Besides, if SHB appeals a lot of new players, at least world be less congested and we won't have maintenance every 2 weeks because "well haha, Chaos crashed"

If you're talking about DDOS, it has nothing to do with SE.

The servers themselves are not "very laggy" at all. Most the issues we had were due to Level 3 or DDOS, and having 2 datacenters will not change a thing about those problems.

We had a lot of unfortunate crash and lag on some major patch release.

People asking for the dev to do something about EU DC infrastructure isn't new.
They finally do something about it.

That doesn't mean they have enough money to spare such a venture. The MogStation cash might be for FFXIV only and nothing else in SE's portfolio, but the cash made from subscriptions can be redirected to any title they so please. For all that we know, in the long term the Mog stuff may barely balance out any losses from subs (whether they are redirected or it's just a decrease in the number of active players).

The worst "crash" Chaos had was due to a power outage in Germany, which damaged the servers.

The heavy server loads on SB release and major patch were due to the instance servers being saturated. If anything needs to be done, it's on this side.

I don't think there is any major issue regarding the EU servers right now, as most of the problems we faced were not directly related to them.

Stop being silly and trying to ruin EU DC due to bad management.
Splitting the DC wont result on anything good but will just split the current playerbase which will either flow to one or another of the DC and kill any cross-world static that exist.
If you intend to do this, then you have to put in place a cross data-center PF option to address and fix those issue. As much as the free transfer sound nice, it split me from the few people i know on my server and relinquish my house or split away from my static after a good amount of time spent together raiding.

@KDSilver except those issue aren't entirely due to the server, they are due to SE poor management of the current servers and the obvious lack of interest in supporting EU properly. They refuse to make proper sacrifice, why should we make the sacrifice when the money we gave em is not properly invested back into FFXIV.

Whats the idea of putting all region datacentre's into a column each?

The reason EU DC is getting divided is because of the instance servers. Currently we have about 120k active players - and numbers will increase for sure (Expansion, 5.0 incoming hello?). If you believe people wont come back and start to catch up/prepare for 5.0 then go back to 3.4-3.5 and check the how the population increased. There have been enough posts about current population at given times. Google will help.

And actually if you cut the crystal DC into 2 pieces and add them on both current DC, you would get around 120k~ active players as well. Thats almost the same amount as EU. And guess which datacenters had least issues during Stormblood release? Japan. They have their player base splitted already into 3 data centers since the beginning and while they had difficulties at the beginning, after the maint to fix it - Japan magically solved their MSQ issue. I wonder why?

If new data centers are the only option to increase and ease the problems with instanced servers, for old and new players. Then, I am sorry but I vote for the split. I do not like to experience the same issue with Stormblood release/and actually "early access". There are a lot of people who take off from work, prepare everything to start playing the game non stop, the hype, the fun. I wish not to be on hold on my first day again as Raubahn Extreme gated every other content and made people waste hours in a single day.

Atm I find the current PF situation disappointing to begin with (Looking purely from my personally perspective and the times I tend to play which are evenings and mostly weekends) I tend to see an avg of around maybe 10-15 groups per floor/Ex trial. And that's with a PF pool consisting out of 10 servers.
And yes there are days that it seems fine but I have noticed a decline in groups ever since aphascape released the sigmascape tier seemed decent for PF groups.

And maybe its just because its end of expansion I don't know but but I do find it at least slightly concerning.

Still I think SE outcome should not be based on making smaller things smaller, it should be based on long term solution and looking forward to the future so that if they need to split DC again the the raiding pool doesn't take a hit again Or again watching people getting split up and getting even more fragmented across data centers.

Yes, I wonder why. Maybe it was the exact same reason Chaos problems were also just magically solved after the maint to fix it.

Cut by half the population of the DC will be a nightmare in many aspects. Right now party finder and a lot of duties are already death during the night can’t imagine the loneliness after the split.

I think Chaos had the most issues during the launch of Stormblood because of this and a result could be the most amount of quitting players during the launch, compared to US and JP. So the plan to split and add 2 servers on top could be a preparation to do it better for the launch of Shadowbringers.

I'm actually worried about this too. Luckily I'm not going to lose any static myself, though it's really bad for people who will. What personally troubles me is the possible lack of people to do content with. Will queues suffer? I wonder if the census about EU servers is just wrong and SE knows better (???), otherwise I don't understand the meaning of this split.

I thought Chaos had less issues during the launch of stormblood than some of the American ones
