They Literally said the SAME before SB released, to "balance current tanks/healers" sooo yeah... lol
@ above - We are not WoW, the argument for having an even number for tanks is even more salt in our wounds as a 4th heal would actually balance, even if its just another whm with some astro like gimmics...
Imagine we get geomancer as a healer but it's a limited job and capped at 50 while excluded from duty finder as the heals are too OP xD
Seriously tho every job will feel like a new job when they change the battle system. Well all have to relearn our favourites so in a way all healers will be new healers kinda
All the existing healers will get new skills and the combat system will get new features, so healing with WHM/SCH/AST will feel so different that it will be like playing a new healer.
I don't understand all this whining about something that never was promised. Watching all this entitlement in the official forums makes me quite sick :/ now I understand why SE doesn't take our oppinions into account; too much nonsense whining every time they release something new.
The lack of new healer for this expansion sort of blew the wind out of my sails for it. I know I shouldn't have expected there to be one but I did and I feel pretty dumb for having done so. I expected it to be Dancer so that was a disappointment. Oh well, maybe In 6.0, right? Ha ha ha :(
Hey nice bringing up wow launched with 4 healing specs even though they were all garbage and no one used any for end game besides holy priest which is basically case and point what the guy said that healers are hard to implement being meaningful and different than their counterparts, I'm sure they can make a copy paste healer but would any healer like that? Nope
The WoW developers have been doing so much since then because Battle for Azeroth, the current expansion, was launched with some literally unplayable specs. They admitted that the expansion wasn't ready at the time, but they launched it anyway, even though it was horribly buggy and unfinished. It has taken them 7 months to do much of anything other than the usual raid schedule. Even the first pvp season started late due to problems. Class balance is horrible in pvp and pve. They keep making these hotfixes because people are leaving BfA for other games, including FFXIV; if they had listened to the testers in Alpha, Beta, and PTR, things would have been different, but they didn't and pressed onward with some horrible new systems like azurite gear. There are still bugs in the game that the Alpha testers reported. Plus, they are removing quality of life things like portals which had been in the game since the second expansion, so for 10 years.
For those comparing FFXIV to WoW, please realize that since Ion Hazzikostas took over, there were no new classes or races added in Warlords of Draenor, 1 new class that only has 2 specs added in Legion, and now BfA has 8 new Allied Races - all of which require exalted reputations and meta achievements to unlock on a character prior to being able to play them on another - with 4 of those races being in the previous expansion, so you wouldn't even be in current content. (2 of the main races advertised were only just now added to the game 7 months into the expansion, and some that are just reskins of other races.) Sidenote - flying still hasn't been put into the current expansion over 7 months in, and it requires 2 meta achievements to unlock it when it is.
So Yoshi-P and his team are doing amazingly well with everything they have been adding in just three expansions, imo. Perhaps it's because I came from WoW, but I really appreciate everything that I'm seeing so far. Yes, I hope that a healer job is added in Shadowbringers if it's not announced by the end of the Fan Fest, but if it's not, then there are still others to play and this is still a great game.
Cheer up guy,it could have been worse like gender lock job
The same was said for Stormblood. 4.0 hit with a watered down, bug ridden SCH that had it's dungeon gameplay quite literally demolished. AST was in a good place but had monumental button bloat and QoL issues mostly thanks to the new card gauge whilst all but one WHM expac abilities were completely ignorable in all content.
You seriously think that expecting more than that is considered entitlement? Pls =(
The problem here is that SE are showing absolutely no signs whatsoever that they are capable of delivering more this time round. What few comments they have made about healing have frequently been downright worrying (Yoshi's WHM will be made significantly easier to play comment for example).
All major announcements are made during opening keynotes. They won't stealth announce another job on a different day. I expected a new healer too but we were wrong. I guess the lesson is we shouldn't build our hopes up too much about something that is not certain. Just try to enjoy the show without bringing too much expectations. If they made a promise that we would definitely get a new healer soon but then they cancelled it, you would probably get an apology then. They probably won't issue an apology for not doing what we just assumed they would do.
I never heard Square Enix saying they would make a new healer job.
All I saw was just the community making stuff up themselves. So sometimes the community is right, sometimes they are not.
Deal with it or unsub I guess.
Also pro tip: keep your expectations low, that way you won't get disappointed, due to this reason no game has disappointed me for the last decade.
This may sound like nonsense to most of you, but if people want them to release another healer (like I do), maybe they should stop complaining about how badly balanced the healers are. Honestly, FFXIV is not a MOBA. And it's not PvP (or at least, PvP has a completely different system). This is a game where tight balance doesn't matter nearly as much. Hell, even in PvP games with professional eSports, it's impossible to get it right. What classes pros play is only half about the actual balance, and half about shifts in the meta. They're always finding new strategies that end up making totally different classes viable in different ways.
The thing is, every healer can already do virtually everything in the game. Including solo healing. So maybe they're not absolutely equal. Big deal. I know everyone makes a fuss about it, but does it really matter that much? One healer clears bosses faster than another healer. And only a tiny fraction of the player base is actually impacted by that (world first statics that race to be first). All the others are only superficially impacted by it.
As long as the healers are fun to play, that is what ultimately matters. At least 90% of the playerbase will still play and enjoy their own favourite healer without it being perfectly balanced with the others. Of the remaining 10%, 9.9% are fussing over it needlessly, and 0.1% are actually affected by it.
That's my opinion on the matter, anyways.
