I'm pretty sure you are wrong. IIRC they did in fact state that character would not lose any progress. That sounds pretty much like a no wipe to me.

The moon is soaked in the blood of a billion Marmots, soon the Marmots..shall..have..there..REVENGE!!!
Since I've logged in and seen the moon I've turned off game music. It's just too happy/peaceful... not ominous enough.
The silence is more eerie. :x
the only thing this confirms to me is dynamic textures cant move they must remain in static positions.
and that soon the marmots will initiate Operation:Moon Kick.
the secret is to use the jump ability when it hits to negate any damage done.
you could also just teleport right when it hits to get stuck in the atherite stream......<--may be potential spoiler.
OMG ITS A HUGE BALL OF FIRE!!!! RUN FOR UR LIIIIIVVVVEEESSS!!!

For character data, basically everything: levels, EXP, gil, achievements, quests, and history will be transferred, so don't worry.
However, I'd like to warn you about two things. In the case of quests, those you've just received or completed will be carried over properly. But for the steps in-between, there is a chance that progress will be lost.
The other thing I'd like to mention is the inventory. Inventory space was expanded in 1.19. However, in 2.0 we will be introducing the mannequin system where players can store their equipment, so we are thinking about reverting to the 100-slot inventory in the future. We won't be deleting the items—they'll instead be stored with NPCs, and players will have to retrieve them once Version 2.0 arrives. We'll announce details as they're ironed out, so please don't worry.
"Dalamud".
I actually tend to play this song now.

Going way back with square-enix(squaresoft) their rpg's lol. Seems like S-E always liked their impending doom floating in the sky.
And I'm hoping that next patch the sky will turn red or something to play the next song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmbHFF3iFgs
It's alright guys, once it's about to strike just go inside your Inn rooms. You can't even Synth in there! D:
I believe Dalmund will act like an aether magnet which will get stronger the closer it gets and will start tearing the aether from the planets crust very soon, i expect random seismic events (smalltremors) to start taking place in 1.22. In 1.23 i expect the sky to be entirely red and landscape changes will begin occuring with Aether crystaline structures popping up all over erozea.
Just take a look at some of the 2.0 pdf files with the concept art. One pic shows a massive aether crystal sticking though the planets crust, another shows an aether camps crystal actualy chained down as if its being pulled towards the sky.
I had a really weird dream about the moon. D:
I looked outside and our moon looked like it did in-game. Everyone was panicking..
Next day I looked outside at it again, and it was larger/closer.... but I could see that it was actually a big flaming ball of octopus-like tentacles. D: FLAMING OCTOPUS FROM SPACE!!!!!!! RUN!
I don't know if it's a glitch, but Dalamund is MASSIVE for me right now. I just took this screenshot.

Dalmund crashing, or at least near-missing Eorzea would indeed be a pretty cool excuse to wipe characters for 2.0. Now before you go about flaming me with "quotations" and remarks about what SE has stated about this - I know and I've heard and I've read.
However, I can't help but wonder how SE plans to balance and scale the game while catering to both pre 2.0 players, who'll presumably be fairly maxed out in levels, jobs, w/e, and also catering to new players.
Either way - I think it's interesting that Dalmund falling can be eerily likened to this
When you start dreaming about Dalamud in your real life, it's evidence SE did something right:cool:
@Kyra: I love all those ideas and really want them to happen, but I doubt that's how it will be.
I guess the dev team will be too afraid to affect regular gameplay and just make tiny changes + big change with 2.0.
Although it would be SO MUCH MORE AWESOME for those playing in this era.
However it is the most logical, with all the compiled information we have =).
-Red moon Gradually getting closer
-PDf's Aether's are being pulled from its Camps ( has to be for some reason) and Im sure that "reason" is because of Dalamud
- Grand Companies trying to stop this from happening
- Jobs are now here ( in which in the PDF Screenshot, they are within the 2.0 Era)
I say Her Analysis is about 90% chance of happening.
Only one thing can stop Dalamund now...

oh lawdy, i cannot remember the name of that film...
great post lol
Someone casted meteor...it was so slow it took 2 years to fall upon the citizens of Eorzea.
But who did and why...
Note: This is a joke.
If that thing is landing on Gridania then im getting the hell out of there. Every man, cat lady, gigantic beast, midget or elf for him/herself! Im betting it is a count down til 2.0 as shown in the pictures on the last page (Though fairly obvious after that.) I can't believe how unnoticeable it was in patches 1.19 and 1.20. Look at it now. The fun part is, It is like waiting to die a horrible death due to the moon/meteor falling.
