Yep, I'm used to pretty high standards in regards to gaming. Sorry?

Your idea of high standards is being treated like a child? Well ok then. At least your honest about it.
Those of us who know how to look at updates and notifications will continue not being surprised when game goes down for maintenance. Something the rest of us figure is at least decent standards to have.
I just wanted to add this thread of ideas that I imagine for many it feels like agreeing to a ToS and people's eyes glaze over. Putting it into the news panel (sliding panel, not the thing below it lol which it already is there) would help in that its like three words in large color font and people will actually read that (more likely than small text or ToS text).
Not saying it's perfect but just wanted to add that a large image with a few words is a different style of presentation than the others (ok button and news section). Not that I think SE failed us or anything, they clearly tried pretty hard with a whole page you have to hit ok to lol. Just thinking that an image with a few words may help in attracting a different type of person's attention (like youtube thumbnail) vs people who prefer to read articles without many or any pictures- of course there will be some overlap and some people missed either way XD.
Ah yes, the links. Trouble is, there are ALWAYS links there for one reason or another.
To be honest though, I didn't bother checking those because I thought there was an issue with MY game or computer. Again, error 2002? How am I supposed to know what that means?
I feel more, "Well, you should have read harder," coming.
Does this mean the forums are just meant to shame ppl
or are they actually designed to help provide quick answers to confused players? For both hard and EASY answers.
Original posters question on what error 2002 was answered in a polite and respectful manner manner and the following questions were answered in the same polite and respectful manner. You just came in and then complained about not knowing what the error was and acted like all this was SE's fault for not making it more obvious that there was going to be maintenance today. Then you berate people who think reading notifications and updates should be something you do. Berating people who informed the ones complaining that there's been news updates about this since February.
No no, I started saying it could have been more obvious.
But after some ppl came out of the woodwork to lol at the ppl who were confused and upset about, what to them, was an unexpected and unpleasant surprise I started saying it was avoidable and how THAT could have been prevented. Read harder.
I was berating the ppl who berated the confused. That's me, always looking out for the little guys.
If you're looking for people to sugarcoat your situation, this isn't the right place for you. You'll find that most regular forumers here, myself included, have a pretty strong aversion to people who complain where they have no real reason to, people who continue to complain even though things have been explained in a respectful manner and people who complain that they haven't been made the center of the universe and they haven't been handheld long enough.
So basically, we're mostly allergic to bullshit.
Well, if nothing else those reading this will see what getting involved in forums gets you. Mission accomplished in that regard. And I will ALWAYS find things to critique in this game and any other. That's how common ppl like us help make games better. If someone in game management has seen this and thought to themselves, "Maybe there are ways we can better prevent confusion to our players," then all the bashing has been worth it and I'll not feel sorry for it.
P.S. This is just one of many forums about the same topic. What does that tell you?
I mean you can have flashing lights and noise makers on these announcements/notifications and people will ignore them. Look at patch days there'll always be at least one person on here or in game who seems to have been stuck in the void since last major patch who will ask the what's new/where things are unlocked question.
NO! ME!
I have no idea why you think these people who ONLY managed to find the forums (the wrong forum at that, there's a technical support forum) once something that was announced way in advance and also documented in multiple places happened are here to do anything other than whine till the server comes back up.
Someone already explained what happened and the OP was then assisted with further (easily searchable) information. Then the whining continued. Ridicule and eye rolling is not unwarranted.
1. People were warned way in advance
2. The information is readily available
3. People were helped first yet the whining continued
I dunno who you think you're defending, but it ain't the underdog.
1. People don't understand why they cannot log in.
2. People search the forums for answers because encountering an error does not suggest something planned is happening.
3. Well in advance notice does not mean well informed, just that it was noted to be upcoming.
4. People expect there to be an obvious answer if there IS something planned.
5. Forum lords sneer and cite poor reading skills and/or laziness (with the exception of those who simply answered).
6. Don't do that.
7. There is always room for improvement and suggesting that things are fine is what's lazy.
Can't help people that don't want to help themselves. People that don't understand how MMO's operate somehow think that the game developer himself needs to call them on their personal phone to feed them the information. Obviously a massive over exaggeration, but apparently a giant notice every time they log into the game somehow isn't enough.
1. nobody claimed they didn't know WHY people were here.
2.again, it's understood why they came here, but we're generally mocking how they didn't discover any of the obvious and prominent postings of what was actually happening as well as the further assertions that this wasn't announced or shown well enough
3. Well in advance gives people large opportunities to familiarize and plan. A lack of doing so is nobodies fault but the user.
4.There was. yet people still missed it.
5.lords? we're all just posters here yo. Some of us just spend more time than others. We don't think we're better than someone with smaller postcounts, it's just indicative that you're new.
6. You don't pay my sub. ... you also aren't my dad.... and all that.
7. There is a point where no amount of grabbing someone's ears and pointing their face at a notice will help and further redundancy only serves to annoy those who are actually paying attention. There is ample notice given and near obnoxious levels of information available about whats going on.
So all the comments were just meant to be rude and not at all helpful because there's no point trying to help anyone who uses these forums? Find a better outlet for anonymous bashing please. People are here for help, not a peanut gallery. Maybe try twitter?
They were already helped. All questions were answered immediately. Are you telling me I cannot post anything other than something helpful? I'm not going to repeat information that has already been said and all relevant information was given. While I suppose "if you can't say something nice.. " is a great sentiment, I'm well within forum guidelines and quite honestly killing time at work. .. NO.
What help are they looking for? Sympathy? They came and asked questions, just like you and they got them. Some of them, just like you, got all indignant and placed the blame solely on SE after learning what the error was. When being called on it, now we're rude?
When was it so hard for people to just say "oh you know what, that's actually my fault. I'll take that as a learning lesson and pay a bit of attention next time to the news."
If you want sympathies, actually start acting like the above for a minute and maybe, just maybe we'd be more receptive to your suggestion.
This thread seems to have died a few pages ago. Enjoy.
There's plenty of point in helping people on these forums. However if people continue to whine after being helped and trying to point fingers and claim faulty processes when all the tools to solve their own problems were present? Yeah.. gonna call them on it.
Enjoy your "holier than thou" attitude.
The lobby server connection has encountered an error 2002: still getting the error today.
