Not just to this request, but the overall hostility to QoL improvements constantly irks me. It doesn't baffle me, because it's easy to see that the attitude is: "If it wasn't that easy for me/If I had to do it the hard way, everybody else always should." But it irks me because don't we want things to improve for people who come along in the future? Just because your version took 26 steps and the new version takes 16 doesn't mean the new version is lazy. It means it's better. Do you still ride your horse everywhere because people who drive cars are "lazy"? Do you still go to a barber to have your teeth removed via pliers because "real humans endure pain"?
QoL improvements are just that, quality of life. And most of them will even benefit people who've had to use the older, more difficult/annoying methods, too. And even if one doesn't, wanting someone else to deal with the same headache you did because otherwise nobody will understand "how hard you had it/how hardcore you are" is just... pitiful.

I was just talking to a friend how almost lost his house. He logs in every day, and uses his house every day to garden. Being an active player who is constantly using his house, he didn't even think about the demolition timer until he happened to see an email saying his house would be demolished in 1 day. An in-game notification would have really helped out in this situation.

I lost my very first house, about 2 years ago, because this stupid E-Mail that informs you, LANDED IN THE SPAM FOLDER.
I am using googlemail, and EVERY Square Enix or FFXIV E-Mail ever reaches me like I want it. I was inactive ingame, and I almost only play for housing, waiting for new patches, new furniture, craft, redecorate etc. ;)
So I keep paying my sub all the time, because of my house. And one day I thought "hm... wasn't it long already, that I went IN my house? I should check"
And it was gone... Just because googlemail decided THIS specific Mail vom SE should land in the spam folder. -.- So I was very angry... Now I just remind myself all the time, to log on and go inside. ;)
Luckily I am very active lately, decorating again. :D
