Because the Power Glove was designed and manufactured not by Nintendo, but designed by A.G.E., manufactured by Mattel in the U.S. and by PAX in Japan, while Nintendo only licensed it (as only two games actually took advantage of it, it seems that Nintendo wasn't fond of such a design).
