomever was the most helpful to the group. So just by doing the bare minimum of your job you don't automatically get one. You got to go beyond that. Like giving tips or refreshers on old boss fights, or if you're a Bard spamming Peloton between big pulls, DPS doing big numbers making our fights noticeably faster AND using enmity reduction skills, Tanks doing big pulls and actually using their cool downs, Healers maximizing DPS while keeping everyone alive, ect. Being friendly is also a big plus. If nobody was particularly good at their job, but someone was super friendly and social i'll give them the commendation at the end just for the good conversation. This is especially true in the non-skippable cutscene MSQ roulette. Friendly and funny people make those runs so much easier to tolerate so if you're cracking jokes and we're having a good time you're going to get my commendation.
I have got over 3500 commends in almost 4 years of playing. I play healer a lot so that probably has something to do with it and I dont say things a lot when I am in a dungeon. I just do my job to the best of my ability so we can get out of the dungeon in a reasonable manner. However it isnt a big deal if I dont get them.
I dont always give comms either, but if I do it is usually to someone that I think did the best and that is sometimes a dps. Or it could be their name, glam, or what their race is, but it is usually who did the best job imo.
It's too bad people don't seem to do that, for the most part. I can solo heal the majority of fights, save the team, etc. I won't get a single one, or if I am LUCKY I'll get ONE. I do get commendations regularly, but it seems I get them at random. Sometimes, I'll get 3 in a dungeon and I have literally no clue what I did, same with raids.. I have been half afk, and I'll get several. One thing I have noticed, for raids specifically, as a healer I tend to get more commendations thrown at me.
I don't think there is any true way of knowing what you need to do to receive any, you just get them when you do. Don't expect any, and you will be pleasantly surprised, or just genuinely surprised when you get them.
I dunno. I got 145, but seeing as to how I'm a Dragoon, I'm just glad I got any at all.
yes, it is a joke, the rewards are horrible, the main reward is almost identical 2.0 collector's edition mount and they also made it even more lame by adding a white fat choco to some soda add campaign which was not even available in most countries.
So, you want a participation award or something? I find it hard to believe that after four years of constant playing you'd only have that few commendations. I've been playing since 2.0 and I'm at almost 3,000. Perhaps you're not doing something to stand out, or on the other hand, not doing things well? Are you kind to your party when running content?
I wouldnt take it personally OP. There are times I felt I was mr. Amazing Mage (like last night running Ala Migho for the first time) and received no accommodations and other times where I though my showing was completely abysmal and got three of them.
That's just how it goes sometimes.
Level a and run things as a tank, commendations will rain upon you. Dps only get commendations if they help explain mechanics to new people or are friendly.
I wouldnt give you a commendation either.
No matter how many times I read it, this just looks like a temper tantrum. I can actually hear you stomping your feet while I read this.
All you play is bard. As everyone else has said DPS doesn't really get commendations, ranged DPS is kinda doubly so since most of the time all the party sees is you standing to the side and plinking. If you wanna farm them you gotta do things people are appreciative of like tanking or healing.
I have thousands of commendations as a dps main, if you only have that many after 4 years it tells me that you simply aren't doing your job. Not keeping songs up, using refresh/tactician, palisade, keeping dots up ect. You could also simply be saying things nonconstructive in chat. The point being that if you have such low comm numbers after that long a time span it's because of something you are (or aren't) doing.
people like OP are the reason i leave every single duty giving 0 commendations
Honestly, one of the easiest things to do to get comms as ANY role, is be the last person in the instance. The newbies getting out of their cutscenes then only have one person to comm, and it's you!
Also you know, don't be a jerk, and play well. Support abilities go a long way. Can your class heal/raise and the run is getting dicey? Use 'em! Heal yourself! Raise your fellow deeps if you can, save the healer's mana!
As simple "Hi!" at the start, a /cheer if someone levels, Heck, macro a goodbye message, and you'll be drowning in comms, even as dps.
Basically, show a little more emotion, remind people that they are playing with a player, not their squadron.
Another jester for the forum court.
I was just thinking of this yesterday and it just so happens on multiple occasions i get no comms.
I feel as Red Mage i am often the rez mage plus bringing dps and never do i get comms. Yesterday i raised several people in our group, including the healers a few times in the 24 mans.
The machinist was going on about how he appreciated the healers and while i did not say it i thought to myself what about us rez mages raising your sorry asses all the time. lol
Plus the fact that i always transfer mana to the heals and sometimes other Red Mages or Bards..
At the end of the day you cannot let it bother you, and just enjoy the game. There is more things to worry about in life
the commendation thing is old outdated if you wasn't there for the release its going to be harder to get.
4 years and only 107? I don't think the system is at fault here.
You earn commendations, you're not entitled to them.
Did you just say you've been playing for 4 years and only got 107 commends?!?!?! I had 480 before I lost my sprout icon, and got the gold version magitek mount before reaching 5 months of playing. I wanted to be a mentor after I lost sprout but it said I only did 260 dungeons, raids, trials so I need to do like 750 more. I'm surprised you've only gotten 100+ commends in 4 years. I was going to say maybe people just commend a lot on Aether maybe but I moved to Chaos datacenter and I still get them. I also give them to people all the time, on every duty I do.
If you've only gotten 107 in 4 years, you may want to evaluate your own actions instead of the random people you get in duty finder. I think your attitude towards the system has already made it pretty clear that the issue is you, not the system. Like a bunch of people have already said, commends are not an entitlement. You earn them.
I've been playing for close to 5 years and I have 889. And that's with playing DPS primarily.
I primarily run dungeons as a bard and get plenty of comms.
People love swiftsong/peloton, just use it between pulls and you'll probly get comms from people that like to go fast.
Even as a dps you should not have only 107 commendations. I get commendations on dragoon and bard all the dang time. But that's bc I bring both good dps, I give support buffs at the right time, I always think of people's tp/mp if I am on bard, and most of all, I know the mechanics inside and out. It's not hard to get comms. However, if you want commendations so badly, roll out a healer or tank. But then again if you're not healing and dps'ing you will most likely not get commendations, if you're not tanking and doing high dps you will not get them either.
But after 4 years with 107 commendations you are either very lacking in the dps department, really bad at mechanics, or just plain rude. Or you are hiding something in your story such as using one too many premades or simply not playing as much as you like us all to think.
Also I hit the 3k mark last year after playing for four years. Played a lot of dps in the mixed of that and it didn't really hamper my commendation score that much compared to when I healed/tanked.
From what I just read, you might need to lose some of those comms you got, I think you have too many.
I'm a DPS and get lots of comms. Maybe the problem is with OP.
Also are we all going to be called jerks because this was really just a joke thread?
If that's how you dress your character then I wouldn't give you a commendation either. You want them? Earn them.
Legit, people care about commendations?
