Oh, so the tattoo didn't even need you to pay a sub, just have a character?
So there really would be no issue, since you just had to exist for 5 minutes?

There were actually a lot of us here on the forums at the time who asked for that change, and for good reason. He gave us what we wanted. Just because it doesn’t line up with what was said before personal housing was implemented doesn’t mean we were knowingly lied to. Wards were absolute ghost towns before demolition came along. I distinctly remember having neighbors who hadn’t logged on in over a year, wards full and houses unused. This game just doesn’t have a player turnover that can support no demolition timer or even a rare timer. I agree with you that they have lied in the past, but not about this.
Since I doubt body hair will ever be a thing, I would not mind seeing a body hair glamour that functions the same way as the tattoo. On a side note are people really that upset about a five year old item being given out as a reward?
*look at the 72 wards, 144 if we make different between basis and annex* oh yes, nothing ghost now :)
Take a ward with only FC houses, add like 4-5 spot where you have instance personnal houses. and miracle, everyone can get house, no destruction required, no need of 72 wards, and so no need to call ghostbuster...
I would like a billion dollars now because it would be fun, but it won't happen. Just like the calamity tat won't happen if you didn't play 1.0. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Actually, what they should have done is, added a status you can turn on or off like the "New Adventurer" and "Mentor" status with icon, and you know what icon us 1.0 players need beside our names? A pretty Dalamud (Exactly like the minion just smaller) that glows a soft red.
Make it happen!
Here ya go champ! Remember to follow the directions for best results :^)

I'd rather they just add tattoos and body scars in the character creation, honestly.
The chocobo, tattoo, reduced sub and name in credits were the only actual legacy items and they should indeed stay as such.
The rest of the stuff from v1, like the earrings were not part of the legacy package. So if SE just gives the tattoo and/or choco away they will be loosing a lot of face when it comes to any future promises of the kind they make.
They can add all the tattoos they want, but that one needs to remain exclusive.
Adding additional tattoo options seems like a better choice than opening up perks explicitly designated for legacy players to non-legacy players.
Nobody will see it unless you just run around shirtless. What’s the point?
No. Just no.
I'm sure you've lied at least once or twice in your lifetime about something, whether it was a little white lie or a bigger one. It's human nature to lie. I'm not excusing it, but that's reality. There's no such thing as a completely, 100% "honest" person.
Parents will lie, children will lie, teachers will lie, friends will lie. It is a completely normal facet of human interaction and behavior. It's part of life. Lying can only be considered not "normal" when you're dealing with someone who has a compulsion to do nothing but lie whenever they speak to you with the sole intention of harming you while bringing self-satisfaction towards themselves.
You played the game in its early stages and were unceremoniously used as the beta testers, unfortunately that's correct. Sorry, but that's the break of it whether you agree with it or not. The game continued onto the ARR stage because you were still around so yes, you're right about that.
However, after ARR became a successful hit, more often than not, the 1.0 players were no longer the nuts and bolts that held the ship up any longer and if a few of you dropped your subs, it no longer meant the end to SE with the new rise and influx of other players. The game simply does not revolve around you anymore, it revolves around the entire community. The 1.0 players are not the entire community, merely a part of it. A part of the clockwork.
And you completely misheard what I had said, even if the 1.0 players had stayed on and they didn't sign Yoshi-P, they could have signed on another terrible director in which the game would have gone down in flames regardless if the 1.0 players stuck around or not if he was just as terrible or even worse. It's a combination of 1.0 players and Yoshi-P that provided favorable circumstances, but the 1.0 players didn't solely do all of the work in which you're trying to elevate that you did.
And please, leave the immature condescending name-calling out. It's not needed for something so simple as differing opinions.
It's not paranoia, it's called being realistic. The world is not always going to be a nice place and pretending that it is, by sugarcoating, and thinking that people will always be nice or never steer you wrong sets you up to be incredibly naive and you'll fall harder when people actually do say or do awful things.
There's a difference between living in an bubble and then living in a shield. One is more stable than the other. I chose the shield because it allows me to make good judge of characters without necessarily allowing myself to be emotionally or mentally harmed by being 100% invested into something and taking everything at face value.
Always think positive, but never always expect 100% perfect results. Stuff happens, it's best not to be discouraged by the small stuff. But, it's also good not to be naive and completely believe everything that you see or hear at face value either.
I have a tattoo, and I'd be ok if everyone just got one tomorrow for free! The concept of gaining joy from other people not having things is a weird concept to me. Heck. I don't feel like I earned the tatoo. I have it, because I was a Warcraft fan and because of that--wanted to play every MMO that came out. I didn't do anything special to get it. I did suffer through the garbage fire that was 1.0 for all of 3 days?
