I will always be fond of the Rabanastre name, but I like Durandal. I'm also excited to be meeting our new friends from Cornelia. ^^
Some people just complain about anything and everything. Seriously, grow up.

take off your derphelment for a moment and pay close attention to what i'm about to tell you, kiddo:
THIS THREAD IS SATIRE.
Satire/troll/whatever this thread may be, I really dig the new name, and I look forward to playing with the new folks we're merging with.
I don't know if the OP noticed, or if someone mentioned this before.
I did some research as soon as I read the new server names, I know some of them ( Excalibur and Masamune) for example but I didn't recognize most of the server names that sounded absurd and hard to pronounce for me when I read it the first time. So I went over to the Final Fantasy wiki to see where those names came from and it turned out to be weapons ( And Aegis being the only shield? ).
After learning that I started looking for connections between the merged servers and the new names that were chosen for them, and about 75% of the time, the weapon is actually used in one ( or both ) of the merged servers, Sargatanas for example being a dagger that Zidane uses in FFIX and one of the merged servers is Lindblum. (A city that exists in the FFIX universe)
Another example would be Hyperion which is a weapon from FFVIII if I'm not mistaken (Didn't seifer use this?), which is the new server that's the result of merging Trabia and Kashuan, and since Hyperion is the name of a weapon used in one of the merged servers (Trabia being from FFVIII where Hyperion is used) it does make sense the reason for choosing these names.
After researching that, the names made more sense to me (And taught me that I really need to replay the Final Fantasy series), and weren't chosen randomly (Or were they?). Hope that I'm correct about this and it helps you "Accept" the new server names. :)
Good afternoon,
What seems to be the main issue? Is it the choice of a server name that is bugging you or is it that you can't accept a decision that was made by the game developer? Is it that big of a deal of a servers name that has your panties all tied up in a wad? I could think of 99 problems that deserve more attention than this. Have a pleasant day. Cheers.
Durandal is also depicted as an axe as well, for all you Marauder lovers out there.
Its also depicted as an Ivan
Is the name of the server really THAT big of a deal? Does it change how you play the game? Does it impact the fun factor?
Server names are serious business! Life and death hohoho ;o I am glad mine got a cool name though at least, sargatanas!
So we are trading the nickname Rabanasty for Duran Duran?

Do I get a sweet uniform like this now?
This is the best thread ever.
Who cares?
I sometimes think B-something has spies in there. So, they posted interesting stuffs to direct public's view toward B-something... like some other thread about 1.20b wasn't a real content...
<3 Durandal tho I finally can pronounce it and remember how to spell it... unlike rab-something...^^:
Deal with it or Transfer
I was probably one of the first people to own this sword in FFXI very effective if abit to common when it was released. If I remember correctly, it was a defensive sword with good VIT stat , which seems to match the history of the sword.
Durendal
Durendal or Durandal (Most likely from French "durer", "to endure";Italian: Durlindana Spanish: Durandal or Durandarte) is the sword of Charlemagne's paladin Roland in the literary cycle known as the Matter of France.
I laughed out loud when I saw that picture and caption. I thought that nicely summed up my feelings on this topic. Though I am not going to be on Durandal, I still have to shake my head at the fussing about the name from the OP. And yes, it's fussing, as that picture above depicts oh sooo accurately.
So much QQ in this thread... You're going to forget all about your server name as soon as your chat log runs out of room and hides it.
Really people? your gonna bitch about a server name? It has nothing to do with the play experience imo, you only notice it when you first log in. There are many more important matters to be discussing than bitching about what ur server name is gonna be...
And to the OP: how can u not say Durandal? May I remind you of the weird server names that came from FFXI? I remeber I was in Garuda until it got merged with Lakshmi (or however you spell it) try saying that one 5 times fast cause I STILL have no clue how to pronounce it!
Durandal is fun to say at least..... unlike "balmung" ... or as I call it "bal-dung"
People are bored, what else could you expect from them?

We all know you have dat junk in your trunk Alevia.
Does this server name make my butt look big? :<
Zozor's thread still lives!
Though I guess it belongs it in the Durandal forums now. Poor little thread, it's like your family moved but left you behind.
/comfort <thread>
Because some people just can't seem to let it die..>->'
I actually kind of understand the OP a little bit..server names DO have some influence on how much you enjoy playing.
For example, I'm leaving Lindblum because I couldn't stand saying "Oh, I'm from Sargatanas..which is a totally unknown weapon made from two cow heads and is appearently some ewwy insect in real life.."
Durandal though..is really cool and I'd pick it if there weren't even better choices.
I like the name SARGANTANAS only because I feel like it should always be typed in caps and pronounced as such.
We'll just set a new course for that empty region over there, near that blackish, holeish thing. I'm going to call it Durandal!
