World Transfer Applications Begin (03/01/2012)

So, if I understand this correct, the main reason people are struggling to find a server to transfer to that actually has space, is because SE have allotted server space for all those that no longer play and have inactive accounts. Even worse it could be that many of those inactive players could have up to 3 seperate accounts each.

Once this has rattled out and we all log into our new servers, they may not be as populated as we were led to believe due to the number of inactives.:confused:

I still think that we have the best option compared to the one SE originally proposed for us, how were we supposed to know that SE would set the limits of the servers so low?

People from the NA side are still asleep. Remember we're all immediately defaulted into the merge server and that has to be manually overridden. I repicked Default Server just in case. :3

This is why we have two stages.

Yep...

Which is why everyone that began frothing at the mouth when Yoshi first announced the plans are less than bright. Serves them all right, in my opinion. The phrase "be careful what you wish for because you just might get it" never ringed so true.

As I understand it, from dev quotes I read somewhere sometime, inactive players aren't counted at all. They're in limbo. *fishes for dev quote*

SE gave us all the information we needed. He said he wanted around 2k and said servers would fill up quickly after the applications begin.

Option 2 was the best option for people who wanted to keep the communities we have now together while giving people a chance to move if they so choose. This is the Option most demanded and got.
Not understanding that there are more inactive players. thus making it where majority of spots are taken up.

All this means is all inactive characters won't get an option to transfer to another world. They will stay on the one they are at.

From the first question here, I had read that as pertaining to inactive characters during the whole process when I first saw this weeks ago. When I reread it just now, I noticed it just spoke about World transfer applications, not the default world choice.

Gugnir, Ridill, and Ragnarok are the only ones left.

well, this happens after people screamed "4° option suck" :P now if you're planning to move an entire linkshell you're screwed.

There's a whole empty server nobody wants to go to is the problem. SE told us from day one that there would not be additional hardware being bought. They'd just make use of current equipment.

I know Ragnarok has started with no population and the other had 1-3 servers worth, but they do seem to have been full from the offset. Unless a lot of EU players are planning on moving to Ragnarok I can't see many people being able to move at all.

if you want an even distribution for 20k chars onto 10 servers, what do you do?

wrong answer:
5k limit for each server and risk that half of them will be underpopulated.

Personally, I wouldn't blame EU people for not wanting to go to an entirely new server. They would have to leave all their non-EU friends and there is no guarantee that the EU server will be populated either.

I Blame the community for not understanding the option and SE fully. There was a reason they picked 4. But like always people want what they don't truly understand.

SE said they wanted every server around 2k.

With every server meant to be capped and not starting fresh. Means we would all ready be on the servers. Making most the server full or almost full to begin. Most will fill up quickly like they did. Now the only way for people to move is to trade. Or risk it going to ridill/Gungnir/Ragnarok.

Selling spots on masamune, 15m per slot.

I agree with you. However, I also think SE should have spelled out the implications of changing plans for the majority of forum goers who have proven time and again that they don't understand the ramifications of anything until it's too late.

Yah I don't understand this. I check and the servers were instantly full. Do they want us to camp the application site? I'd like to know if a majority of people are still stuck on their same servers...

I think it makes sense. SE knew how many people they want on a server and decided to merge specific servers based on that target number. Frankly I'm not surprised they are nearly all full right now.

People complained and look what happened. Everything's full 5 minutes into the application. Cant say I didn't see this coming though.
