Yeah, I'm sure people picked Tank to play Mage.
Also, you're still missing the point.
But I'll leave it. No point wasting time talking to someone who can't be bothered to actually read things.

I do read it. But I only respond to the part that we're actually contending on.
That point being "Tanks pick tanks to play tanks". I disagreed there. These forums have expressed a clear dislike to the idea of being a tank as opposed to just being a more durable, less interesting melee damage dealer.
The other point, or points rather, about what Tanking should entail I have no issue with.
I have to say DRK is in a far better place now than they were at the beginning of Stormblood back then DRKs were actually getting kicked in content in hopes of getting a Paladin or Warrior.
Dude, in the beginning WAR had little DPS advantage over the other two tanks, a horrendous penalty on switching stances, a needlessly complex berserk window, and a useless SiO. DRK was not being kicked for simply being DRK when people were taking WARs without issue.
Resource costs for switching stances? Resource management during your burst window? The odd fluff ability that doesn't have fifteen different beneficial uses? Truly challenging times. I can't say that any other job has to deal with these things (Protip: they all do).
In 5.0, they should just get rid of all of the 'complicated' resource bars and buttons on WAR, and just replace them with this:

I generally healed back then never had a problem with any of the tanks I healed on my old main Though gotta say Warriors were definitely out there sometimes now I know why. But by the same token DRKs were getting kicked for the aformentioned reasons Having finally broken down and tanked again myself I have to admit to being fond of both PLD and DRK but WAR was the most fun leveling process.
Hmm someone correct me if Im wrong, but there is no 'hard' MT role. All 3 Tanks can soak damage. The differences is that PLD sucks when it comes to pulling due to stances. On the pull its WAR>DRK>PLD. From there it's whatever, though WAR tends to edge out PLD in Dmg by a little bit, wiht DRK trailing a bit behind that. Even more so is that DRK, compared to the other two tanks, requires more thought/effort to deal similar damage.
But beyond that, there is no 'set' MT. Unless SE plans on changing that, they can all do the job effectively, and a lot of the savage fights required tank swaps anyways.
