Pretty much this, but they are explaining about the chocobo instead of the the player that way players dont know it.

Does not matter what level you and your chocobo are synced to for the weekly challenge log. The 5% and 10% for a total of 15% is based on the Chocobos total experience needed to level which does not change when the chocobo sync. Only thing that changes when you sync down is the amount of experience you get from a monster which is getting a little bit of extra EXP for fighting something above your level to getting less EXP for killing something below your level to getting no EXP because the thing you killed is to far out of your level range.
Also, the 0.75% experience gain from chocobo stables from level 10 to level 20, I am not sure is correct. I can't recall where but I read that for when When Chocobo is level 10 or above, the formula is: 1% - ((chocobo level - 9) x 0.05). So at level 10 your chocobo gains 0.95% every feeding and at level 19 it gains only 0.5% per a feeding. I could be wrong and I was looking for the source of this but couldn't find it again.
SE such trolls, giving people a taste of quick complain leveling, the ripping it away due to faulty coding. 1.0 strikes AGAIN!
They were around 930k on mine last I checked earlier today. Ended up buying a seed for half the price, grabbed some fertilizer and some pomace and threw it in a pot. A little patience is worth not spending close to a mil for a companion I'm in no rush to level. My chocobo JUST hit rank 17 yesterday and I've been playing since 2.0 launch.
It's because of this alone that I unlocked BLU and leveled it a bit on one of my alt characters. I'm more than fine earning a couple ranks on that bird before leaving it in my FC stable for a few weeks while I'm on break. That means a little more exp per training, not that I really use Tucana for much. Actually, my main character's bird Animiki barely does much outside of making me a few thousand extra gil per week during my FC's map nights, and maybe accompanying me on FATEs during the first couple weeks of an expansion. I'll still level Tucana a bit, though.
I currently feel like by "balancing" SE means too many people will have gotten their birds to max level, meaning they'll have yet another thing to work on, rather than ignoring those of us with rank 20 birds already who've been asking for further development. I don't actually want to abandon Animiki to its current fate, ya know? If this is the case, however, then all I can do is laugh. Our birds are great helpers when we solo world content.
Gods, I feel like I can write a thing on possible advancements we could make with high-level birds. That seems like a better use of our and the devs' time than a hotfix to neuter the exp gains that so many people jumped on (because of course we did).
The amount of progress I gained with my companion SINCE 4.0 EARLY ACCESS was less than 1/4 of the exp bar I needed to get to 20.
In the two days I did BLU stuff I -finally- finished it.
I think it's stupid to nerf it. They're never going to add anything to them, so just let us have our leveled chocobros!
I like how chocobos level up faster now. I spent months trying to get it to level 10. It didn't felt really good that it took so long. With the Blue Mage thing, I leveled it up twice in two days and it gave me enough skill points to have both a great healer and a decent tank, and my companion now helps a lot with playing on the over world. Not just getting these levels felt really good, but the chocobo itself now feels much better to play with.
Since they're said they were going to nerf it, I stopped doing anything else and now I just play blue mage, leveling up in the map, killing the mobs, in a desperate attempt to raise the chocobo's level as high as I can. If they were not going to nerf it or if they actually said the ammount of nerf they were going to do was actually pretty small, like setting it to 50× exp instead of 100× exp, I would be a bit more at ease and do the other content I wanna do too.
Also, I play on Diabolos and I didn't notice any issues with everybody summoning chocobos at the same time. The server seems to be running fine and it's actually pretty fun to see how populated the old maps are now.
That said, they really could revamp the entire companion mechanic. It gets way too low exp normally, and I would like to take it to dungeons and stuff. Eureka is also pretty shitty since I can't summon it there too. The need for Gysahl Greens and Thavnairian Onion is pretty shitty too. Saddlebag is pretty small for a creature that can probably carry more stuff than my character.
I guess the devs don't like people having fun… ┐( ´ д ` )┌
What I would recommend is don't nerf the chocobo xp gain. Instead improve the onion situation by making onion seeds give more than one onion per seed and have them grow much faster. It would also help to give Thavnairian Onions a direct loop. Then it would be much easier to get onions for birds. (Note that my bird has been 20 since ARR so this is just to help out those still working on birds.)
Yes please. Even letting Thav Onion seeds yield 2 with Shroud soils would be a vast improvement.
Then again, I stand by my other opinion that more content should be added to coincide with so many birds being level 10+, or 20.
I mentioned before that I have ideas? Well one of them harkens to the idea of archaeology in WoW, and chocobo digging in FFXIII (and I guess the rabbits in Eureka, only much, much better). As well, it might add to lore or exploration in the zones of HW, StB, and soon ShB. Basically, what if we had high level chocobos learn to follow hints and we accompany our companions to what we think to be the destination. While our birds our out, we use a Dig function like with our own maps that we already have, and then we trigger one of a few quick events. This creates a new level system for the birds where lowest levels only see potions, measly gil, or low level mobs we can fight or flee (because we dug up their home). At higher levels relative to a zone we can see items that piece together what a location was all about however many years ago (it doesn't have to be Allagans, it doesn't have to be Allagans, and it most certainly doesn't have to be Allagans), leading to more gil, more food for the chocobo, and possibly glams or furnishings.
That's the gist of just one idea I have and would love to see to further our chocobos' development beyond ranking from 1 to 20. It would even add a little activity to the world. But hey, let's freak out that people are actually finally leveling their birds now that the exp is decent, and say that a "fix" is coming in about a week. That works too.
If anything, I want them to raise the rank further. To 30 with a few new skills would be nice...