As for gear that shows it off? Oh, there's a lot! And people like myself with the tattoo will often make it work. The Hannish wool dress is great for showing it off. The camsies all show it off. The fashion report shirt does. The Christmas dress from the mog station shows it off. The swee swee set. Almost all swimsuits. Harnesses. The real kicker isn't the outfit--it's the long hair. Female with a tattoo? Welcome to the tomboy haircut club!
Just wondering what does that have to do with anything? Do 1.0 players want a cookie for sticking with a broken game? What is the relevance of being a 1.0 player in patch 4.0 and beyond? I mean truth be told beta tester is generous, I would say many 1.0 players were suckers that followed brand loyalty.
I get the whole purpose of this thread is mocking the White Raven Earrings, except it ignores one key difference. The earrings were never meant to be exclusive, they simply became so because 1.x failed. The tattoo, meanwhile, exists solely for legacy players. It has no other purpose. Therefore, the two aren't equals.
Yeah tattoos in character creation would be a really nice thing and maybe a tattoo artist in game like our hair dude.
I agree, the earrings are one thing but this goes a step to far. I would even say that this thread is simply to add fuel into the fire.
I'm surprised they just don't add all those old assets in the store by now, I mean it would be easy money for the people that buy everything. I mean people complain about these different things, but any time there is new content added that affects glam like hairstyles or cash show fashion items you see tons of people in Limsa with it for like a week or until their sub runs out/next content drop.
Then you might see 1/100 players wear it once. The excitement wears off, the next pay cheque comes and people re-sub for the next shiny thing. Make even more profit if it's asset recycling, you don't have to pay someone to design, model, code and put into the game a new asset. It works as long as people let it happen.
If they give out the Legacy Tattoo for anything other than being a Legacy player, I'll pitch a bitch. I have a lot of tolerance for items being given out after they've been stated to be limited-time-only, but that's one thing that needs to stay special.
let people have the jpeg no one sees on there back
Here's my suggestion: an event that actually works.
Rising 2019, enter an instance by talking to an NPC that randomly spawns for 30 mins in 1 of 50 locations throughout all of Eorzea. Once the NPC despawns it will respawn again at another location somewhere between 5-9 hours from despawn time (respawn timer is random time between 5:00:00 and 9:00:00 hours). Serious players will need to keep checking all 50 locations at regular intervals during the respawn window!
Once inside the instance take on FATEs that are spec'd for 100+ players to be present. These FATEs do not scale down if less players are present and they have a 15 min completion timer.
Gold gets you 20 tokens, silver gets you 10 tokens, and bronze gets you 5 tokens.
You need 999 tokens to buy tattoo.
Please look forward to it!
No I strongly disagree with this because unlike the earrings or any other goodies from 1.0, that tattoo's sole purpose is to mark a player as a 1.0 character. It was designed to do only one thing and it should stay that way.
I dont like the Event, it getting worser with the new content SE release - i love this game, but right now ? nope!
What i actually missed out from 1.0 was the titles earned during that time. Ah... if only I realized early and get that 'Notorious Monster Hunter' Title..
Jijifli, considering this thread has 8+ pages of responses, I doubt any of us are able to get through to why you, nor anyone who began an account once 2.0 started, will never get a legacy tattoo. /Sigh, let me see if I can explain, because I have nothing better to do right now other than try to wake up this morning.
In order to get a legacy tattoo, you had to have paid a full 3-month subscription during 1.0, which was waaay back in 2010. The mark symbolizes those who played in the world and survived the calamity. The developers were also apologetic and regretful about the poor state the game was in during this time and wanted to leave the characters with rewards, or thank-yous, for continuing to support them by playing the game during that time. This tattoo, among other perks, was the result of this statement.
I guess you could think of this one-time tattoo as a cool-looking scar? It would make a person look kind of strange if they asked, "Why can't I have that?" Or maybe you could think of it as a type of prize a person wins at a drawing, even though it's a bad comparison.
My point is that you cannot simply ask for this option for your character. There is a sole reason legacy players have this mark, and it would be a slap in the face for not only all players who experienced the calamity, but it would diminish the value of Square Enix's "thank-you" message to the players ...COMPLETELY. This is why everyone is upset with you asking for this.
I may be OK with the purchase of the tattoo...in a different color that distinguishes new vs calamity-survivors? MAYBE. But it's still controversial to discuss.
I'm pretty sure you are trolling, too, and my words are probably (again) falling on deaf ears... but if not, then one day you will understand.
But I was already told in the thread you didn't need a sub, just a character. I thought the 3 month reward was the lower sub cost, which would be rude to make for everyone.
And looking at it as a scar doesn't change my mind on it. My alt could still look amazing with it. Plus you all got to play with it for 5 years, why can't I get a turn?
