5 minute average queue time.

The problem with tanking is that its a binary role - you either know how to do it or you don't.
You have a very short period of leveling and unless you've grasped the ropes when you hit max level you are going to have a tough time. You are center stage and people expect you to just be able to get on with it.
It's not surprising people don't stick at it after their initial experiences.

I really don't enjoy playing tank in roulettes, for me its the most boring role and isn't as satisfying as dps or healer, so in most cases I just roll healer.

I blame it on tanking just not being as fun, don't make it easier, its easy enough as it is, making it any easier would make it...is there anything easier than current WAR?

RDM is arguably easier than anything else in the game, even and especially at 70. I use it when I want to nap through a ridorina run.

Personally I used to run tank roulette but now I cannot be bothered. I can cap my genesis tomes by just doing Expert a couple times a week and focus on what is fun; content at 70.

Matter of fact I don't run anything else because I don't like having my kits gutted. DPS get their toys taken away when synced too, but nothing is worse than queuing as a WAR and getting 60-70 content where I can't even do the most fun part of the job (Mash Fell Cleave). Or getting PLD at a level where all you have is Rage of Halone to spam over and over and over...

Tanks simply do not have enough buttons. They play fine at 70 sure, I love my tanks. But what happens when you take away a WAR's IR? PLD's Goring Blade and Royal Authority or god forbid DRK's Dark Arts?

I just have to hope that next expansion SE reworks classes so they are basically complete by 50 and then use Traits to make them more interesting onward. I can tell you that otherwise after 5.0 drops you won't see me anywhere near sub 80 content.

The only reason I don't tank in roulettes much is aoe pulling. There's no reason why war for example should only have a conal aoe outside of its beast gauge abilities, and I find aoe gathering can be really wonky to judge the effective distance. I do trials fine, when they don't have particularly long or annoying add phases, but dungeons i kind of dislike. I don't think the game works well with big aoe pulls; i mean i do them, but i feel tanks should have better tools to deal with them in terms of gathering them up.

Meh, the only reason I don't tank often, it's because I have nothing else to tank for: after I do my expert roulette I'm practically done with tanking and I rather spend my time either learning Suzaku Ex or using the roulettes as a DPS for leveling them up.

I'd be glad to tank more often if I had more incentives, but I just don't have any! And it's the easiest class in the entire game too so I feel so bored after doing absolutely nothing!

I wouldn't really blame the concept of tankxiety at all. I would blame toxic individuals that cause it but that's just me.

I had it for the longest time and hated tanking cause I got bashed a lot when I was trying to learn. I wanted to learn, I knew the basics but it wasn't enough for some and when you get bashed enough and have terrible self esteem already, you get tankxiety >.< Lately I have been tanking a lot more and have stopped caring what people think. I have been enjoying myself again. I'm secretly waiting for someone to ruin it for me lmao

Just wait, just when you think you got it down pretty well, and are tanking bosses outside of tank stance, and generally proud of yourself. Someone will come along and say 'wow, you are shit.' And the self-loathing begins anew. It will happen.

DRG main, and I tank roulettes.

I've been berated for pulling too much in dungeons, and i've been told to pull more as well (although nicer in tone). I do agree there was some anxiety at first, but honestly, once I got over the hump I really stopped caring. Now I check the healers gear and if its not leveling gear, I pull to the wall, aoe down, and turn off tank stance if healer is adequate.

I feel pretty certain tank stance is there for people to get comfortable with tanking and I think people who are scared of tanking just need to keep giving it a shot, you will get comfortable in time. Learn from mistakes and keep pugging away.

and as a result, now that I have my 2 DRK mounts, I went from being scared to tank to barely using tank stance at all and focusing on as much DPS as I can, just like DRG. It's pretty fun. :)

Bruh have you ever played as tank before? It's the easiest role out of the three and has the adventurer in need bonus 99% of the time in dungeons and daily roulettes lol

RIGHT HERE. Sorry, I enjoyed this comment so much I wanted to expand on it with my own comment. Them dumbing down PvP from what it was in HW was exactly why I stopped playing. (well, that and only ever getting Shatter... I'll just say my opinion of shatter is the first four letters.) I enjoyed going into Seal Rock and running around as a Warrior with all the cool PvP abilities it had and having the time of my life. PvP Warrior used to be the most fun thing in this game that I'd actually get a nightly group together where we played PvP randomly and it was really really fun. Especially when amazing moments like holmganging enemies into Adrenaline attacks, getting every person to attack you just to have them die because of Pushback and Vengance.

Back on topic, I personally just play everything. I tank, I heal, I dps. Because I know that if something is needed, it's needed. It's not just some "Oh, let's have someone else do it." I learned WHM for Ex Trials, I learned how to play Warrior in Byakko to keep as many people as needed coming into the party. If you can't do the same, deal with the longer queue times. I did, because I was leveling every single DPS and used to main Ninja (just to find out I don't like HW Nin). If you don't enjoy tanking, if you don't enjoy healing, and really just want to play DPS for all eternity, then complaining when DPS, the roll with the MOST PEOPLE PLAYING IT and the MOST CLASSES IN THE GAME TOTAL, you don't get the right to complain when DPS queues are long. (just like how if you chose a popular race, a popular outfit, or popular hair/face you don't get to complain that you aren't unique looking.)

Also, to keep you from wondering, the reason you have no right to complain is because you either did it to yourself or are not helping the problem.

I like to have fun with it sometimes. Set up a PF for DPS only, and do a queue like that. Or get some DPS friends to help you out. It induces a fun variation to the normal play. My girlfriend and I play duo Dragoon most of the time, and we have fun with it.

As with the poster above, I play all three classes because I want to fit in where I'm needed. Granted, I run with an FC for the most part (which, to be fair, may also be an option you haven't considered - if you have an FC, you should have a group of people that can help you get into/through dungeons), but even though my main is healer I have dps and a tank all at 70 so that if I'm needed for something else I can fill in a spot (even though, for example, I don't enjoy tanking and am not confident in it).

Do I blame you for not wanting to play something you don't enjoy to queue? No, but on the same hand, everybody else should be able to play whatever they want to queue. Somebody else shouldn't be forced to give up the class they enjoy solely so that you can have a faster queue time.

I'm on Couerl, if you need a tank to pair with you hit me up, i'm usually willing to help. my average times are typically seconds lol

I have a tank role as my main Job to plow through story mode and get things unlocked. I keep him relatively up there in iLev and I have a DPS at cap and I'm casually working on a healer. But Tank = Insta-Queue, so worth having one in your arsenal!

They just can't make tanks any easier to handle at a base level. You have your 123 combo, a few cooldowns, and an I WIN, spammable, aoe threat button.

If people can't figure out how to tank 1-70 roulette with this toolkit, I don't want them tanking. No matter how long the queues get.
