I suspect an Ascian as template is exactly what happened. Which Ascian? It could be either Solus or Elidibus (or both?).

There were other echo users who didn't fare so easily, though right? I mean there were many chambers and I want to say it was mentioned there were others that had been used.

It’s grimmer than that. Krile and Fordola were the only ones really involved in the process, and everyone else was just being used as a human battery - “forced aether extraction” was the phrase if I remember right, and it’s invariably fatal.

I think they might have something big in store for Zenos. I mean, he was added to Dissidia NT today. Every character in it has an alternate outfit, but the one for Zenos is held back until summer (late July/August, I believe?). They stated it's because development is not done yet, but my two cents are on a big role in Shadowbringers for him and his alternate outfit spoiling that, hence the stalled release.

My personal guess:

Zenos in the Emperor's Outfit.

I thought his double dose was because round one was the initial project plan of "Give garleans magic" and round two was copying echo. As to why it doesn't bother him, he's a sociopath.

Thinking about it, EleZenos rambling about whether or not he should turn over a new leaf could have been prompted by Echo flashbacks he may be having. It would make some sense.

Another possibility leading on from that - maybe Garleans are inherently immune to that Echo-clairvoyance effect but once he’s in a different body that doesn’t have that ‘block’, it starts working.

Of course, if he really is a genuine sociopath, that means he gets a whole new level of insight into how to manipulate people.

I can kind of see when EleZenos learns we're on another star he'll find a way to get transferred with us and in a twisted way help us turn the light away from the First. We as the WoL are reluctant at first but maybe we'll get dialogue options that reflect if we're still a champion of light or giving in to the darkness.

Either that or they'll let us PLAY as EleZenos and reclaim our old body from Elidibus. It's possible they could try a dual storyline, even if it means giving our WoL/D a backseat for a while.
