While I'll be first to scream "CLAN LOYALTY" (I'm old skool so sue me) - The name of the organization is "FREE Company" - emphasis on FREE.


This game is designed to be fluid....there is no loyalty built in.
The issue (looks at OP) is your inappropriate level of expectation.
If your going to let members into your FC - then you better do your best to filter.
If you want it to stop...do something about it. Or do your own FC. (Assuming your leadership...if not..then you should talk to your leadership)

In my FC - I can spot these kinds a mile away....leaving only the one offs.
Course my FC is a School...not hard core savage or whatever.....Ive only lost a couple people...both for obvious reasons..and rather not have that/them in the FC in the first place.

As a result..we are drama free..and stable. Bottom line - it comes down to the leadership...and the way you acquire members.
If you just spam invites....well...you can figure out the rest.

Much like an employer hiring new people blindly...you get what you ask for. No its not perfect...but at least put some effort into it. It's a two way street after all. Yes some people abuse that. Hence proper expectations.

"Unfaithful" might be a bit extreme. This isn't a marriage!

The game doesn't really put much emphasis on FCs, given that the large entry-level raids are automatched in DF and the organized Savage etc only requires 8 people.
Outside of the buffs - you could quite easily spend your entire game life out of an FC.

Also OP, you sound mental. I can see people not being into that.

Hey you know what else is annoying? Having an FC advertise they're "active" and it turning out to be only 3-4 players on at any given time. When I join an FC I'm not going to stick around if they were falsely advertising something about their FC that isn't true.

Hate to point out the obvious...but one would think that with the information you provided it would be safe to make the following assumptions:

1: 3-4 Members - likely brand new
2: A particular window of time
3: All FC's have to start somewhere.

That said..if it doesn't fit the bill...then move along.
But I can't help but ask - did you even ask the right questions when you joined?

Communication is a 2 way street.

Now if you where lied too....fine....you got me there. But 3-4 members....I rarely find people on 24/7 <will ok maybe there are some who do that>

One: It was an example and indeed it is brand new in this scenario.
Two: That's my fault for being unclear but I meant to say that I stick around for a day or two.
Three: That's irrelevant to the point both of us were trying to make...Unless you're trying to say new FCs lying is justified.

Maybe you are an annoying person but don't realize it? I mean, if you take the time and effort to get to know these people and they keep leaving, it might be you. Sometimes you have good intentions and are trying to be nice but to someone else they may find it annoying. I would not worry about it too much and not take it personally. People will come and go in mmos.

OP, disparaging women is probably not a good way to appeal to a solid chunk of the player base. Yes, I know it's a joke, everyone clearly does- but if you say that sort of stuff in FC chat it sends a very negative message to any women who may join.

Make your FC however you want it. The folk who like it will stay, those who don't will leave. Good luck.

I don't think positive or negative feelings should have anything to do with being civil. Even if you have some negative feelings it doesn't hurt to say thank you for the opportunity. In fact it might impress other members that you don't have issues with and are also thinking of leaving offer to start a new FC or Linkshell with you.

Maybe join a better FC? Or if you're the leader, let it pass and recruit people who will stay. (But even that is not always possible cause 5/10 they might leave.)

OP's use of "unfaithful" in the title of the post bothers me.

No one is obligated to stay in any fc they join. You don't sign a contract, you don't swear an oath, there is no binding agreement. Unless they have stolen things from the fc chest, purposely waited until fc members gave them specific items before leaving or started drama based on false rumours...then you can call them unfaithful. Even then that's not the word I would use to describe those people. Selfish scum is more apt.

It sucks when people leave but if they're not happy then it's better they just go. Unhappy members can cause rifts whether they become irritable or shut themselves off from other players. A fc can only thrive when the members are happy. When you lead a community you have to accept that it's not everyone's idea of the best place to be. We're all different.

If a fc has an epidemic of players leaving after a short membership then there is definitely something wrong. I'm going to talk about a few possible reasons.

It could be that the recruitment advertisement is too vague. Contrary to what many think, the recruitment process isn't just for attracting people but it's also for filtering out the kind you don't want. If the way you describe the fc says nothing specific, then you can't really hope to attract the sort of players you're interested in or discourage those you don't want.

Another possible reason is the fc doesn't live up to the image it tries to be. This can happen for many reasons but the primary one is usually the rules. If rules aren't upheld then over time the state of the fc will no longer align with the vision the leaders have. Also there's no point in having rules if you wait until the last minute to enforce them. Don't wait until the situation is unbearable. Act while it's still something that can be tidied calmly. Waiting until a mess is huge runs the risk of members feeling like the fc leaders aren't brave enough to fulfill their role, and this often leads to people leaving.

It also could be that new members are not being given enough space. Being too enthusiastic can be very off putting. A lot of people are wary of those they don't know and can find someone trying too hard to be friendly very unsettling. Don't smother people with offers of help or conversation. Keep it chill. Most players are looking for a relaxing community, not a place to be bombarded with offers of help or a questionnaire about their lives.

The last is a common reason many don't like to read: not everyone is leadership material.

Best intentions don't get things done. Being a nice person sadly isn't enough to lead a community. There is such thing as being too nice to be a leader. A leader cannot be afraid to tell their friends when they're out of line. A leader cannot let a problem fester out of the fear of offending someone enough to leave because that can end up with several people leaving as the problem grows. And a leader cannot assume that if no one complains that means nothing is wrong. If you see something isn't right, don't wait for someone else to complain before you act. Not every person speaks up the moment something is wrong, many suffer in silence.

There's nothing wrong with not being leadership material. If we all were there would be no need for leaders. There is just as much value in followers. Leaders cannot exist without people to follow them.

Women ARE capable of leadership, we just never get the same chance. Even if we did we were paid less for 20%.

I was in a FC once where there was a person in it for over year, got ranked up enough to use the company chest, only to take everything in it, and then leave. It made me finally level my gatherers at least, to help restock what we lost.

(I ended up leaving that FC myself when the servers moved, and I could no longer play on it without 360+ ping. :<)

Same thing happened to fc I was once in. The one got ranked up and took off with everything in fc chest then bought a mansion and started there own fc.
